Patience my friends. Soon you will get to ride those T34 flamethrowers yourselves. BFC will deliver, like they always do. Yeehaw.
I sure hope so. I've been reduced to playing Carniball on CNN games waiting for Red Thunder...please BFC rescue me.

Can"t believe you guys missed this, but just saw this on Order Page.
Red Thurrrrrsday!
CM: Red Thunder - News
That was for the pre-order announcement. It happened on a Thursday. Which means.......in 2 days it will be 8 looooooooong weeks of waiting.
-
I just hope they release it before April 1 so we don't have numerous "I am downloading now!" April Fool's threads to read.
-
How does this work?
The people who have PRE-ORDERED (like me) will receive an email telling us when RT is going to be released so that we can down load it before the general release - I presume to spread the load on the servers - so what time are we talking about? The time I get my email? The time it goes on pre-order release? The time it goes on general release?
Yes the people who pre-order get an e-mail when the game is released so they can download it first before the official announcement. Someone, of course, will announce it on the forum and then the wait begins for those who did not pre-order. From what i have seen, it's usually only a few hours to maybe a half a day before the official BFC announcement.

I had that feeling too. I went to the doctor and he told me I had Tom Jones syndrome.
"Is that rare?" I asked.
He told me "it's not unusual".
Wow, i am getting old. I actually got that one.

Great news Juju! Looking forward to your UI mod.
-
I do believe it will be tonight though, so make time chaps.
Inside information? I hope you are right.
-
Antmf why don't you download one of the demos for either CMBN or CMFI and give it a try. I believe the CMFI demo is the latest version of the game engine but either one will give you an introduction to the game.
-
Kind of strange that they have taken the pre-order announcement down....don't know whether that means a release is soon or there is a delay?
-
When I checked in at the site this morning, Red Thunder was available for purchase. Some time later, it was gone. Did I dream this? But in case I was not mistaken, one wonders what that could mean
Bah, made me look. Well it is almost 6 weeks since the announcement and I have 3 days off.
-
I completely agree that it should be release when it's done. I'm all for that. My beef is that if you put an item up for pre-order, you should give an estimated release date. However, if they always get their games done in 4-6 weeks then that's good enough.
I am new to this company, so I don't know their track record. I am very interested in getting started with a Combat Mission game, though. I would really appreciate any advice on what game to get first to start learning and enjoying? I am leaning towards Normandy. How is it nowadays with all the updates? Does it have a good tutorial? Is it using the latest game engine and graphics, decals, UI, etc?
Thank you in advance for any assistance!
Why don't you download the demo for either CMBN or CMFI while you are waiting for Red Thunder. It's a good introduction to the games.

My apologies if this has been posted before..but I just saw this article online about the history of Battlefront. Even has pictures of Steve and Charles. http://www.polygon.com/features/2013/1/29/3916154/turn-by-turn-battlefront-combat-mission

Great vids! Just got home from work and watched them. Excellent job on the maps too. Looking forward to next week's broadcast.
-
Great idea to show off Combat Mission on Twitch.tv. I go there sometimes to watch people play strategy games. Looking forward to it ChrisND. Hope we get to see a preview of Red Thunder.

I know the old CM1 games had a dedicated site for scenario designers...I think it was called the "Scenario Depot"... where scenario designers could test and get feedback. Maybe something like that would encourage people to design more scenarios for CM2?

"When Titans Clashed" by Glantz.

I guess "soon" is measured in months
Yes I usually wait for a "very very soon" before I get too excited.
-
To be fair, Norton is not the only AV that flags this. Check the support forum and you will see other AV's have also had problems with false positives in CM. It really isn't that hard to fix...just takes a couple of minutes to remove from quarantine and exclude from future scans.

I find patience gets harder and harder as i get older and older.
-
I know Steve said they were very close to releasing before the end of 2013, so i'm hoping it won't be long before preorders are announced.
Oh and an early Happy Birthday Mord

Thanks for sharing this. I had never seen this series before. Very interesting.

I am thinking that maybe they have to come at it from another angle—which would help that patchwork look as well. Maybe they could find a way to make it like smoke? That would look great. It could even drift.
Mord.
Yes that would look cool but I imagine an entire map covered in drifting smoke or fog would be a big processor hit...might be one of the reasons spreading fire is not in the game yet.
-
I'm hoping they can get that blocky terrain fixed that you get with the fog setting. I know Phil said in another thread that it was a difficult problem to get fixed.
Red Thunder manual is up
in Combat Mission Red Thunder
Posted
Thanks for posting the manual Chris. I noticed after a quick glance at the first few pages that it says the game will be expanded with modules and packs up to the Battle of Berlin. Does this mean the Eastern Front will be covered with modules instead of new games?
