  1. I'm a RT player and I trust my men. it seems like its a control issues at the heart of the matter. Meaning some players want to be involved in every nuance of the game. The AI in the game is really good. knowing the exact moment your tank is engaging an enemy isn't going to change the out come. As long as your tactics are fundamentally sound you will succeed at this game. Your tank will defend itself. And take action if set up right. Players got to get in the mind set that you are at a higher level. and to leave your men alone to carry out your orders. Battles from the Bulge, had these concepts so it makes it easier for me to grasp. The only time i order my men to fire is to suppress a position.
  2. some the areas looking to be improved seems like reducing the "fog of war effect". At least that's what I interpreted the lack of info as before now. No commander knows what everyone one is doing in battle. I think it should be tied to difficultly level, like basic training. And be tied strictly to C2. out of C2, no info relayed. no one hears your screams out of C2.
  3. looks very detailed. looks like a map where panthers will come in to there own at those distances
  4. what would be cool but don't' know if realistic is when mortars hit a squad men should fly like Dawn of war.
  5. I noticed this too. BUT with the totality of what they are trying to do, it sounds trivial. I kind of agree with mikey. I would guess that's waaaaay on the back burner.
  6. it sounds like you are using relative control. use direct control and bind bind bind. relative control sounds good, but it never did it for me
  7. I'm a new to playing to the series. AND after initial control resistance, they work well IMO. blankets statements about all new players are false. The statement should start with "I am having". that projection on everyone is indicative of being young or immature. Before the rash of recent post i assumed the core audience of this game would be older. And thus be more patient and understand of the scope of this shop and the capabilities. Or maybe the "core" just don't bother to post, and just lurk, laugh and shake their heads. I forgot the percentage, but i remember reading way more people complain than compliment. So that might be it too. There are tweaks with the gui, that need to be done, like a buttoned up or closed indicator, the scaling of the gui on smaller monitors. But the fundamental way how mouse clicks work isn't one of em. If they do to change they should just add alternate settings. kind of how Men of War does.
  8. Reminds me of how fun head to head combat was in my close combat 2 days. great unintentional advertisement for PBEM
  9. When i first played this game i thought the controls didn't make sense and were combersome. But after plowing through, it makes perfect sense. They aired on the side of safety. If BFC does change the controls, please leave tthe current setup as an alternate, legacy, something. When BFC could do is make everything command bindable, including to the mouse and all its extra buttons.
  10. I would think anyone that paid for this game brought if because of its simulation quality. And therefore, knows better than attacking a tank from the front. This niche is not the command and conquer niche.
  11. This guy does good work. I have no affiliation with this site. just passing on a gem of a site. I credit this guy with showing me how to "work" the Bocage with my tank to my advantage . has pictures and diagrams. specific to CMBN. Very newbie friendly. http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/forumdisplay.php?161-CM-Battle-for-Normandy-Tactics I credit this site for teaching me the fundamentals of CM and and strategies involved in playing a game designed by BFC. Tons of content if you bother to look. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=96905
  12. You do get renforcments. Spread your teams out so the germans are taking fire from multiple sides. They willl panic and run. put you motar teams on the front lines if you are in a pinch. they come with good weapons
  13. then don't. And stop spaming with repeated topics. We all know how BFC loved being pressure into doing something by whining. People playing this game have a certain level of competence. You are going off into lala land now to prove a point. Enjoy the trip. i won't be going.
  14. Just was wondering about the time investment involved. never played PBEM before.
  15. i would resurrect the thread. I checked it out, and some of the tactics ARE the same. take what fits and disregard the stuff that doesn't
  16. I dont usually pause. If i do pause, its due to time contraints of ths scenerio. Some maps seem to be better suited for TB.
  17. how long does a PMEM game last if you were playing from start to completion. I was reading somewhere people playing for days.
  18. This was brought up a few days ago. The repeated comment was to refer to CMSF Strategy and Tactics Forum. maybe they should just change the name to something more general.
  19. really? "Zero" a little rough.. lol RT IMO simulates "once the bullets starts flying, the plan goes out the window". TB is more controlled. It more accurately simulates the generals in the ivory tower who 2nd guess, analyze, and expect men on the ground to react to everything. And whom wants to be able to magically interject at every crossroad in the battle. But that's just me.
  20. RT trumps turn based in 3D. imo i wish there was a recorder built in to record the whole match from start to finish. Would be nice to watch and analyze.
  21. It's nice to simulate war in a test tube where everything is only dependent on the quality of your battle plan. But "luck" or "the way the ball bounces" plays a huge part once bullets start flying. I think they did a good job with the different vet levels to bring that luck in it. Some times only way to explain something is Luck.
  22. great post. when i first got my mortars to fire, it was a eureka moment. sticky before we get more bug post
  23. Do uniform mods "blanket load" or do they just load on lets say elite or vet soldiers and leave the lower skill squads alone? Is that even possible?
