Huge loss for our knights of the sky. This night, in result of collision of two jets over Zhytomyr oblast experienced pilot "Juice" has died. He was one of "energizers" of F-16 supply for Ukraine and has been preparing for training on F-16 in October.

    "Juice" on the photo

Also,as became knowingly, other known pilot "Nomad" was lost in sortie on 2nd of June.

    Oh damn, that's a shame.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, he sat down for two 40-minute-long videos with the Aircrew Interview channel on YouTube last year. Worth a watch.

The awesome thing is I got to talk to the devs on the discord latenight one night and almost noone was there.  I mean most of this is known anyways but I confirmed some stuff

Crew will be modelled, not interiors.  The T80 will appear. ERA is iffy, prolly not, Other theaters are planned.  Infantry is definite, the level is unsure.  Air support is obviously planned.  They wouldnt divulge anything about when my beloved (the t64) let alone the hammerhead, leo 1 and bmp2 (thats gonna be a big deal) will arrive.   Same story with when soviet and german voices will come, the voice acting for the US is *amazing* so Im pumped

The campaign is going to blow your mind.  They got BIGGG Plans, logistics, lots of maps, battle types like now PACT attacks use nato formations numbers wise. If you play 'silver dart' you see a more realistic scenario - 2 m1s vs like 16 t72s and a couple atgms.   in the futre PACT attacks will reflect the different doctrine and numbers.

smoke dischargers are 100% gonna be in game

you know you can play the t34 right? you gotta (and u can win) take losses as e germany but dont lose. take A LOT of losses but dont lose. the campaign u can lose battlles.  theres a CHANCE if yourun low enuff on vehicles that you will be issued T34s.  ive seen proof but hasnt happened yet

if you olay the original training range (without preview vehicles) and make sure to shoot every target on thr range theres an easter egg

Uh what else.... MP is gonna be mind blowing.  I mean I paid for the steam version but I was playing this for 6 months for 5 bucks man. The team, their live streams their demeanor, they got the right vibe.  TBH they didnt have streams and **** in 1999, IDK what steve and co sound like, but I really get the BFC back in 1999 vibe from these guys.

Like Id put 50 bucks on this game becoming an instant classic when its released.

BTW can you believe that these clowns online were arguing to me (on tankograd) that 3bm15 was superior to m833?

Oh and apparently GHPC is  NATO propaganda. I said look its extremely EA. your literally judging a book by reading half of chapter 3 and thats it.  I also pointed out the Soviets arent even in yet. Anyways idk if theyre tankies or what but after I worked a goddamn 9 hour shift came home, saw I accidentally didnt leave the discord and some Brit fellow said 'i dont think hes here anymore' then the rest of the server dogpiled that and basically said  I was lurking and I was there and all this weird insulting ****.  Like my god, dude if u guys think Im lurking on discord bc Im mad like what kind of lives are these ppl living? who has the time for that ****?

Hey man, sorry for the late response; been busy finishing up the school year and haven't played GHPC much - or at all, actually. And much of my free time was spent reading the big thread.

Thanks for the tip about the T-34; I've got the whole summer off and am looking to put a lot of time into the game. Including using the T-34 hack you've described! And looking forward to all the other stuff you've described. I read your post a while back but didn't have time to reply. Upon re-reading, I'm pumped about the T-80! I missed you mentioning that the first time I read. There's just something about the Soviet tanks that I find so intriguing.

I finally got to play GHPC again with the most recent updates (including one yesterday or today?) Gosh, it's an awesome game, and I like how it provides something different from CM. I like that there aren't going to be interiors. To me, this reminds me a bit of the light flight sim "Strike Fighters." I loved that series, and it helped me scratch the flight sim bug until I got older and could afford - thankfully - a better PC to run DCS and the many BMS iterations. GHPC plans just seem right.

Got smoked in a Bradley by a couple of Sagger missiles fired by Hinds in one of the new missions - "Crossroad Screen" I think it was - this evening. Could've used those smoke dischargers you mentioned!

I'm sure you saw it - heck, you might have even watched it live - but the team released another developer stream the other day. I watched a few minutes of it before I jumped into the game again. Always good when the developers start the stream by saying, "We have been busy. Very busy." I know about you mean about Battlefront vibes. Awesome.

Off to watch the rest of the steam and to try out "Silver Dart." Thanks for the tip!

Definitely interested if you've found out more/find out more in the future. I'll keep on eye on this thread.

also dont wanna break forum rules but anyone who hasnt check out GHPC

Tank game. I think it shows A TON OF PROMISE.  It FEELS like the BFC team did circa late 90s ( the dev chats, small team, etc)

Oh, can't wait for multiplayer and new armor (T-62, Leo 1, etc.). Certainly does; small team, they have a grip on what they're doing...it's awesome so far. Plus, all the stuff - fire and maneuver, using terrain, spotting, smoke, the list goes on - I've learned from playing CM over the years is instantly applicable to their environment. Good call!

a lot of toys, a lot of formations, a lot of premium quality maps (Dont forget about the 5 map orsha series or Berlin 1945), a lot of decently fleshed out factions (Though not too far off from the originals), game runs fast, 75-80% of the wehrmacht fought and died on this front, game can simulate 1943 easily and most 1942 with a couple mods.

It's worth it for the maps alone which port to cmcw, cmbs easily and maybe cmbn+fb.

This! I too find the ability to port the maps and use the modern-ish (re: CMCW - although look at what the Russians are allegedly rolling out now...) and modern (CMBS) TO&E on said maps absolutely fascinating. The series, in general, is really hard to describe to those who haven't taken the plunge. I've tried ha!

No, these were different attacks. Failed one was on Zaporizhzhia front, other one - more likely in Avdiivka area. Destroyed YPR had other symbols on the hull. White cross which added later yellow circle (probably "southern front" marking). YPRs on the video with attack, which passed close to the operator have two wide vertical white stripes and clear writing "110 ombr" - means "110th mechanized brigade". Also it has own name "казино" ("casino")

Ah, I see what you mean! I've gotta pay better attention to the details ha ha. Thanks for the clarification and sorry for the confusion.

And thanks for all your contributions!

It's claimed 110th mech.brigade assaulting near Bakhmut, but as I know 110th fought in Avdiivka sector. There is opinion also on the video is some sort of tarining, but commader in the trench says to machine-gunner: "Don't shoot! Shoot only if you have seen a target!"

Also when YPRs approached to treeplant in first time he says "Now infantry will disembark", then after second approaching he asks "Aren't infantry inside APCs?"

Looks like APCs just made supressive fire at positions in tree-plant and Russian either hadn't RPGs or got enough moral supression.

The Warzone has a more complete picture of the action involving the YPRs shown in this clip.

    https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-armored-personnel-carriers-make-a-charge-in-bakhmut

Interestingly, the clips that @Haiduk posted yesterday afternoon of destroyed YRPs are apparently from this attack.

Overall, this thread continues to amaze me as the rest of the article touches on many of the things discussed here over the last 12 to 24 hours. Minus the insight, of course.

*Hope it's cool to link to the Warzone; been following this thread since the first post by @Probus, and I'd hate to commit a faux pas as I don't recall much linked from said site.

  7. @BornGinger  Do you have the ability to invest in a gaming laptop? Without sounding flippant, I'm in New England (USA) and the cost of everything has increased significantly, if not as much as in the UK. It's been a hot and humid summer and running the A/C has cost us a lot of money. Thankfully I purchased a Lenovo gaming laptop a few months ago - under the guise of needing it for work - with a laptop RTX 3050 graphics card that absolutely crushes all CMx2 games. Battery life is 2-3 hours if I don't have things running in the background. It's a significant upfront cost but I see myself having this device for a long time, given the longevity of Battlefront games and it of course it runs the random stuff that I need for work as teacher. Full disclosure, I have a much more beefier rig for sims DCS/IL-2 Great Battles so my laptop is pretty much solely for Combat Mission so I use electricity besides the laptop so its not a panacea.

Interesting, probably the first T-64BM2 I've seen in this war so far. It's the latest and most advanced BM Bulat model (has 1,000 hp 6TD engine, thermal gunner optics, and additional ERA on the side to cover the autoloader more completely).

Also, interesting video from the Austrian Bundesheer about Ukrainian artillery with GIS Arta and Starlink (use auto translate for English subtitles)

Funny, I just today, in an effort to be a bit more realistic, I swapped out the Oplots for the more ubiquitous T-64bvs in the "Dueling Shashkas" scenario. I originally was going to use Bulats but decided against it as I hadn't seen any in the conflict as yet. Good catch! Bulats here I come!

In the original play through this morning, even switched the leadership, morale, and fitness of the Russians to be a bit more - ahem - appropriate. Ha, still got smoked.

  9. Great video. Just played this scenario again tonight. Have actually played this a half dozen times or so, with sufficient enough time in between each battle that I forget my  approach from the previous playthrough.

Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. I can say that those landmines between the ambush site and the three story building get me every. single. time.

As Pandur mentioned, I am used to whipping the Syrians with the US Army or USMC. This was a nice change of pace.

And seems like a good tune up for forth coming CMCW, in which the US won't be so dominate.

  10. Well done! I love the improved main gun muzzle blast. I commented aloud, "oh wow, that looks like the real thing" after seeing it in game. My wife overheard me, asked me why I am talking to myself, and rolled her eyes when I told her the reason. This tends to happen a lot when playing CM. A true mark of a job well done. Thanks for your contribution!

I see a lot of voting :) but not much commentary ? No questions ? ( the black squares are "?" icons that weren't in the game yet ).

I dismounted most of the German infantry from their Marders in case they could be seen early. Man, those Panzerfaust 3's are large !

Admittedly, I'm a BFC forum lurker and always have questions but neglect to ask. Must say old boy that you nailed these two. Thought both you and Bil were doing something to enable those black squares and was super curious about the size of the Panzerfaust 3. Thanks to the both of you for demonstrating the new features; I cannot wait to get my hands on my own copy.

  12. Hey Stagler, awesome uniforms. I have been playing around with them a bit and decided to use your uniforms but keep the default helmet. It could just be me but I have found that your uniforms contrast nicely with the Russian gear and the default helmets, as the camo patterns are similar. Well done!
