  1. The Singling battle is very nice, PanzerMike. Thanks. Especially the map, which is beautifully done. You got most of the info from' Small Unit Tactics, Ranger Actions', I assume, and according to that Abrams was indeed outnumbered and the enemy was in excellent defensive positions, and he did, as you say, pay the price.

  2. Lol. Looks dark and miserable, BodyBag, just like Belgium in winter.......

But I think BodyBag may have a point in relation to some of those pics, Worghern - in that sometimes the sky looks too blue for the dark ground beneath. Maybe it's not that the land is too dark, but the sky is too bright?

The Autumn colourings are particularly beautiful, i think.

  3. I too have probs with the moire pattern, and find that altering the anistropic settings to 16x etc doesn't get rid of it.  Your mod looks superb, Worghern, and it would be great if you could do a version of the ploughed fields that would be without a pattern that led to that dizzying, swirling effect. I'm happy with clay courts, as you say. Kieme's mod (which I have in RT) doesn't work with the snowy ploughed fields I assume, Harry?

  4. I can't handle anything above a company size force. Or, I can, but it begins to seem odd as I can't then keep up with everything that's happening - meaning I can't micromanage the AI's responses closely enough, either on RT or turns. And I find the AI slow to respond to threats - so slow that soldiers get regularly killed because, for example, the AI doesn't just immediately hit the dirt when raked by a sudden MG, even if on Hunt, I still lose people before the AI reacts. But the QBs are great for setting up manageable level forces. There are limits to the fun, I think. Has anyone ever seen the enemy AI run into your forces, stop, withdraw carefully and try to pin and flank you? I have never seen anything like this. Mostly the enemy AI just keeps coming. There don't seem to be any more complex doctrines written in - am I right? And is 'Meeting Engagement' still kind of broken in QB? It's ten minutes before the enemy even appears on the map, by which time it's turned into a Defend (me defending all the easily seized objectives)? Anyone see this? Thanks.

  5. Springel. The Scandinavians? But that would include the Swedes - who actually call Germany Tyskland, not Saxony, or something like that. Ditto the Danes and Norwegians. Surely you can't have meant the Finns - who do call Germany Saksa - because Finland is not part of Scandinavia. It's Nordic. Please. Get your terms right.....:)

  6. Thanks Benpark. It's a superb map, without a doubt. I think I had the impression the railway bridge was closer than in real life because there's no atmospheric effects to give a sense of distance when you look at the map in the editor. It's a real achievement (and an incomparable improvement in this series) to have maps that really try to be historically accurate. Many thanks for your work.

  7. Lol. But I think it's the Scottish that dominate, actually.....looking at key positions of power currently and historically.

It's not just the English who don't care about the name of your country by the way. My wife's Finnish and they call it Hollanti, I believe. I'm sure there are others too. No one cares, Springel, that's the truth.....

  8. Interesting. Never knew that. Thanks. English parochialism, I guess. We are used to calling The Netherlands either that or 'Holland'. The word 'Holland' means 'The Netherlands' in English, perhaps unfortunately if there are sensitivities about it. But now I'm wiser I will adjust my usage.....:)

Now my 'rant'......'England' and 'Scotland' and 'Wales' are not counties, they're countries, actual nations, with nationality attaching, each one different, 2 of them with utterly different legal systems too, but all with the status of nations/countries that entered into a unity of nations way back when (shortly to be dissolved, perhaps, when Scotland might become a separate nation again). Perhaps only your English was wrong (in which case, sorry again, as I have no Dutch [as we call the language] at all!!)? Did you mean that the United Kingdom of the Netherlands is composed of the nations of Groningen, Limburg, Holland etc? Or are they - as you in fact said - only counties? In which case the analogy doesn't hold. :))

  9. Benpark, and Springel (is that Springel from over in the BFTB forum, I wonder?) - I was wondering about the scale of the Nijmegan map. It looks smaller than reality to me. maybe something has been said about this and I missed it. If I compare it to street view etc then it looks to be about 25% smaller than reality - is that right? Just wondering. It's still a wonderful map, but I was curious about the scale. Thanks.

    Peter

  10. I have had - intermittently - the same problem with the Nijmegan battles and maps. Hangs at 39%. Sometimes a re-start will do it, sometimes not. Very odd. definitely a bug going on, I think. There's nothing running in the background etc. As with the first poster, I'm running a decent enough system and have had no issues with other CM titles (FI, for example). I would think someone needs to look at it.

  11. What's the spoiler? Sorry. There are many messages about this scenario that discuss various tactics that might be used. This is just one of them. It's not a puzzle with one solution that I can give away. I can only suggest what tactics to use, and, indeed, others have already suggested these tactics - which was how I got to using them. Sorry, can't see this as a spoiler.
