  1. Thanks for the long awaited 1.32 patch. My 1st love was always modern and this will give me an excuse to re-visit CMSF. Unfortunatley, I'm suffering from the same problem regarding the name bug. I have just started a battle to find, amogst other things, that my BMP 2s are labelled Jagdpanzers in the silhouette picture box in the UI. Does this mean I should uninstall CMBN (and CMA just to be sure) as well? Of course, I'll do anything that needs to be done to cure my beloved CMSF but the thought of uninstalling any of these games, even temporarily, leaves me in a cold sweat.
  2. I agree with gunnulf, it is not gamey. In real life, it is normal for artillery to register targets that have fire called on them. It has always struck me as unrealistic that you need to go through the whole proccess of spotting when calling fire from the same guns onto a previously engaged target. In certain cases some re-adjustment may be required, especially if large amounts of rounds have since been fired at a different target. However, this should be minimal and the exception rather than the rule.
  3. When you put it that way, flares would be preferable.
  4. Not a bad suggestion but I usually hope it won't come to that. If Churchill Crocodiles make it into the CW module as has been rumoured, I suppose a few human candlewicks could also be improvised.
  5. Ok, that thread wasn't quite the well reasoned back and forth of why flares should/shouldn't be included that I was expecting but after reading Longleftflanks comment about straining CPUs I can certainly see why they don't feature. If it's a choice between illuminating rounds and smooth running, then forget the illume.
  6. I assume then that the answer to my question is no. Sorry, I shall look harder next time.
  7. I don't know if this has been brought up before but I havn't been able to find an existing thread regarding this. I find the night battles rather irksom and unrealistic due to the lack of any illuminating aids. In CMSF this wasn't really a problem due to the ubiquity of NVGs (at least for the blues). In a WW2 setting however, I do feel that night time missions are missing a very important element. Ideally, I would like to see starshells for indirect fire weapons and flairs carried by some units, possibly activated by a command similar to target smoke. I have no idea of what this would involve in terms of programming but I thought it was worth asking about. Is this something that is under consideration for inclusion in future modules?
  8. Great game. I've got CMSF with all modules + CMA. Never played any of the CMx1 games although I used to be a big fan of Steel Panthers. I love the way the gameplay changes with new theaters/terrain/TOEs. For example, the rather weak long range automatic fire of the US squads makes the proper use of the crew served weapons far more important. Also, the less accurate mortars and lack of VT fuses (for mortars) has forced me to change the way I use them entirely entirley. Anyway, thanks for all the hardwork, the CM series gets better and better. Now about the CW module...
