  2. Lanzfeld,so glad you posted cause we have had identical experiences. have always loved this first mission as a practice tool and played it many times. Over the last couple of evenings i have been very roughhly handled indeed and i assume its down to 2.01 and am becoming a little oobsessed with it.( the mission that is ) I agree smoke is ineffective even with perfect fire plan knowledge. I think you just have to be patient and win the fire fight. Before you could always get your zooks in range of those two bunkers very quickly if required but advancing from the creekbed is now problematic.
  3. lost long before the assault. the approach march was a debacle. units never found their start lines etc etc and the attack went in peacemeal. chesty and the boys were more than up to it.
  4. iwo-jima make a great stand alone campaign game on the cm engine. obviously it would have its issues but the day to day meatgrinder would be compelling game play. plus state of the art marine technique would mean a whole new tactical suite and of course put up with big casualties. id pay big bucks for that game.
  5. yep . just started playing g.mcewans latest offering using euroscape. great stuff as always george - master mapmaker.
  6. would think so but dont really know. be careful with modding cause once you start you never stop. look man , just buy it , you know you want to ( as they say)
  7. it really is ckalk and cheeze nz if your comparing the demo maps against what is outhere.some of these guys have been doing this for a while now and are getting really good at it. mix in a few mods..............happy days i reckon.
  8. i wonder if some of you guys are getting the best stuff. some of the recent maps uploaded to the repository are outstanding. complex,detailed and utterly immersive , to me at least.
  9. having a wee drama , loaded up a qb , allied attack , medium, 90 minutes. im playing defense. attacking force is deployed but takes no action, tried several loads always the same. , opfor remains camped in setup zone, clues anyone?
  10. thanks so much for this tremendous piece of work. the map work of some of you guys is taking this already iconic game to new levels. just wondering what qb parameters you would suggest for the type of engagement you were intending. again,kudos.
  11. hey phil , im on mission 5 i think , the one where you have to cut the road into troina? bout an hour into it and have almost cleared the the first ridge . got engineers moving along the rd around the ridge, shermans ready to roll. long way to go . great scenario . constant artie fire covering my very slowly moving infantry in a horseshoe up the ridge. for what its worth . effective use of your artie assets is the absolute key to all these scenarios. by the way , hi everyone.
