    Actually, Steve did:
"At the moment we're doing some last minute TO&E fixes.  While making Rome to Victory I got into some retro revisions which had a ripple effect.  Almost done with it.
These last minute fixes do delay things, but worth it IMHO.  I'm still thinking that we can have them out before March (yes, of 2019). "

I've not touched Normandy for over 18 months now because of a broken game in a stock campaign = broken campaign.

Got to be honest I would never have purchased the rest of the Normandy family if I'd known it would take this long to get the issues fixed. I've played half a campaign of the CF and MG modules as a consequence. Considering the cost of these games it begs some serious questions about value!

Another view is to flip this around and ask why wouldn't they have been working on the patch this whole time?
It's been 2 years and 3 months now since they broke some pretty fundamental parts of their own game -- broken to the point that many people can barely enjoy the typical stock scenario. And not just one title broken, but all of them.
When the issues with v4 were first brought to light, I would have never believed that it'd still be almost literally years before we saw them fixed.
Perhaps Battlefront needs to start actually paying more testers and content creators, in order to get things moving along, instead of relying on the generosity of so many volunteers?
I've defended Battlefront and heaped praise on the game many times over the past 4 to 5 years, but at some point a customer's patience and good will just gets used up.
"Niche market" is no excuse for a fix to the underlying game engine to have taken this long.

What the hell is 'snak'? I understand that English is a living language which means that it continues to evolve, but I am far from convinced that its evolution should be in the hands of idiots. Not that I mean to say that BG is an idiot; in most things he has been reasonably sensible. But whoever was responsible for this particular barbarism should be locked up without access to the internet and fed only bread and water until he or she has come face to face with the error of his or her ways.

Arty I could live without but in the game I was playing troops jumped out of a trench when being fired on by machine guns - and they were not broken or panicking.  Machine guns in general is something that is hard to play a CM game without.

When a patch is 2 years in the making I start to question their ability to deliver, regardless of how long they take.

This is a bit ironic since we're waiting for a patch to fix problems introduced in a patch...
There's a middle ground between not testing things at all and then on the other hand testing things for more than two years.
Also, nobody is demanding they release a flawed patch.  But maybe releasing the patch that's has been done for a while and already is in CMSF2 would be nice.

Not in mine.  Jumping out of perfectly good trenches with arty falling all around is a game breaker.

During the two years we have waited for this patch, Europe and North America have physically moved about 5 cm (2 inches) further apart due to continental drift.

Don't be so hard on them.. I'm sure all seven Mac users appreciate that the patch was delayed again to make sure it works also on their machines
You wouldn't really feel good playing the game knowing that somewhere in the world, a lonely mac user sat quietly whimpering in the shadows, rejected by his gaming community, would you?
For my part, I wouldn't be able to bear it. Solidarity, brothers! Just because a few people choose to play on a widely unsupported gaming platform shouldn't mean that I should enjoy any special privilege just because I bought a Windows PC. All animals are, after all, equal, and the nail that sticks out gets hammered down.
So carry on and show patience, comrade...

I used to be a tabletop gamer.  Recall the first time I fired up CM1, the loading music, throwing Shermans down the road towards occupied positions.  Sensational.  Even dabbled again in tabletop long after that, whatever rules (and there were bloody loads from the more action movie style Flames of War to the 25 tables of Battlefront WWII) the club was playing with scenery that was at best dire compared to even CM1.  Spent lots of $$$, HOURS of time painting just to have ONE reasonable sized Armored Infantry Company with support, then there was the time to set up, and again, play against who (especially as the scourge of 40K and the now defunct Warhammer spread).
Gave up in the end, settled on CM for all my wargaming fix and happier for it.  What a long way CM has come since then.  For any of the faults folks might find with CM (I still find myself screaming, albeit less now (just luck of the draw) "Cheating AI" when the ONLY guy in my squad that gets taken out is the damn leader and a tank almost instantly spots and whacks my (I thought) perfectly set up and hidden AT ambush) even the worst of the odd anomalies still leaves the game light years ahead of even the best table top options (6 to hit, 3 to save blah blah blah mechanics) plus, outstanding terrain and a TO&E for all the modules that would cost thousands of dollars to collect, paint and store.  Makes me shudder to think.  With the quality of CMFB and CMBS (never thought I'd enjoy modern, though ATGMs still annoy the hell out of me!) I don't even find myself modding these days, well, not AS much.  More than a few times though, being retired, I've fired up a quick game at 10pm only to find the sun peaking through the blinds at 7am, just after the "bloody cheating AI ;)" zapped the FO team, and who gets takes out, yes the bloody observer!!!
    Looking forward to the patches.

Oh, shove it. If someone sees that the topic is about suppression from small arms, that's the discussion they should see when they open the topic - not a bunch of grumblings about health insurance and car repairs.

"But BFC's DRM process is no worse than any other. DRM just sucks for customers, period. After all they are meant to stop the game from running   BFC has made lots of improvements from CMSF1 days onward. I have had one DRM activation not work out in all my years (not counting a few bugs during development). Support had me fixed up really fast."
Again, take a look at the complaints in detail.  The DRM is much easier now that in the past.  But that legacy doesn't just disappear when its fixed.  The DRM issues with false flags and registry cleaner tools is what most people remember.  It caused some people to stop buying and playing.  Note that when someeon shows up in those forums to complain, one of the first questions asked is if BFC is still using that problematic DRM system.
For people who are here every day,  It seems so straight forward.  But when 80% of the games out there are using a system like Steam where the DRM is hidden and almost unseen, its a stark contrast to trying install the full CMBN family with 5-6 separate activations and IIRC a patch in there somewhere as well.  Its all well and good and seems so seamless for people who live and breathe BFC and CM is one of a limmited number of games.  But for someone that comes back to CM once every few months.  Its not easy.
In the end, its BFC's decision to cater to its limited core customers if it wants.  But this type of conversation is the result.

Every program ever in existence has had bugs on release.  But the main point here is that when you take at worst years, and at best months to get patches out, some of your customers hope you have developed a solid testing plan.
