  1. Well that is cool. I figured all that was written by Sergei. It worked - sort of. I had to copy the link location and search for that since the link text was shortened by the editor. In google maps (e.g. maps.google.ca) search for the string below to see it displayed: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/55621671/CMBN%20Commonwealth%20module%20locations.kml
  2. These are two of my favorite mods - right after Vin's animated text. I was wondering if Bill Lockton (Lo Vis Icons) and Daniel Lopez (Niessuh contact icons) could comment on their plans to add the new nationalities to there wonderful mods. Lo Vis Icons http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1121 Niessuh contact icons http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=1154 PS. To be clear, as far as I can tell, both of these mods are working just fine with the CW release they just don't modify the new nationalities unit / contact icons.
  3. Speaking of Cromwell tanks - wow I am loving them. I never really paid any attention to them at all. But last night I was slowly adding mods back in starting and stopping the game. To keep things interesting I played a small armor only meeting engagement quick battle. I let the computer pick forces. Anyway I ended up with some Shermans and some Cromwells against the computer's favorite Panther and some Stugs. I sent the Shermans one way and the Cromwells the other. The Shermans soon met a Panther and started dueling (which ended badly for two of the Shermans). But I ordered one of the Cromwells to flank at high speed to see if I could get the Panther from the side. Wow that sucker moved like a bat out of hell, came up on the Panther from the side and got a penetrating hit. Then after shrugging off a hit from a Stug they withdrew a bit and eventually took out the stug and then I sent them back to finish off the panther - which was obviously damaged. It was one of those great moments and now I am interested to play a more serious game with Cromwells.
  4. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I just figured Sergei originally wrote it for him self not for us. Very cool set of pins Sergei despite my not being able to read Russian I still think it is very interesting.
  5. Yep, mad but not scared. Before my guy could get off another shot he was taken out by a big explosion. To his right a few moments later a 50mm mortar team dropped a shell right on top of the Stug. Now the Stug is mad at them - and they are running for cover.
  6. Screen shots now in the screen shot thread... http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1346137&postcount=210
  7. I cannot believe I am going to be the first to submit CW module screen shots to this thread. This is from a QB I setup to try the PIAT against German armor. I have a Canadian infantry company (with a 6lbr and two Achilies). The Germans are crossing the bridge and my first PIAT team fired its first shot from a second story window. (Yes, I did give them a face command toward the tank. I expected them to be at the window but I'm not complaining) And missed - rats I was hoping the first one would be a hit.
  8. In a related note I can confirm that Symantec causes a similar problem. For that machine I had to tell it to ignore my install directory and run the installer again. Then I as happy.
  9. I setup a quick battle to test - one of my piat teams just took a pot shot at an approaching stug - from a 2nd story window. Screen shots to come - hopefully tonight but could be tomorrow. Unfortunately they missed:-(
  10. Roger that. Humm do I have to do something extra on my 64 bit Windows vista machine to get CMBN 1.10 install to make maximum use of my machine's memory? I figured from reading the change list all was well.
  11. +1 to that - I feel like I am part of the club again:D Good idea - the real flood of tickets, posts and PMs start in a few hours.
  12. So, I have a pc but the process is most likely similar. Here is what I will be doing - once it is available: Starting with the fact that I have the existing game installed in a directory named CMBNP1. 1) Leave the current working install alone. Do not mess with it, don't look at it funny:) 2) Install the base game into a new directory called CMBNCW 3) Install the patch onto the CMBMCW directory Note: you now essentially have two installs of the same thing except the new one has no mods. 4) Install the CW module into the CMBMCW directory. Now you have both versions installed and you can keep playing your current pbem games with the original and start your new ones with the new install.
  13. I bet. Think about how frustrated we would be if we had already paid and had problems downloading. I just wish I could join the club and eat my cake too.
  14. I highly recommend doing that. I ran with the original game and the patch side by each for a while. One by one I migrated PBEM games over or played them on the original game if there was a problem.
  15. Oh please don't make us wait anything like that long. We are ready to give you money now! What is the criteria for deciding to open it up to the rest of us unwashed masses? Do you have to wait until a certain number of pre-orderers get it? In which case come on you guys get going. Or is it once the traffic has dropped off? In which case - nothing to see here move along hopefully a lot off people's email is down.
  16. Well that sucks. OK actually it is awesome, or it will be awesome once I can order it too. Note to BFC: I would have gladly given you money for a pre-order but I have *no* desire to have any physical media mailed to me. Please, if you are going to give preferential downloading to those that pre-order - let those of us that only want a download to join the club
  17. Are you guys for real or are you just yanking our chains. The monkey does not like his chain yanked. http://www.trunkmonkey.com/2005/01/18/trunk-monkey-2-throwing-eggs-suburban-auto-group/
  18. Yeah, I saw it sever times in my recent game of Huzzar! But also in much smaller scenarios too. Don't bet on it:) I am running Vista with 4G and see it. What I have found that works is always restart the game after you play a turn. By that I mean if you are playing turns for your 5 PBEM games shut down the game between each one. That seemed to reduce the occurrence. Some one else reported that positioning the camera low and such that very few unit icons were in view and waiting 5s before pressing the big red button and then waiting another 5s before pressing the OK button. I have been doing that - not sure if it helps but I have been doing it. The most important thing that has been helping me deal with this is I always save the game before pressing the big red button. When the save dialog comes up I add _save at the end. Then when I press the big red button my turn has _save 001 at the end. I then backspace away all that and press OK. That does not stop the problem of the game forgetting your turn but it means that the cost is only a restart and reload. Hope that helps your remaining time with 1.01 be less stressful.
  19. Yeah, those bugs are the worst kind. I am happy to hear that this is likely behind us. All the wishing that this worked different or that feature got added pale in comparison to spending time working out some new orders for your guys and having the game forget about them. So, thumbs up. I look forward to pressing the big red button without a care in the world:)
  20. Yeah but things are all iterative. Yes, it is true, once you think you have a releasable build there is a finite time between when you make the call to ship it and when it is available. But part of that time is final testing. And if you find something you want to fix before releasing... It has to be investigated... Then fixed... Then some testing of the fix... Then a new build... And then the clock of "finite time before shipping" it starts all over again. And trust me you don't want them to short change that final testing process. LOL good point. I guess I am not helping either:)
  21. We don't know the list of changes in 1.1 yet but Moon did throw us a bone saying that the list of changes would be out this weekend: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1344604&postcount=3 OK more like he waved a bone under our noses for us to smell and beg for:)
  22. Yep I have lost lots of Shermans too. Flanking is the way to deal with the German big cats. And as the German player you want to prevent that. So, you will lose a lot of Shermans but if you keep the threats to the German tanks coming from many angles and simultaneously you can come out on top. Of course that is easier said then done some times.
  23. As a software developer myself I cannot count the number of times we have put the product "to bed" Friday which caused the poor testing team to spend their whole weekend testing. What happens the next week totally depends on what the testers find. If things are well then they get a few more days to make sure and we ship it. If things are not we have emergency fixes over the weekend or at the beginning of the week. If things are really bad we end up starting over again. Often putting the next build "to bed" Friday again:D This is a tricky time during a release. There is always a list of known bugs and someone needs to make the call as to which to hold the product for and which live with. Those are hard choices, especially when you know you have customers that really want the product:D In fact in my industry we *never* tell our customers when a new release is coming out. The only people clamoring for a product to ship are internal stake holders. I cannot imaging the pressure there would be if we had customers with shipping date expectations. Ian a guy, same as Ken "with NO knowledge, NO hints, NO communications from behind the screen, NOTHING, NADA, ZILCH"
  24. Oh sorry I was not clear. Troops do *not* do this now. What I wrote was my suggestion to Battle Front.
