  1. Hi all. Moon - I sent you an email referencing your post (#10) on this thread to get a coupon as I am going to purchase AoD. Forgive my necro-ing this thread - I just wanted to pop a quick heads-up here as my email to you was wonky in a couple of ways... First off, I found this thread via Google, not directly searching in the forums. I have no idea why that should make a difference, but for some reason, the Google search result took me to this: http://combatmission.com/community/showthread.php?t=110293 and not to a link that started with Battlefront.com/blahblah, which looks a little odd to begin with. On top of that, my Battlefront.com and forum account are different, not the same as I had originally said. Sorry for all the confusion - if you have any problems with my email, I just wanted to drop a quick line here to make sure you didn't think I was spamming you or something! Thanks Moon.
  2. Yeah, it just happens that way sometimes. I had a game with the Brits having to dump all their tanks into India to keep them safe (!) while they try to rush tank research. It was '43 and I still hadn't managed a breakthrough, whereas with the Russians spending even less, I had made it to level 4 already... Sometimes that's the way you roll the bones! There's also been the games where it's the opposite. I had a game where I was scrambling to keep Moscow safe, and had to let research slide a bit as I shored up my defences, when I noticed the Axis armor starting to really whup on my tanks. I scraped together the cash to put a point into tanks, and got the hit on the same turn. That's what I call made-to-order research!
  3. In my current game (AoE - playing the Allies), I saw something which must be incredibly rare... I was investing heavily in diplomatic chits for Turkey. I had built up Egypt and wiped the Italians as soon as they entered, and was hoping an Allied Turkey at the right time would give me another potential route into Europe. I had maxed out the amount of chits I had with them. And then what happens? POOF! Spain, Sweden AND Turkey all go Axis on the same turn! My jaw hit the floor, some particularly foul words were uttered, and we began preparing for the Germans to invade us through Turkey, instead of the other way around. What are the odds!!
  4. I downloaded the game as well, and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it completed. Top marks.
  5. Ahh, that sounds like a potential solution! At work now, so I'll have to wait until later to try it out, but I think that might do it. Many thanks for the quick replies! I'll share more stories and questions with you all as they come up. Best, Mantis
  6. Addition: July 1941, no rain, adverse weather conditions in areas of origin or destination; units can move anywhere in the world that US has control, cross-seas etc.
  7. Hi all. I've been trolling these forums since I bought this game about a week ago, and I know some of you. It's Mantis, from WHQ/ACG, and hi to all of you, old friends and new! I've been messing around with the game a bit after work, and I am trying the Allies now in the AoE scenario. The US just joined the war, and after reinforcing/upgrading my fighters etc, I find I can't operationally move them to any of the UK areas, ie: Egypt and area, the UK, etc. I seem to only be able to go to the Philippines, which is mine already, so doesn't prove much... I understand not being able to enter Jap territory as they might be non-cooperative allies, but I can't understand not being able to enter UK territory. I *must* be missing something as I am certain that building airframes in the US is not a never-see-action death sentence to the units constructed. Can someone please show me where I'm going wrong here? Many thanks, Mantis (Who has my user name, anyways? )
