  3. All right, all right, here I am ! Yes, they are part of the Army. Actually, the Troupes de Marine have the same TO&E than the rest of the French Army. The distinction is more a matter of tradition, and a training that involves amphibious operations. The French Infantry Platoon is currently organized as followed : 1 Command Element : Platoon Leader, 2IC and RTO. 3 Squads : 8 men squad, with 2 three-men teams and 1 sharpshooter. 1 AT squad : 5 men squad with 2 ERYX ATGMs. 4 Vehicles : VBCI or VAB, 2 crewmen each.
  4. I can already see a campaign with a "hunt-the-shilka-or-you-get-no-helo-support-on-next-mission" episode... ^^ Paper Tiger, does that inspire you ?
  5. You cannot imagine the havoc you created in the French CMSF community !!!
  6. I suppose you mean the pic on the right? It sure does look like the real thing, but the other pics look like screens of an "Alpha" version. Maybe they just did the model but ran out of time to fully implement it before the release? http://www.armchairempire.com/Reviews/PC%20Games/combat-mission-shock-force.htm
  7. These two awesome campaings from Paper Tiger! Both takes place during a fictive putsch in Syria Base game : The Road to Dinas - Red VS Red : pustchist POV. Hasrabit - Red VS Red : Loyalists, Guards ans SF POV.
  8. I thought military vehicles don't require a key to function?
  9. Will the German-made "Livarot trip-mine M44" be available for German pioneers?
  10. And could you tell us what are these two "significant things" please? I'm just curious .
  11. Haven't tested the mortars yet, but the delay to call BM-21 MRL was 19 minutes in 1.20, it is now only 12 minutes... Looks like the Syrian FOs have stopped trying to get a clearance from Al-Assad on the radio every time they need to fire ! Plus the ability for Syrian officers to call for battalion-level arty...
  12. From my experience, artillery for the Syrians works just fine
  13. I just tried to continue a game in v1.21. It worked fine, until I realized that BLUEFOR units weren't able to call for their artillery anymore . The arty panel displays "Access denied" to the mortars for every unit. Does anyone else have this problem? I understand that retro-compatibility isn't an exact science, so maybe there is a few glitches...
  14. At first, I thought this whole thread was a joke >.<
  15. Yes she does have an RPG. The "inventory" window shows an RPG and some rockets. Apparently, your RPG carrier switched to his sidearm (Makarov pistol, but it will appear like an AK in the game ). It is not clear in your screenshot, but how close is your team from the enemy?
  16. snake_eye, lets stick to the subject please The French Army has some very interesting pieces of kit for wargamers, like the brand new VBCI (think of a very heavy Stryker with a 25mm gun). I hope CMSF 2 will includes some new armies (meaning some more than in CMSF) : like the Italians, or the Spaniards... Not the kind of equipment you see often in modern tactical games!
  17. Thanks for these answers. The FM 100-60 I have states that the dismounted element has only 6 men, with a platoon HQ of 4 men (PL, First Sergeant, Medic, Sniper). Information I can find is sometimes contradictory, but does someone know a website about the russian military?
  18. Syrian mechanized squads are probably close to their soviet/russian counterparts, but I am looking for documents dealing with the present composition of the Russian squads and platoons (Mechanized units). The only viable document I have is the FM 100-60 which is certainly reliable, but not really up-to-date. I know that BFC is not the place intended, but still if someone can provide me with a link to a website or a FM dealing with this topic, it would be great
  19. Just began it yesterday... First mission against frightened reservists is still very fun But in the "Hit and Run" mission, my ATGMs and BMPs had a strange behaviour. They kept missing their targets. I must have launched 20 missiles, only 4 of which hit their target... I remember in 1.11, I slaughtered 2/3 of the enemy tanks, with a hit rate of 80%. Did someone else experienced this problem?
  20. It is not the floating icons, if that is your question (that's what I thought first too). Those icons are in the "speciality" box next to the weapon display in the UI. Previously, CO and XO were represented with text, now it's with the stars.
  21. Just played the demo scenario "Going to town (USMC)" and I noticed that syrian airborne squads aren't equipped with NV goggles, except for the command team... Is it normal, that they have only a few pairs of goggles per platoon?
  22. Soviet doctrine states that the vehicle commander is the squad leader. As a result, when Syrian squads dismounts, you can see the squad leader dismount from the vehicle commander's hatch.
  23. I've got a "2001 : Space Odyssey" feeling with this one
