  1. Im old fashioned and old Joe , my download speed is pretty good, but I do like the hard copy game manuals, I remember the Falcon 4 Manuals and many others with fondness. Yes the post office rip off/handling fee, cant say that too loud as missis works for Parcelforce, pity it didn't come through them, may have got away with it lol. Oh well you live and learn. Mark
  2. Ordered mine April 1st, never received email at all, but had post office card this morning through letter box to pick up parcel from post office. Customs had nabbed it and I was charged another £15 to get it out of post office. Turned out to be an expensive game (im in UK) Just a query really but seeing as we get the game download to start off with when buying CMFB (download and hard copy), is there any need to put $55 on the air mail packaging? Couldn't you put say $10 on the packaging, the difference in cost between the download only and the download with hard copy? No offence meant, was just wondering that's all Mark
  3. The ones coming into London are probably coming through Royal Mail Depot on Axis Park, Slough (Heathrow Distribution centre) think customs are inhouse too, send your letters of complaint there, failing that you could always burn the place down lol. I know customs are at the end of the line in Parcelforce's International Hub in Coventry and Parcelforce can be fined by customs if they let anything slip through without the greedy goverment getting its chunk. My steelbox must have came a different route because no extra charges, just seems for some reason its the London area thats being shafted.
  4. First time i tried to quit game it also froze on me, can alt-q out of 3d game ok but its when i clicked on the exit button to exit game proper that it froze. Using win 7 64bit and 11.3 (5870), gonna try the 11.5 when i get time to install, only briefly played game for half hour though (damn work) but was pretty exciting half hour, terrain looks great. Nice one Battlefront.
  5. Love the old Combat Mission games, bought the 1.04 versions (think that makes 3 times i have bought all these games, not gonna ever let em go again though). Not played CMBN demo yet, gonna wait till Steelbox drops through letterbox i think. Still playing Dangerous Water at moment (lovely big blinkin manual, reminded me of Falcon 4's, love biggy manuals lol), dont hear much about DW now, did i buy that game from Battlefront or i am imagining it, first game i bought through internet.
  6. ATI Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X, very quiet and runs everything nice apart from Cliffs of Dover (bloody epilepsy filter) Sperry 8086 followed by mmx 200mhz that i oc to 250mhz plus massive 105mb hd, what a killer computer that was. Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix and Lucasarts X-Wing ran good anyway. Editing Config.sys and Autoexec.bat to squeese every last 1k of ram out of comp was so much fun, do i need expanded or extended ram, cd driver or no nocd, how much ram for smartdrv, think 620k was best i ever saw, gonna have a lie down now.
  7. Fair enough Moon, point taken about the installer.
  8. Not having a go about the game Moon, im playing it and very much enjoying it, just seems UAC and the Game dont get on too well, in mine and Nevada's case anyway. Just trying to give mrsoul some help so he can enjoy it too.
  9. Bit odd that you cant get yours running mrsoul, Nevada and me got it running in the end with the admin thing (seems to be a probem somewhere with game or activation program, with win7 anyway) Only other thing i can think of is whether you have an anti-virus or firewall program thats still stopping game running even though you have tried running as admin. I only have the default win7 firewall, i dont use anti-virus progs at all.
  10. Moon i've just turned UAC off and rebooted comp, the game starts normally then, no need to run as admin. So even though i've installed game to C:\Games\Battlefront Dir some files must be being installed to program files or windows dir possibly thats causing the game not to start when UAC is turned on, unless we run it as admin that is. Same goes for the Builder.exe and Config.exe too.
  11. Moon i've just clicked on the Builder.exe and the Options.exe files and they are doing exactly the same thing as well, get the Play or Buy window then asking for activation if you click on Play. Only by running as admin are they both running. By the way UAC is at the default setting (fresh install of windows only few days ago)
  12. You got the game running by "running as admin" too then Nevada? Just read your text properly again Nevada, you have got to see the terrain then before bed
  13. This is a bit odd then mrsoul, i've just tried it for a second time and mine works. If i double click Korea icon then the first window that comes up is that Play or Buy window, if i click on Play then activation screen comes up again. If i right click on the Korea icon and run as administrator then the window that appears is the one with Update and Play buttons, i click on Play button and game starts up. My os is Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Yes Moon my game is in C:\Games\Battlefront dir (right from first install) and what i've written above is whats happening
  14. Just got my game going again, if you double click Korea icon as normal then you get the activation screen come up again, if you right click Korea icon then run as administrator then game runs again, try that guys.
  15. Im having same problem too Moon, only thing is though i did install it into a C:\Games dir as i usually do with all my games (Win7 64). After install i activated game and it ran ok, then i closed game. Then i tried to start it once more and it comes up with activation screen again. Did'nt get any reboot messages during all this though.
