  1. Hi Bill, no problem, always happy to lend a hand... and you can be assured that I'm telling my online MP friends about Breakthrough, in fact I've got four email games currently going on right now. -- Dave
  2. Hey guys, I am thoroughly enjoying all the new scenarios for the Breakthrough expansion, and I'm slowly making my way through each one. I noticed a small mistake in the Russia 1914 scenario. Around the March 1915 turn, the game flashes a "news brief" that the Germans have started the Verdun offensive in the west. This is a year early, as the Verdun offensive actually began in February 1916. Other than this, the game is bug-free and a joy to play! Thank you for continuing to support SC WW1, this is by far the best collection of games on WW1 currently available.
  3. I've sent out my first turns to all of my opponents -- isnogud, Sami, Sharkman and rhj1971. I wish all of my fellow league members good luck and happy gaming! Dave
  4. Considering the many hours of enjoyment I've received from the SC franchise, the $25 seems to be just right. Especially considering this upgrade will include the improvements made in the Great War game (my favorite is the faster AI), it's a good return for the money. Thanks Hubert, et. al. for continuing to support and expand this great program!
  5. Hi Hubert/Bill, I'm currently playing my first 1939 SOE campaign as the Axis side vs. AI. It's June 1941 and I've decided to launch an invasion of England. I land several units in England and establish a beachhead. Then, during the Allied turn, I'm informed my invasion has caused "alarm" in the Soviet Union -- which moves the Soviet leaning towards the Allies some 30 points, from about 65 to 97! The Soviets promptly declare war at the end of the Allied turn. I was quite surprised at the jump in Soviet mobilization. Had I known it would be so high, I would definitely have reconsidered Sealion. My question is, what is the average percent change for the Soviets during a German invasion of England? What can be done (other than not invading) to prevent such a jump? And also, a suggestion -- perhaps a warning about this allegiance shift could be added to the 1939 player's guide, to give Axis players a heads up that the USSR's response to a Sealion can be rather extreme!
  6. Hi Hubert, I just wanted to post that I've patched the game up to the 1.03 version. Prior to that, an average AI turn lasted between 14-18 minutes. Now, on average, the AI turn is between 3-4 minutes, and sometimes even faster! Not sure how you did it, but thanks so much for speeding up the AI turn. Before I had to set aside major chunks of time just to get a turn or two in, now I can do multiple turns in the same sitting. Once again you have provided fantastic value for the money! Dave
  7. Wonderful AAR, guys! Thanks for sharing... like someone said upstream, I'm learning some new tactics reading this, so I'll be following your progress with great interest.
  8. I will turn 39 in two days... been playing board wargames since I was 12 and computer wargaming since I started playing "Clash of Steel" in 1993.
  9. Bill, it is well worth purchasing, I think you'll be very happy with it.
  10. I am very much looking forward to the new WW2 add-on. It looks like this will be a fantastic mod... and the fact that you guys are adding it as a free bonus (rather than selling it as an expansion, which would certainly be worth it) is pretty awesome. Thanks for all the hard work, can't wait until we get to try this out. Dave
  11. I just remembered another atlas with lots of good WW1 maps. "The Atlas of Warfare" by Richard Natkiel has a whole chapter devoted to the First World War with lots of clear, concise maps of most of the war's action. While the book is out of print, I found it at reasonable prices on ebay and Amazon. Definitely recommended. Dave
  12. Airboy, thanks so much for an excellent AAR. I am enjoying how you decided to focus on the Russian front first and forgo the early attacks in the west. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Dave
  13. Hubert, thanks for the peek at the new mod. While I'm looking forward to it, I'm glad it's not out just yet, as I'm still trying to work through all the WW1 campaigns included in the game. But the mod looks fantastic, and once again thanks for giving such incredible value to your games... as Bossy57322 said above you can't argue with free! Dave
  14. The new changes and features look great... thank you Bill and Hubert for the great support of this game. Now I will have to finish my current game quickly so I can implement the patch! Dave
