  1. Indeed! Also...It's a lazy man that can't find his wife a second job!
  2. Looks great! Thanks for your efforts, look forward to it
  3. Nice thread! I'm really having a blast with CMBN. It really is the best game I've bought for many years and is a total change for me as I'm a flight sim buff normally. I did tinker with the CMBO demo many years ago but I am a relative novice with CM. I've just finished the Road to Montebourg campaign on veteran level and enjoyed some truly epic battles. There were many tense and surprising moments and a few 'rage quits' along the way but I've had an immense amount of fun with CMBN since its release and look forward to many years of enjoyment with it in the future. Strange that I prefer smaller engagements, possibly because it is easier to keep track of what's happening and who is firing at who etc. I'm starting to get to grips with larger battles but as I like to micro-manage a single battle can be a long haul sometimes. I think there's some nice work under the hood with the patch although I'm still experiencing some odd occurrences with line of sight/spotting. My troops still seem to get slaughtered quite easily when inside substantial buildings and behind walls, and artillery and mortar fire veers between deadly accuracy and not even close. Niggles aside (hopefully they'll be sorted), I'm with CMBN for the long haul and am really looking forward to the release of the Commonwealth module and beyond. I'm one of the ones that had a moan about CMBN being expensive and also the customs charges etc., but I have to say thanks to BFC as for me it's worth every penny  Cheers, SP
  4. Yeah, I'm finding them a real hog. vastly better fps without them.
  5. Astrocat is correct, shadows on seem to be quite a performance hit. I'm seeing 10-20fps improvement with shadows off. I'm getting 20-60fps with 'best settings' and AA on now so much improved. I've managed to beat the training scenario twice now on veteran difficulty so will ramp up the difficulty now
  6. Edit:- Title should read 'CMBN Demo Frame Rates/Performance' Really enjoyed playing through the tutorial (got my butt kicked!) My rig is as follows:- Q9550@3.8 Nvidia GTX480 4GB ram Windows 7 64 bit I'm running with details on high at 1680x1050 Should I be getting as low as 12-14fps during the tutorial? My graphics card is hardly getting warm even though I have 'prefer maximum performance' set in Nvidia CP. Although I would think CMBN is more reliant on CPU power I'm a little surprised that it has brought my system to its knees! Any thoughts/ideas/advice appreciated. Pete.
  7. My first post so hi to all on the Battlefront forum. I'm one of the old boys returning after playing CMBO many years ago. I'm very much looking forward to CMBN but this 'extra charge' news has taken the shine off to a certain extent. I already had a fairly sharp intake of breath at the $60 purchase price...and then another at the $20 for shipping such a small packet (I recently had a computer monitor delivered here in the UK for £10!). I am guilty of thinking that that the Steelbook would be coming from somewhere in the EU. I found nothing to make me think otherwise. Admittedly I didn't look that hard during the ordering process, but it looks like the extra charges are news (all bad) for many on here, especially in the UK. I won't be cancelling my pre-order but am very disappointed to have only found out this information when the release is almost imminent. The final cost here could be up around the £70 mark  and in hindsight I wouldn't have pre-ordered having had that knowledge earlier. Still, I do feel that I'll get my monies worth out of CMBN. As for future purchases...come on Battlefront! There has to be a better (and cheaper) way! Cheers, SP PS Apologies for my first post being a 'whinge', hopefully I can contribute more positively in the future.
