  1. I'm an ex 11M so that's a tough one lol but I'd go with what I was really trained for and that'd be a groundpounder.
  2. Count me in the camp that has seen what I could swear was a bit of bracketing going on before seeing solid hits. Don't get me wrong, I've also seen plenty of first shoot hits with various results but I sure am not seeing anything I'd term 'robotic' or anything I'd confuse a modern MBT with. We need to keep in mind as others have said that we have one sample as of right now to draw conclusions from and while I wouldn't say it's down to knife fighting range these aren't what I'd call long term gunnery duels. Those Marders btw are plenty effective as well. My first go I didn't lose a one and they did quite a number on the Shermans if you keep them in teams of two or three. One or two may miss but three of them working in a group on one target makes for lopsided fights.
  3. I think the Pacific theatre is more suited for strategic level playing myself, but to each their own. I was never a fan of CMSF but it was a good solid game when I tried it out, just never caught on with it. A WW3 setting though similar to Red Storm Rising setting, that on the other hand would be in oh so elequent terms...kick ass.
  4. Reminds me of what we would do to the noobs that'd report for the first time to the motor pool. We'd give them a hammer and tell them to check for soft spots on the Sheridan so they'd proceed to walk around it tapping on it and intently listening for something akin to a hollow spot. It never got old. ...which ties into there are no soft spots in an AFV relative to a human body.
  5. Regarding the last paragraph I played Busting the Bocage last night and I found a lot of what you said in the last paragraph pretty spot on imo. I lost 3 Shermans to shreks (I've learned to dread the sound of them firing...again) and in addition had one immobilized due to errant arty and another Sherman with just about everything knocked out due to multiple hits from a shrek as well. I witnessed all sorts of crazy behaviour from my crews and found all of their actions very plausible. By the time I won a total victory due to a German surrender the whole company was in a nervous state and this was reflected in tanks reversing pell mell by just machine gun fire bouncing off them. It was very hard in the later stages to mount effective bounds forward because it didn't take much to rattle troops to include infantry. Oddly enough none of my tank losses came from the Paks
  6. That's great news to hear, thanks for clarifying.
  7. Oh man, please oh please...like really please don't tell me you're gonna hold onto the game for another couple of days for the tweaking stuff  I'd rather see you guys do the fine tuning with a patch since I find this stuff plus a lot of other stuff posted to be relatively minor quibbles. If it was game breaking I can see holding it, but imo I've seen nothing that would warrant that, once again imho.
  8. I knew there was bocage in Plants vs Zombies for a reason!!
  9. No for #2 I believe. Maybe down the road we'll get spreadable fire etc but as of right now it's not in the game.
  10. I'd agree as I have been thinking 4 minutes is a bit long for direct coms. Assuming everything is set up etc and they are under no pressure and they are experienced I'd think from sighting a target to dropping some effective rounds would take about 2 minutes maybe 3 at max. Maybe fng's would be 4 minutes I don't know but a well dialed in crew should be quicker imo with effective eyes on target.
  11. No, that's not to much but he shouldn't be able to run all over the map either I hope. If so, that's a problem imo. 30lbs of crap ain't that much but after 10 minutes it is if ya follow me.
  12. Oddly enough I have a source stating a bit the opposite. From The Encyclopedia Infantry Weapons of World War II (a book I've been reading a lot lately) on pages 110 and 111 for the Granatwerfer 36 I have the following- "It is interesting to note that a trial of a captured 5cm mortar was conducted in Britain in 1941, and the report observed that it was, 'well constructed and easy to operate, but the degree of accuracy was un-necessarily high'. This must be one of the few times when a complaint has been voiced that a weapon was too accurate." It goes on to note that the 5cm was mostly superseded by the GW34. It seems your reference speaks more about the actual ammo used which my source does not so I wonder if that is where the difference lies? Interesting nonetheless imo.
  13. I'm in the camp of if its something they can fix in a day or two, hold it and do the fixing. I don't want to wait any longer than 24-48 hours though as at this point I know they could release the game with no real problems and I've paid my money for it so I'd like it now please Patch for later so we can start the when's the patch coming out threads I understand they'd like to hammer out whatever niggling problems they've identified but tbh that's something that can go on forever and on this board you'll never please everyone. Hell, there are pages and pages going on about things that aren't even going to be in this game yet they still argue/debate about it. So yeah, the sooner I can download full game the happier I'd be at this point.
  14. I've heard the stories about charlies and the competitions they'd have over accuracy against each other. I also heard a lot of b!tching about lugging baseplates around iirc.
  15. Good job coming across like a jerk if that's what you were attempting to do. Fact
  16. A game changer imo. They work they way they always should have. I've seen several people mention that they had vehicles just blow up and not a clue where it came from. That's impressive and the ones in the game aren't even buried in camo nets or foliage
  17. I have a 4850 and drivers from 03/08/11 and it works fine for me with most stuff maxed.
  18. Yep...you may have won the battle, but the war is long from over.
  19. I am kinda surprised you guys didn't include that awesome briefing regarding all the extra info about bocages/tactics and so forth that was in the 'busting bocage' mission in the tutorial mission tbh. You'd have to mod it a bit (no rhinos etc) and sure its all in the pdf...but come on, who doesn't lick the icing of the cupcake first Sad truth is many who have no experience in this kind of patience game may not be prone to read the pdf and instead jump into the game and then get all butthurt when they can't figure stuff out. Most of them should be able to slug through the briefing at least before hitting the OK/GIMME NOW NOW NOW!! button and the ones who stick it out may be future wargamers/customers.
  20. Yeah, curious to hear about the whole prone verus kneeling thing myself. I was trained as a leg (11M) and I don't remember any special instruction on being told to shoot from the kneeling over prone due to body armour? If anything prone provides a better firing platform and reduced target for someone else to aim for, course you give up reduced LOS etc as well but hey life is full of compromises. So, was this just meant for a gameplay reason and if so why? I mean you do the 3 second rush a certain way and there was no kneeling involved in that either I have no clue how they trained the boots for WW2 so was this decision related to your knowledge on that maybe? So there's no confusion where I am coming from, I have absolutely no beef with what you guys did btw, I am strictly just curious. Great game and a blast to play through the demo.
  21. Are the arcs mod friendly? I wouldn't mind seeing them being ghosted a bit more either although they do the job the way they are now.
  22. Even though this game is by miles better in 'what you see is what you get' I believe there is still a certain bit of abstraction that goes into the game. Just because it looks like your guys can hurdle it (and I agree in that pic most people could probably clear it in a flying leap) doesn't mean they can in game. I mean the water in the game looks drinkable but I don't see any of my virtual soldiers topping of canteens either
  23. You just try turning the sound down and then back up when game is done loading or am I missing something here? I just got off of work so you know my mind is not where it probably should
