Troops not staying behind walls
Jaeger Jonzo replied to LukeFF's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Sorry your wrong on this fate hunter, i agree with Luke and Fizou, it never used to happen. I've had many battles where the full squad always approached a wall or hedge and lined themselves correctly along it. It's quite noticeably different since the last updates. -
Troops not staying behind walls
Jaeger Jonzo replied to LukeFF's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Noticed the same problem as OP, with squads straddling walls, in my recent MG pbem fight at Nigmegen and suffered casualties because of it. Am fully patched up and all modules installed. Seen it in a Cmfi battle too since last update. -
Ah, no problem GaJ, I had thought the auto-update was keeping me up to scratch with releases. Im glad you posted the link to a much newer version! Installed that and it seems to be running okay but I did get a lot of text in the comments box scrolling over and over and mention of file queing. I manually cleaned out some out of date files from the dropbox folders and it seemed to solve it. Thought auto-tidy did that normally but may be associated with the probs I was having with 2.4.4 Thanks anyway, this is a great useful bit of software and yes, BFC should link you into the CM series!

ive had problems with h2h last couple of days. It keeps not uploading correct files and then also stops working altogether. I deleted the appdata file and it restarted fine but then loses track of the turn orders. Its now stopped working again but I just noticed theres a newer version available, mine says its 2.4.4. Will upload the new one and see how I get on. ps I had the auto-update feature ticked so how come the software stayed out of date?

Map/terrain looks very realistic, great job! Look forward to fighting it out in Tilly.

Looks great and a real challenge, thanks for all your hard work so far -
Hunt for vehicles too fast?
Jaeger Jonzo replied to rocketman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I also think the hunt command is too fast. Use it for a recon vehicle and it just looks way too hasty to hunt forwards. Afvs blunder into incidents too easily. -
Great Xmas news, can't wait for a cmx2 Ost Front. BFC are doing a cracking job with this series.

Tank Self-Preservation Instincts?
Jaeger Jonzo replied to Tux's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Asked this same question against my pbem opponent just recently. In cm1 Sherman's used to have a sense of self preservation against a Tiger, deploying smoke and/or withdrawing into cover whereas now they appear fearless and try and duke it out with them! Needless to say they rapidly succumb to a fiery end. So have pixel tankers had their fear glands removed? -
Thank you very much Thomm, I found it on YouTube and thoroughly enjoyed watching it again after all these years. A powerful stirring story.

do any of you grogs know the name of the movie made to commemorate the paras/ re-enact the battle at Arnhem? I used to have it on vhs but lost it over time and house moves. They used real Panthers and other German AFV's and I think filmed over the real terrain/urban area of Arnhem. It was pretty good from what I remember, showing Paras assaulting buildings, dodging the panzers etc and I would like to see it again.

Any other releases planned for CMBN?
Jaeger Jonzo replied to Doug Williams's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Isn't there going to be a west front winter module? Bulge, Huertgen, Rhine crossings etc? There's something great about fighting out winter or snow battles when it's deep winter outside too. Adds to the mood -
CMFI Patch 1.12 won't download
Jaeger Jonzo replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
I disabled part of Avast and it appears to be downloading okay now...fingers crossed! -
CMFI Patch 1.12 won't download
Jaeger Jonzo replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Anyone know if they have corrected the exe download? Didn't want to download another 300mb and get same problem. There was a thread under tech support about this which seems to have disappeared ??? Never had a problem with BFc patches before and I own all the modules. Odd one. -
CMFI Patch 1.12 won't download
Jaeger Jonzo replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
another avast user here. As soon as the file starts to download Avast moves it to quarantine. Even when I try to restore or extract it from the virus chest it red alerts the exe file and wont let it run. Any help appreciated. -
What did patch 2.12 do?
Jaeger Jonzo replied to AttorneyAtWar's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
another avast user here, I cannot run the 2.12exe file. As soon as it starts to download Avast moves it to quarantine. Even when I restore it from Avasts 'virus chest' it then hits the red alert all over again and prevents the exe running. Any help appreciated. -
Mini-Campaign: Welcome to Sicily
Jaeger Jonzo replied to Mr.X's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
So are campaigns only playable as single player with cmx2 ? Didn't know that. -

Sounds good, thanks, is it H2h as well? -
large bridge pathfinding
Jaeger Jonzo replied to folkie's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I can send in a save game on the cmfi scenario if that helps. I've still got a unit laying at the bridge end trying to exit! He can't go back across full span without getting cut down. Who should I send too at BFC? I have now tried picking every adjacent exit hex to the bridge end but every time the infantry unit about faces and tries to recross the bridge span. -
how is hand-to-hand combat modeled?
Jaeger Jonzo replied to BDW's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
I haven't seen nor heard anything in any close up fight to signify hand to hand fighting going on. Closest I've seen is a guy popping off his Webley at immediate close range! -
