  1. I bought the paradox physical box version of CMSF, and I enjoyed it but I had never played the CMx1 titles at that time. I then realized I had them from an anthology I picked up at Electronics Boutique (remember that chain?!? so long ago) and started playing. I became instantly hooked, and didn't pick CMSF back up until modules started being released. Now I couldn't dream of going back to CMx1 long term, but I will fire up CMAK from time to time to get that early war desert fix.
  2. I will be giving the scottish campaign another try, but on my first go I lost both of the mine flail tanks in the first mission, not knowing i would need them in the second. This is the easy version no less. The first mission wasn't enjoyable for me, being at night with very heavy casualties. I have made it to the 7th mission in the US campaign however, and while a couple of the mission were a bit annoying, overall I am having a good time of it.
  3. I use the ammo carried as a guide. The M24 has a .50 mounted in 3D model but no .50 ammo carried, so is just for show. If ammo is carried there is at least an edge case where the .50 will fire.
  4. @BFCElvis thank you for the update, looking forward to trying the new scenario.
  5. Ok, thank you for the heads up. I didn't think it would, don't know if you don't ask and all that. Am still slogging through mission 4 of the US campaign so the wait won't kill me, lol.
  6. So quick question, can I install this patch over my steam install? I have all my CM games installed through steam for convenience, but they haven't been updated with this patch yet.
  7. I keep forgetting that the M24 may have the boom of a medium tank, certainly not the same ability to take a hit. Also that it's 75mm isn't the same ability as one on a short gun Sherman. I had a couple rounds bounce off a Stug III frontal armor at maybe 200 meters, forgot they are the descendant of the 75mm used in the B-25G/H which was really just a lightweight HE chucker. On Mission 4 now, and I am very amped at the prospect of Pershing vs. Tiger.
  8. I am on the third mission of the American campaign. Enjoying it so far. It's always a question as to what quality troops I am facing. Also the volksturm shooting pzfaust at infantry took me by surprise, and cost me a few lads. I am enjoying it though. Playing the easy version, which i wish was an option for all the campaigns across the series, as it allows me to make it through while not being great at keeping casualties to to a minimum.
  9. I got in early due to pre order, got up early today to keep playing, back to work today unfortunately but this is a great module, well done!!!! And as said above, can finally retire CMBO for good. CMFB has been my favorite since release, as the bulge has the armor battles that maybe Normandy was lacking to a degree. This is just beautiful icing on that cake, thank you again Battlefront!!!
  10. I am fairly sure that AA halftrack is already in FB. I know it's in the Eastern Front series.
  11. I was running a Windows 8 machine and when I picked up a later 10 series Nvidia video card I couldn't install the newest drivers because they weren't compatible with Windows 8. That was the moment that I decided that it was time to become part of the modern age I suppose. I did end up getting another pre-built because I just don't have the time like I used to to tinker with building one from the ground up like I did the one I was using before. It was difficult to get used to Windows 11, and after having the computer for about 2 weeks I had BitLocker bricked my solid state drive because the update from Windows changed so much that BitLocker locked me out of my hard drive and I had no way to get into it. That hard drive is still smoked, I had to go out and buy another SSD which I was planning on doing anyways and reinstall Windows. The One plus side to modern Microsoft software is that the actual serial number if you want to call it that is saved with your account so you have a Windows 11 activation available to you you can install it and be ready to go immediately without any kind of activation. I'm super wary about Windows updates now, I never personally activated BitLocker I guess it's an automatic feature with Windows 11, and I never received the decryption key in any way form or shape. All in all my experience and migrating to Windows 11 has not been an entirely positive one, however I am able to play with modern software and keep all my drivers up to date so there's that. Definitely feels like I was drag kicking and screaming into the modern world though
  12. This is one of the reasons I was so happy to see CM go to Steam. People who might never have found this series are now part of our happy little band of maniacs. I personally found CMSF1 in a brick-and-mortar store back in 2009 I think, as a Paradox release. I am 39 now so I was like 25 or 26 then and I was instantly hooked. Now 14 years later, I am seeing more new blood around here then ever before and it warms my dark little heart.
  13. Somewhere between 07 & 08 I started playing the original CMSF that i bought at an actual store, electronics boutique iirc. It was from that a different publisher then the current setup. If I remember correctly there was a special patch just for that version of the game. I had purchased the cmx1 series but never played it because I didn't know what I had, and i was a lot younger than and have other things to do. But I really started leaning into it when cmbn was released in 2010. Haven't looked back.
  14. So my friends, using the existing search function in the forms I was not able to find anything that was relevant to current combat mission games. Is there a Parker's crossroads scenario or campaign, mini campaign I guess it would be, available for cmfb?
  15. @Erwinthank you so much for that info! This will be on my favorites tab for quick reference. The sheer volume of Soviet types can make it difficult when buying forces for a QB to know what has what capability. For US forces (armor at least) it's very often in the name of the variant. Again many thanks!
  16. Those are the plans for the entirety of 2022, and it was stated that the Black Sea Module does not yet have a public time table attached to it.
  17. Gotta say im pretty pumped for that also. Generally if i have to choose between playing and mod hunting with the time available playing wins every time. I had 10hr days fri-sun but tomorrow I'm off so you all know what I'll be up to lol.
  18. I had purchased most of the other titles on launch with two exceptions; CMFI and CMRT. After the launch of R2V i grabbed the full FI collection. However i waffled of CMRT, eastern front air battles are my happy place but the titanic ground struggle is almost overwhelming. Yesterday was my birthday so i decided it was finally time.....i am installing CMRT plus F&R as i type.
  19. I think i it'll be the battle of germans for the first module. W.Germany vs. E.Germany. BOAR vs. Poland for the second. The Leopard 1 was ubiquitous among smaller NATO armies and getting as much bang for the buck is the way BF has been designing modules for some time now.
  20. Although i have been playing a lot of cmfi lately, cold war is my favorite. Its the era that draws me in, the stakes would be so very high and the drama is compelling. Black Sea is second, followed by fortress italy. All the CM titles are great in their own way, and each had drawn me in at one time or another.
  21. First kill with a Dragon ATGM.....was on a BTR but still a moment I've craved in 3D since Steel Panthers 2. Well done BF.
  22. It took me way longer than it normally would after clicking on the download button for it to actually start downloading. I went outside and had a smoke so I wouldn't be standing there staring at the screen LOL
  23. Quite honestly I haven't been this excited for a CM game since CM battle for Normandy came out many years ago
