  1. An Englishman at War The Wartime Diaries of Stanley Christopherson a man who started the war as a 2nd Lt but a few days after D-Day took over an armoured regiment. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00IA4C7XQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477349454&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=an+englishman+at+war By Tank into Normandy by Stuart Hills a troop commander from Normandy to the end of the war. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0304366404/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1477349500&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=stuart+hills&dpPl=1&dpID=51h-qVw2nWL&ref=plSrch The Tank War by Mark Urban the history of one armoured regiment through the war. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/034900014X/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477349544&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=the+tank+war&dpPl=1&dpID=51dd0UJfzPL&ref=plSrch With the Jocks Peter White a platoon commander from Oct 1944 to the end of the war. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0750930578/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477349608&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=peter+white+with+the+jocks&dpPl=1&dpID=51fW0mTqolL&ref=plSrch
  2. I found Italy's Sorrow by James Holland very good. It gave a good overview of the last year of the war in Italy. Monte Cassino by Matthew Parker is a good indepth read concerning the battle. One final book to recommend is Whickers War, it is about Alan Whicker (he was facous in the 60's and 70's in the UK for travel documentaries) and his service in Italy with the Army Film and Photo Unit. There was also a good 2 part channel 4 TV series as well.
  3. I would recommend Hills By Tank into Normandy ....http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tank-Normandy-Cassell-Military-Paperbacks/dp/0304366404/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329650702&sr=8-1 Another tank book is Leaky Luck covers more than Normandy but was a Churchill Regimental CO in Normandy http://www.amazon.co.uk/Leakeys-Luck-Tank-Commander-Lives/dp/0750931957/ref=pd_sim_b_32 18 Platoon by Sydney Jary covers a Platoon Commanders war very good but now very expensive and rare http://www.amazon.co.uk/18-Platoon-Sydney-Jary/dp/1901655016/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329650894&sr=1-1 Also Patrick Delaforce has done a number of good Divisional histories from D-Day onwards. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tank-Normandy-Cassell-Military-Paperbacks/dp/0304366404/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329650702&sr=8-1 One of the best books I have read is called With the Jocks but it covers from Nov 44 onwards ....http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tank-Normandy-Cassell-Military-Paperbacks/dp/0304366404/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329650702&sr=8-1
  4. Just got home to find my random note £8 handling charge you ripping off b******s! Royal mail that is!
  5. No sign had the email on the 18/05, but nothing yet
  6. Must admit I'm very impressed with the game. Graphics and detail look good AI seems to be about right. Well done. Just hope the game is even better!
  7. You could read Michael Reynolds book about the SS Panzer Corp in Normandy goes into a lot of detail Steel Inferno: I Panzer Corps in Normandy. Anthony Beevors book is the best I have read on Normandy and does give you a picture of the combat as well as the overall picture. Or look on WW2Talk.com it's a site mainly about British Armed forces but has Battalion combat diaries and AARs.
  8. Looks great pre-ordered and can't wait.
  9. Attack State Red by Richard Kemp is a great book about 1 Royal Anglian in Helmand in 2007. Also Operation Snakebite by Stephen Grey about the retaking of Musa Quala in 2007 and 3 Commando Brigade by Ewen Southby-Tailyour about the brigade in 2006/2007. Dusty Warroirs by Richard Holmes in about 1PWRR in Iraq in 2004.
  10. Troop Leader by Bill Bellamy - British Troop Commander from Normandy to the end of the war Patrick Delaforce has done a series of several books on British Divisions in WW2 try Monty's Ironside about 3 UK Inf Division landed on D-Day and fought to Bremen. Tank Men by Robert Kershaw covers the whole war but a good read. Osprey have many books that cover the Normandy including 4 part series on D-Day, books on Cobra, Caen, Falaise, one that cover the Sherman Firefly vs Tiger 1 and several books that cover aspects of the campaign. After the Battle have a Two Part book about D-Day and a seperate book about Panzers in Normandy both are very good. But if you are starting off Beevors D-Day is excellent and gives a good and fair overview of the campaign.
  11. 1 Rifles has never been part of the SFSG its part of 3 Commando Brigade and is currently deployed with Brigade on Herrick 9 in Afghanistan as mainly OMLT's. http://www.army.mod.uk/infantry/regiments/3469.aspx
