I don't remember seeing a BFC forum with so many crazy-like threads. What is up with that.
Yeah, something certainly feels like it's changed around here recently. Having said that, it's still a damn site better forum than most of the others out there.

Not so rare as you might think.
Lol, Maybe! I hope so anyway.
My number one desire for a graphics overhaul in CM right now would be for urban graphics. But that is more than just textures. I'd love more varieties of buildings, urban flavour objects, chain fences. At the moment we can get some really beautiful rural maps but most towns and cities still look lifeless and boxy.

I think I might be a bit of a rarity amongst sim/strat game players in that I really do like to see good graphics. While I think they are certainly more important in sims where they should provide a level of immersion that goes hand in glove with the technical simulation of systems etc I still think they have a major place in games like this.
Although there are a lot of things from my personal wish list I would love to see added to Combat Mission, I have to say I do really like the graphics. As much as I would love to see more variety ( and this is as much about the availability of terrain features and doodads as how they look), there have been more times than I can remember when I've been caught by just how atmospheric the current engine - as dated as it is - manages to be.
Would I like better graphics at the expense of features? Well probably not, but it would depend on what the feature was and what the graphical improvements were going to be. At the moment I think BFC have struck a good balance between looks and brains and I hope future games make this balance even better.

I have it too. Win 64, I7 920, ATI 7979. Like I said in the thread in tech support, I also have this in the scen editor on a map I've been working on.
Question: Do all the maps that are affected use the Ditch Lock function? I'm sure it's nothing, but I notice this quick battle map uses is, as does my map. My other maps that don't use it don't have any problem.

Wow, very, very nice.

That one is alot better, thanks alot for sharing. Now I can replay arma 2 in black sea.
Heh! You know what? That's quite a fun sounding idea. I always wanted to play big battles on that Chernarus (was that the name?) map.

Can't start the download. After "CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD" the page keeps loading and loading and loading
Yeah, me too. I think I'll wait until I get home from work tomorrow to DL.

Bottom road looks like an average road in the Highlands - or the A9, minus speed cameras!
I'd like to see anyone getting up enough speed on that road for the cameras to be a issue!
The bottom two both look like every road in the west end here in Glasgow.

This is a hard question!
I am also counting the days until they upgrade CMSF. That probably has me most excited, at the moment.
Mord.
This. I love all the WW2 titles so far, but SF was special in a completely different way. I would go right back to it now, but I think I've been spoiled too much by all the new tricks in the newer titles.
That and North Africa regardless of whether it's a module for FI or a new family.

So how big is the download version likely to be for Mac? Deciding if I should go download or CD.
Don't know about the mac, but the PC installer was 26 meg.
-
I got v2.20 on BN and v1.20 on FI. I guess that's normal.
As it should be according to Moon.
No, I haven't tried the new cameras yet. Thinking about trying to made a couple of JuJu's Dutch cobblestone textures Tag compliant.
-
Installed already.
Still showing as v2.20 on the front screen but everything seems to be there in the editor.
I wonder if we can port over the rubble textures from RT?
-
Today I think.
Oh look at that. I win...
-
P
Excellent stuff. Exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!

Did anyone ever do a list of what each of the flavour objects was? I remember seeing one way back for Shock Force but not now we could actually use one. There are so many - and they're getting better all the time.
While we're on the subject, does anyone know which number the Well object is?
-
Wow! Very different from what we've had before. Can see a lot of uses for this. Thanks!

I expect each individual chicken to be modeled in full physical detail and with realistic AI.
When under fire, each chicken should make its own decision about whether or not to cross the road.
Yes, but if they cross to the other side, won't the Gestapo shoot them as partisan?
-
I was just thinking about this. There will probably be an uprising if we don't get the dead cows doodad, considering how often its been requested for Normandy over the years...
Personally, I'd love to get the chicken coops into CMBN. Even more than that, though, I cannot wait for the tagging system and the new rubble tile.
-
I'm loving the Qbs. They are an element of the game I haven't played very much since CM1 but they are beginning to come into their own.
-
The lighting doesn't show off your buildings Kieme, but they are nice.
More fun in the ruins, slightly different

Yeah, the buildings are great. The tagged rubble tiles also make a massive difference to urban maps. Massive difference.
-
Excellent. What I was looking for. Thanks.
-
Thanks for the suggestion, but which kind of grey should I use?
Lets, I thought about that, did some experiments with the stick fence, and also with the standard stone/brick walls. Nothing to do, seems to me a new model is required.
I agree that a low metal railing, maybe with some stone/brick at the bottom, would perfectly fit the urban environment, but unfortunately that's too extreme to mod, a new model and some coding would be needed (transparency, LOS interaction etc.). Let's hope BFC adds this as maybe a fourth wall type or a new fence kind in next modules.
Ah well. Thanks for looking. I think something like this will be important as the series goes on.
-
Beautiful. Looking forward to trying them out.
Here's a question, would it be possible to reskin one of the wooden fences - perhaps using the tag system - to make it look like low metal railings? I know it would still be a wooden fence in reality but it might look quite nice on an urban map.

Scrub my question. Like a massive div I've just found the 3.0 upgrade manual. I've been looking through the wrong manual for the last three days... I'll have a look there instead.
Upgrade License Question

Yeah, I'm curious about this too. I have all the expansions but I had the paradox version of the base game. Problem is I have no idea where the box or the manual are now, and I assume the keycode was printed on one of them. I didn't even know about this $1 patch until a few days back. Suspect it might be fun few months for Battlefront! :)
