  1. Odd, i knew the last time I was playing in the spring that the game was filling my screen. Well hell, what am I doing different now... The game's been on my hard drive, I just launched it and started playing. Nothing's changed... except for the fact that I adjust my resolution for other games I play. Like I said, no matter what resolution I use, the game screen doesnt adjust sizes, just the level of detail changes. Is there something I'm missing?
  2. Any tricks on stretching the game resolution for widescreen? I played this game quite a bit last year, and I swear I had the game rendering across my entire screen.... I have a HP w2408 24" widescreen. I've been messing around changing my computer resolution, then deleting the prefs folder, then restarting the game. No matter what I do the game still renders in the same "box" per say once I launch it. Yes, it's asking me to accept the "new" resolution each time I delete the prefs file and restart the game, the level of detail and size of the units in game changes, but not the edges of the game screen. There's about 2 inches of black on each side of the game, to the edge of my screen. Seems like the game wont stretch past 20" no matter what resolution I enter. Any way to tinker around with my Nvidia settings?
  3. Order of Battle – As of 1943 Regimental Headquarters SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 5 Totenkopf (often incorrectly named "Thule") (Regiment 1 was redesignated Regiment 5 Thule on 22 October 1943, one of several redesignations. I.Battalion II.Battalion III. Battalion SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 6 Theodor Eicke (Formerly Regiment 3 Theodor Eicke) I. Battalion II. Battalion III .Battalion SS Panzer Regiment 3 I. Battalion II. Battalion SS Panzerjäger Battalion 3 SS Sturmgeschütz Battalion 3 SS Motorized Artillery Regiment 3 SS Flak Battalion 3 SS Motorized Signals Battalion 3 SS Motorized Reconnaissance Battalion 3 SS Motorized Pioneer Battalion 3 SS Dina 3 SS Field Hospital 3 SS Combat Reporter Platoon 3 SS Military Police Troop 3 SS Reserve Battalion 3 ""SS Panzergrenadier divisions Leibstandarte, Das Reich and Totenkopf were to be formed with a full regiment of tanks rather than only a battalion. This meant that the SS Panzergrenadier divisions were full-strength Panzer divisions in all but name. They each also received nine Tiger tanks, which were formed into the heavy panzer companies." Here's a start, I'm having trouble finding the EXACT vehicle types at the moment.
  4. Thx for the info. I'm still wondering how a fixed bunker(structure) can "hide". Sure, I understand the guy inside may be pinned, or taking cover, but the bunker(the structure itself) is still there. I had 4 stationary PIIIJ on line trying to take out 2 bunkers, each with a clear LOS up to,and beyond the bunkers. Weather clear, range 600 to 800m, my 4 units were stationary, not taking any fire, no smoke or burning terrain in the immediate area, and the bunkers kept turning into a star randomly every action phase. They'd pop out of hidden status, when the units inside would open fire on my infantry. I'd have to reassign them as targets for the pzs, then the bunkers would disappear again the next action phase when my units landed hits.. They were eventually abandoned, but it seemed a bit of a stretch seeing the bunkers/structures keep dropping out of sight when my units fired on them.
  5. There seem to be so many variables from scenerio to scenerio it seems impossible to be able to nail it down to "XXX" meters in snow, or XXX meters non-snow. I could be mistaken, but it seems the AI "cheats" if you will... quite a bit. Granted, I play on Extreme Fog of War, but it seems AI can hammer away on my guys hiding in rough, rubble, or pines, no matter what their range, thats even when my guys have a squad leader with +1 or +2 stealth. On the flip side I see their tanks "hide" while they're under fire during the action phase... That's when they're still clearly within line of sight(I test this during my next movement phase, and their "star" is clearly within LOS, their tank is apparently "hidden" somehow). I've even seen AI bunkers "hide" while under direct fire. I'm really not sure how a fixed bunker can hide, but they do. Your best bet is to test out your LOS for each type of terrain at the beginning of each different scenerio by using the LOS tool and go from there.
  6. I'm still enjoying my recent rediscovery of CMBB(played it originally when it released)... havent moved on to CMAK or the Shock Force versions yet. I'll second the thought of fictional wars not holding much interest... The whole NATO vs Soviet Pact forces fictional wars has never held much interest for me. Afghanastan does look interesting, but perhaps a bit limited in variety of troop types and equipment(especially for the Afghans and Mujahadeen). As far as new releases, I'd personally really like to see a CM Vietnam. What possibilities and variety of men and equipment that would have. Ability to play the earliest French missions/campaigns, later Americans, SF, SEALs, Viet Cong regulars, VC sappers, VC guerillas, tunnels, claymores, CAS, helicopter Gunships, Helo Troop deployments, River Boats(PBRs, Stabs)... A wide variety of terrain, from heavy jungle to the Mekong Delta, as well as urban combat. Wouldnt have much in the heavy armor department, but it would be an infantryman and river rats dream.
  7. Wow, you learn something new every day.... I had no idea about the mortar team----plt commander mechanic. Been using it like a champ since I read this thread. Don't know how I missed it in the manual.
  8. I'm using Vista, as well as Nvidia.... games running great with zero crashes since I started playing about 3 weeks ago. I did order the disc version.... that included the Vista Install. There is the online vista compatability download.... as mentioned above.
  9. Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to edit lines in the .exe file? Not familiar with what type files CM uses. I've done extensive tinkering with skins in the Total War series, Steel Beasts, ect... Usually using other player generated Modding tools and skins. Seems there's usually a way to edit just about every type of uniform option in most games.
  10. I'm at my wits end here. In a nutshell I want to replace the default "no brim" panzer crew cap with the later war version that has a brim. Looking at the BMP files: 9020: M1934/38/41 Feldmutze(default panzer crew cap, Black, no brim) 9293: M1934 Type Feldmutze(Grau, no brim) 9028: M1943 Einheitsfeldmutze(Fieldgrau, with brim, for Heer or Volksstrum?) 9029: M1943 Einheitsfeldmutze(Black, with brim, for Panzer crews) The obvious solution for me, was to simply make a copy of 9029, rename it 9020, and just overwrite the default no brim 9020. Didnt work. I did the same overwrite with 9293(grey, no brim). I had downloaded a few "crew" mods, so I went through every single BMP file to see if there was some rogue "no brim" BMP file. The skin does not exist. Yes I am runnin a couple of "crew MOds", so the 1943 type does render on occasion. EDIT: Upon closer inspection during gameplay, I think I'm missing a BMP for the brim of the cap. Just need to copy and paste the file. Looking through the BMPs, there's not any single file in the uniform BMPs that sticks out. So... I must need 9029 and ?________? in order to overwrite 9020 and ?_______?. 9028 and ?_______? in order to overwrite the Grau version of 9293 and?_______? ....
  11. Many thanks... clears things up a bit. I hit the jackpot with Daffy's(Dey) winter skins. I must have hit the tipping point when I started downloading his mods after my last post. I just kept downloading enough gelb and grau winter skins until they started appearing. I was thinking it was rather odd.. Panzer crews had white overcoats, infantry had overwhites, my Panzer tracks and we're white, but no whitewash on the armor.... Thanks again.
  12. I've installed probably a couple hundred winter skin mods for almost all the vehicles in game today. Upon extensive testing with multiple scenerios I've set up in the last hour(using the scenerio generator), from 1941 to 1945, I've only had about 4 German winter armor skins render. It's the total opposite with Soviet units, almost every single winter skin for armor, vehicles, infantry, support are rendering. Spent most of the day and half the evening downloading skins, I'm totally deflated right now. Yes, they're CMBB mods, yes, its winter and snowing... The German winter crew uniforms are working, the German winter infantry skins are working. All of the German non winter skins for armor, infantry, vehicles are working just fine. I noticed the Winter Armor skins start showing up in the BMP files starting at 53000 and end in the upper 60000's. Am I missing something? I'm quite familiar with using mods and skins from other games. What the heck am I doing wrong? The few "readme" files that actually have installation instructions say to simply download and drop into the BMP folder, which is exactly what I've done. I saw the discussion above commenting on Gelb/Grau, but don't comprehend exactly what they're saying. I AM running the game on Vista. I used the disc I purchased recently that is Vista compatable. This games pretty old, and downloading and copying files seems extremely simplistic. I've messed around with some other mods that are a bit more difficult to get running in many other games.... All I can say is that I'm at a total loss with winter armor skins right now for CMBB.
  13. I'm having trouble finding ANY German Winter Uniform skins, as well as German Winter Crew. I found a couple Winter Crew mods for Panzers, not much luck for of vehicle crews, and ATG crews. I've looked all over GreenAsJade's CMBB mods, and that other link is dead. Any help would be much appreciated.
  14. Apparently there's not edit function.. Another noob question, i checked in tech support and did a search just FYI. I have a 24 inch wide screen. The gameplay resolution is great, but the splash screen once the game loads is pretty small, is it suppose to be that small?
  15. Many thanks. I already have a few installed, and they're looking great. Seem to have a problem with getting winter mods/whitewash working. All the "normal" skins I've installed, ask to overwrite existing files, which makes sense. I install these, they overwrite the vanilla files, and show up in game when I go to test the skin. When I install the winter mods, they're not overwriting anything, and they dont show up in game. Is there another special folder I need to create for winter BMP mods? I'm POSITIVE i'm loading the proper vehicle, with the proper dates for the scenerio I create(ie 1943 late models... ect)
  16. I'm familiar with using Mods and add ons from many other games. I can download and unzip the files, just not sure where to place them. I'm mostly interested in unit skins right now, and will be looking to player generated Scenerios and Campaigns after I wear out the vanilla sce's and campaigns. I searched though the CMBB folders, and didnt see any "Mods" folder. I found a few skins in the BMP folder, but it doesnt seem like there are enough skins in there to cover every single vanilla unit. BTW I did a search before posting, I checked GreenAsJade's CM Mod Warehouse, and I have looked at a few "readme files" from a few skins I've downloaded, have yet to find a "how to" for using Mods in CMBB. Cheers.
