Forgive me if this has been posted before.
    Villers-Bocage Vidéo on YouTube
    A couple of questions;
    1. In the beginning, the couple of impacts around the British artillery piece. I think that’s indirect fire; thoughts?
    2. Towards the end, the scene with the knocked out Tiger I in an urban setting. That hole in the back of the turret; is that an armor penetration? And what probably made that big a hole?

Thank you. The quality of life of the series as a whole has definitely improved which makes me very happy.
WRT to the changelogs, there are readmes in the doccuments folder, for example CMFI with all modules:

It would be nice to have one document with all changes over time on the forums somewhere for reference, especially for discussing bugs or changes .
One last quality of life suggestion, especially since I know you guys are probably hard at work on documentation for the new modules - Some manuals include dates of availability and formations equipped. That's really handy and I wonder if we could see that format applied to all manuals.
    For example,
    Fortress Italy ❌

    Gustav Line ✔️

    Rome To Victory ❌

It's a fairly small thing but is very helpful.
On a more comprehensive note, The Black Sea  Formation Encyclopedia was absolutely outstanding.

I realize this would be a fair bit of work to retroactively add to all of the WW2 titles, but the dizzying array of formations in those titles is why I think it would be so handy. Please consider it for future modules though.
I know most people on the forums are wargamers and amateur historians and so on, but a layperson would not reasonably be expected to know the difference between Heer Fusiller and Grenadier battalions or what the difference is between StuG formations:

Whereas the Formation Encyclopedia does explain this kind of variety in Black Sea:

I saw some software store when I in collage since 2003 to 2007.and this kind of store sold cd such as this one in the picture.
The disc in this picture was clearly a fake, and some pirates had packaged it as if it were copyrighted software. I aslo played pirate CMBB sinice 2006-2008,sorry for that.
when from 2010 to 2014, we(about 10+ chinese player) give money to a friend who lived in USA,he helped me buy the CMSF,CMBN,CMFI,CMRT and DLC with them, because we did not how to buy the game self at that time. my friend give us the actived key to run the game. Through this time I still didn't know there are a account in bfc.com which the game key binding with it.I aslo register the fourm in 2006,and I thought there are only fourm account ,no store account.
In 2014 ,after we play the cmrt for several days, some player and I found the actived key were all the same.We gave 10+ times money, and only one key?! So we asked the friend in America,he said it seems only one key in one account ,no matter how many times the money. From that time ,I found the exist of the account in bfc.com and game binding with it.
Now I have a account in bfc.com and bought most of CM game besides cmsf2 and cma. Some key which bought through the friend's account were lose efficacy,so I bought the game again binding with my own account.
I aslo wait the DLC of CMRT for nearly 6 years.hope before the May in 2020.

A ambush command sure would be nice.
One of my present methods is have my unit wait out of the line of sight, , move it into line of sight trying to time it so that it engages for approx. the amount of time I want in the minute turn. next turn, immediatly get the heck out of there. (this method can be pretty successful)

Fire superiority is indeed important.. its the crucial element in micro-tactics success actually... however not taking advantage of cover is asking for trouble and will make closing with the enemy a little tough. You often don't have fire superiority in most cases and will need to create micro-situations where you can create them in order to attrit the enemy's combat power.
Maneuver and Firepower - can't bring your firepower to bear if you can't maneuver... can't maneuver if you are outclassed by fire.  Using cover to get where you need to in order to ensure local fire superiority is paramount and is the basis of all small arms tactics from the Russo-Japanese War to the present.  Ignore the lessons learned, like the major powers did in the opening stages of the First World War, and it will cost you dearly.
Being smart about maneuver and protecting your units with cover so you can gain local fire superiority is not only good-tactics, it is common sense.
All in my opinion of course... nothing personal, take it for what its worth.

I talk about moving through Open Terrain in this blog post:  Platoon Scouts

As the gents above have said, recon is the key.. that and Masked Terrain Movement ... even most open terrain has dips and rises that yo can take advantage of.

    Good luck.

Urban warfare 101: Do you actually need to go into the village at all?

I would take a look at the time, the points allocated to each ground objective and the points available for destroying the enemy and decide off those factors.

If you don't need to take the village, then why take the risk? Occupy the two minor objectives, surround the village and chip away at him from a distance at minimum risk.

I'm with @Hapless on this one... take or at least threaten the other objectives and terrain features before doing anything with the village... that alone will probably force him to move combat power from the village in order to support the other objectives.
Just my 2 cents, but your mileage may vary.

This has been racking my brain a bit...
Partial quote from initial post by Steve:

"The inevitable question is… when will it be ready?  Winter 2020 is as specific as I think I can be at this point.  That’s only a few months and it seems about right for what remains."
Winter 2020 to me is like saying the Battle of the Bulge happened in Winter 1944. It means that Fire and Rubble gets released at the end of 2020?
I request a more specific answer!
    Some suitable answers would be:
    1. By the time I get home from work on the day after my first master's degree term is over...say 1730 CST on 3 March 2020. That would be most lovely.
But I can hang for an extra week so the Schwimmwagen looks DoublePlusGood.

Yes, soldiers should tire more quickly.  I suppose if one was as "Beta Bil" has called me anal , it should impact projectile ballistics due to the density of air (velocities).
Does the difference 120F in the desert versus -30F on the steppe impact physics of rolled steel armor in terms of its material properties of brittleness vis-a-vis kinetic weapons?  BTW, I am asking for RL and not the game for those who are true students of history or material chemists among us.

^^^^ Assault is a way more useful command than it's often given credit for. The basic premise is a fire-and-advance functionality that will decrease or stretch the intervals between the fire/assault teams by how you space the waypoints.
Placing the waypoints distantly isn't too effective for most attacks as the teams will usually find their LOS interrupted by terrain/clutter. It can still be handy though for moving the entire squad without necessarily exposing the entire squad at the same time. In that way it's sort of a "staggered quick" command instead.

    * SLOW best used for the final set up of observation or an anti-tank weapon by infantry.

First, yes, the title is a pun.  As this is foundational data, but it was also drawn from playing around in the CMBN first Basic Training Mission.
I realized that one of my biggest problems is time and space.  Like last night, I was playing a small scenario of 45 minutes with 5 spatial objectives.  I realized I was running into trouble when the clock said +28m remaining and I had only completed objective #1.  Too much cautious recon (night mission).  So, I pulled out a Major Victory, but it required me for the rest of the scenario to double time it with split squads moving in leap frog bounding over watch.  And I truly finished, right as the clock struck 0m.
Thus, today, I decided to do something about my playing style.  One YouTuber had said he plans based what it would take to just walk the map.  Realizing that I had no concept of time and space, I decided to do some analysis which I will share here.  I realize that most of you ubermensch, do much more rigorous data collection, but I think this should be sufficient to get me started.

    ***** MOVEMENT (Scout/Squad) *****
    **********************************

    RESTED/FIT/REGULAR SCOUTS (MIXED/OPTIMAL CONDITIONS)
    Walk:     50M
    Quick:   120M
    Run:     140M (1t tired)
    Hunt:     40M
    Slow:     15M (2t tired)
    RESTED/FIT/REGULAR SQUAD (MIXED/OPTIMAL CONDITIONS)
Quick:    80M (complete in 1 turn) (same final dispersion as assault)
Assault:  50M [lead team] 0M [rear team] (for long assault)
20-25M (completes in 1 turn) (same final dispersion as assault)
              100M (completes in 3 turns)
(linear spacing is very much a function of the waypoint placement)
(at 30M/min, it is slower movement than manual player bounds)
    ---
    * Squad movement standing seems 66% of scout movement.
    * If there is overwatch, and the enemy is suppressed.  QUICK is probably your best way to cover ground.
    * HUNT is too slow to cover a map in most time frames, and is in the same class of commands as RUN and SLOW.
    * RUN is best used to sprint between cover to cover; especially as teams which find cover easier.
    * ASSAULT is probably a toss up between manual squad command and TACAI coordinated.  An ASSAULT should probably be no more than 100M to avoid the squad from getting too spread out.  Additional suppressing fire advised.
