  1. Acronyms such as BDG are forever written into my brain since those days.
  2. A correction: The Swedish newspaper only refers to what the Finnish newspaper already published so not two independent sources. What is officially said is that the two governments are to give an answer to whether they will apply for membership at a joint PM meeting in May. The reason for this would be to share the risks of a potential Russian aggression while in an applicant state should they decide to apply. (Many news sources think they will apply, though)
  3. Why you are crazy? I don’t see where Slovenia would fit into your fantasy fiefdom. But then again, who can tell those European countries apart? Slovenia or Slovakia? Sweden or Switzerland? So many and frankly, who cares?
  4. Oh, that’s a scoop, right? So the express.co.uk is a reliable source now? LOL. It’s rather the tabloid of Internet news AFAIK. Sweden did send 5000 AT4s a week or two ago to Ukraine and this week they decided to send 5000 more (putting them on Putin’s “unfriendly” countries list). It’s not exactly breaking news. Regarding jets: So what country/organization would a Swedish fighter jet belong to if not the Swedish Air Force? The Swedish Mad Fighter Jet’s Association? ROFLMAO, but I guess express.co.uk have inside news unbeknownst to the rest of the world. Anyways, a signals intelligence airplane is not really a threat to Putain (French spelling), is it? And it would not be over Belarus but close to the Belarus border if anything. Whatever. Just try to be as sane as possible and don’t refer to tabloid media as some kind of objective truth, will you. Cheers, Greup
  5. This reminds me of the old "Road to Wiltz" original Squad Leader scenario. Always thought that was a great idea.
  6. FWIW: According to Niall Barr's book "Pendulum Of War: Three Battles at El Alamein" it was a common tactic of the DAK to attack out of the setting sun in order to blind enemy AT gunners.
  7. I've also seen it cited - here - and that's why I commented I agree that it would be interesting to know what RoF is coded into the game. Considering Wikipedia's source for the RoF for the PPSh-41 comes from the Soviet manual for the PPSh-41 printed in 1941 ((Russian) Наставление по стрелковому делу. Пистолет-пулемёт обр. 1941 г. [NSD-41. PPSh-41]. Moscow: Voenizdat. 1941. - run it through Google Translate ) I think we authoratively can rule out higher rates. Attaining higher RoFs would probably require a modified gun. The only reference to 1300 I've (now) found is some awestruck fanboy commenting on a YouTube clip (http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=UAJN_8c_RKs) saying "it *appears* to be close to 1300" rpm . Later in the same comment chain he is corrected by another person. Whatever... Let's see some AAR action instead of this trifling over trivia.
  8. I wonder how you came to that conclusion. Different sources assign a ROF of 900 (some 1000) rpm to the PPSh, which gives a sustained ROF of 11 * 1000 = 11000 rpm for a eleven man squad (that is, initially before any firing has taken place, see below). Now, since the max size of magazines were 71 rounds every single soldier in the suqad needed to change mags after some 4.3 seconds of sustained fire @1000rpm. Let's assume grabbing a new mag an replacing it took 3 secs we are up to a theoretical max ROF of 60/(4.3+3)*71=584 rpm. For your eleven man smg equipped squad that sums up to 6419 rpm. According to Wikipedia the 71-round mags were prone to jamming if filled with more than 65 rounds which - if that is correct and used as practice - further reduced the maximum ROF. Still your point is valid even with factual ROFs. How many mags were issued to the average smg soldier? Couldn't find any info on that by searching the net.
  9. +1 (...and for the non-grogs maybe we could have one percentage on screen before hitting "Go" that estimates who will be winning given the map and force selection. Hitting "Go" will show the outcome. That way nobody would have to learn tactics and read up on stats. )
  10. I think the better place for comments in local language about puns regarding a member's nick is in private messages - if at all. Most of us should probably be happy that our native German members doesn't dwelve into shouting out loud in German while making fun of all pseudo-Germanic nicks present among us forum users. Now, what about 5+ feet wide stone church walls and lack of cover?
  11. Since the hard-coded keyboard mappings does not work for non-English (non-US?) mac keyboards I figure I need to buy me an English keyboard while I wait for Battlefront coders to fix the mac keyboard mappings. Where I live, US mac keyboards are not available for purchase but I can get an "International English" Apple keyboard. I guess that this is what people in Great Britain etc might be using so my question to any of you mac users using "International English" keyboards is: Does the keypad commands work as described by the manual on your kbds?
  12. There, there? Ehm.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hear,_hear Oh well... I agree with the general meaning!
  13. A (rather expensive) book: http://www.amazon.com/Normandy-1944-Organization-Organizational-Effectiveness/dp/0921991568/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1305898134&sr=1-1
