  1. i confirm this. i've started my US tour 5, send an order to a sniper, got a phone call, push space bar twice (yeap, i know, should have been once), leave my computer, came back ... sniper dead. reload last save, and bang pathfinding was under lsd.
  2. can't check that now but that could be true. gonna check it as soon as possible.
  3. you're right, pathfinding is worst than ever. i've seen some infantry stuck on a tree while the rest of the squad is 200m away, loosing guys in fighting is ok, loosing guys in woodcutting is not really welcome !! very often units are ordered to move 100 m forwad, they go left for 30m, then stop. with tow3 you need to do more micro management thant before because of this insane pathfinding behaviour.
  4. gunner skill is suppose to do the job, as, actually, i did not reach big level of gunnery on any of my mortar crews, i can't say if this works exactly as it is in TOW Kursk and Caen. anyway, with a low skill crew, do not target a point but a circular sector around that point. fx the middle of a village to drop shells all over the place. In Kursk/Caen, with full skill, i was able to destroy the target with only a few shots, with a new damage model, i don't know if mortars are still as efficient as they were.
  5. well, here is what i'm thinking after tour 3 of US campaign (btw i play Tow games as a micro management game) : - absolutly dislike new unit selection mode, so switch to old one - absolutly dislike the removal of the weapon pick up button, had to configure it on settings while it was not complicated to keep it on screen !!! - the "random" order of battle is fun AND disturbing. - like strategic "mode" a lot. - got a lot, really a lot of problems with unit's path both with tanks and infantry, never met such ones in a previous tow game. - feel like Xp gains have been reduced for troups after battle. not sure, but that's what i feel. - icones of engineers units are f***** up. no icone for MG or bazooka. - still want flamethrowers
  6. as i'm playing on Xp, the answer is yes
  7. My games are on a dedicated hard drive, i just launch Caen, and got no problems after.
  8. well, i had a 1.3.2 version, and i successfully install Caen, and have no problem to play with it
  9. it's simple, just left click on the fire mode button to disable "fire at will" mode.
  10. damn a frog beat a frog for the same problem on the same mission
  11. from Caen page : "In Battle for Caen, players control units of the British 11th Armored Division during Operations "Epsom" and "Goodwood" which took place from June 26 to July 19, 1944. Get ready for strong opposition though from the forces of the 2nd, 21st and 1st SS and 12th SS Panzer Divisions and witness even more spectacular battles involving dozens of impeccably modeled AFVs and hundreds of soldiers."
  12. well arty is not a successfull way to remove mines ... got super lucky if you succeed to open a path in a minefield with direct fire or arty tried once just for test in Africa : 3 PZ4D + "bang-boom-boom" = first PZ4D blown out to remove mines with infantry, just use their left foot, walking on a mine with the left foot is Overpowered
  13. this action will be possible in TOW Korea but atm Engineers are just basic infantry, no more.
  14. for sure they do, that is the reason why i'm using intense micromanagement to carry them from battle to battle, frequently specialising some infantry with antitank grenades or so, and sending them to destroy tank one by one. i rarely finish campaigns with more than 100 dead among my troops. the longer they live, the better they are, the better equiped they are
  15. Reach fourth battle : Hill 112 (and i hate the map as i can't find a path to outflank till now), confirming that LOS makes it difficult for the attacker but still no real problem to deal with it, now having 4 excellent snipers that scout ahead the antitank abilities of german infantry and the quality of german tanks in defense (combine to the density of hedgerows) make this campaign a slow one for me, a shot could really come from nowhere and given the power of german PaK and Panzer, it's better not to let that shot be taken. now that i know better this brit units, i put churchills ahead with Achilles in cover while protecting my flanks with mixed sherman units. PS : Please let us play Caen as germans, Thanks
  16. i'm not a fan of defensive campaign (Russian campaign in Kursk is a slaughter) but i would have really enjoyed to play Caen with german units, so many excellent fire positions with crossed fire that it wouldn't have been fair for Brits and Canadians i had to slow my time of play not to finish it too soon (micro management takes time), but damn i'm having fun !!
  17. Hi all, playing TOW for a long time (except Centauro), Caen is actually the most difficult campaign from the attacking point. it's far more harder to find the enemy and rushing is not the good way to have success, a lot of well hidden enemies (even tanks in building !!) ... you have to be more cautious, far more cautious due to the power of german units in defense as most of them are really really well hide. I really prefer Caen to Kursk despite the absence of a german campaign in Caen. real bocage maps would have make it even more Epic.
