  1. Due to my own stupidity I forgot to backup my CMSF Marine campaign save game before I reformatted. The mission I was on was where USMC and Cav clear a chemical complex next to a highway. I would appreciate it if somebody had a save game up to this point and could upload it. My gaming time is limited so it would take a while to go through the campaign again.
  2. This documentary by the BBC might help you by providing some background to the British campaign in Afghanistan:
  3. Gentlemen The Overlay Maker website seems to have disappeared and has taken the download with it. I have the tool on my HD and can put it on my Dropbox for anybody if they want it. Just let me know.
  4. Overlay Maker is the only other one I know of. http://www.theoverlaymaker.com/ I'm sure I saw something similar for the iPad but I can't remember at the moment.
  5. Not at all sure if this is possible (probably not) under the agreements but here goes. Would it be possible to have this available on print on demand sites? Something similar like this book was done for another game I play and the author sent it to a site, can't remember the name, where you ordered it, the company printed it off, bound it and then sent it to you from whatever location was closest to you which brought down shipping costs. Thought it would be worth asking!
  6. It's also available on DVD and on Youtube.
  7. 23 years old here and it was my interest in military history that got me into these games. The first wargame I played, although I wasn't aware of it, was CC2 in 1998 or 1999. It wasn't the full game but the demo that came with Flight Simulator 98. Played the hell out of it. After that I didn't play any wargames or sims, except FS, until 2001 when a mate introduced me to the Operation Flashpoint demo. I was blown away by the realism it had compared to most other military shooters and I never looked back. Sill playing that series with Arma 2 and ACE mod. 2006 was the year I got back into wargames when I bought some old CC titles. Then 2007 came along with CMSF which I happened to come across by accident. Own every single CMx2 title for PC. So now I mostly split my time between Arma 2, CMx2 and the odd wargame or flight sim.
  8. I don't quite get the point being made? I read the first page but most people came out in support of BF.
  9. Generally speaking it's probably a good idea to wait for texture mods and the like to be updated for 2.0? What about mods like Makin Atoll and the IJA?
  10. I purchased the upgrade almost straight away since I love what you guys are doing with CM but the opening post still left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Was the attitude really necessary? I deal with customers face to face on a daily basis so I know how frustrating it can get, believe me, but I wouldn't get away with it. The core fanbase may be cool about it but it could put off potential customers and newcomers from joining the community. Anyways, thanks for the continual effort you put in with CM. Merry Christmas and the best of luck to you guys for the future!
  11. I just had this error. I finished the 'Night Stalkers' mission in the CMSF campaign and just as the next scenario is loading I get the 'Out of Memory' error. I'm playing RT. System: - Win 7 64-bit - 6GB RAM - ATI 4870 512MB - Core i7 920 I noticed a lot of people get this error after completing 'Night Stalkers'. Has the issue been narrowed down to this specific scenario? I recently re-installed but before that I had CMSF installed into Program Files instead of the default C:\Combat Mission Shock Force and didn't encounter any 'Out of Memory' error (though I did not get to 'Night Stalkers'). I don't understand programming and the like so it probably has nothing to do with it but I just thought I'd throw that possibility out there.
  12. Great, thanks. I'll probably just grab the modules once NATO is released.
  13. Thank you both for your help. I have contacted Paradox so I hope I hear from them. If I don't get a reply I'll purchase the modules so they can convert my CMSF and I can play them. I just hope the issue with CMSF won't affect the module install when/if I come around to it.
  14. It says here though that Paradox has dropped support. http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1530&Itemid=80 Perhaps that has something to do with? It would explain why I was able to play in Dec 09 but not now. Their forums for CMSF appear to be dead too but it sure won't hurt to make a post there. Does anybody else know the copy protection for retail Paradox published CMSF? I did some searching on Safe Disc but there is very little information. They don't appear to have a website. It was made by Macrovision, which is now rovi, but a search on their site turned up an irrelevant page in Japanese. Sounds like they ceased support for it.
