  1. I was able to reinstall without any issue. I had all the files already downloaded, so I just ran those one after the other (I don't mind clicking 'next'). IT seems that *something* was left behind in the OS, because the only thing that I re-activated was the 3.0 upgrade. I never had to reactivate CM, MG or the vehicle pack, but all of them are showing up as active and I have been able to launch missions from the various modules. The only thing I can think of as to why it failed would be the fact that I had it installed on weird drive (F:\) Can't think of anything else. Reinstalling was a pretty painless fi though... the people who can't get the game running seem like they are up a different creek.
  2. I went from Windows 7 pro to Windows 10 pro with the OS and game on different drives and it broke the game. I seem to be an exception though, as most people didn't have any issues. Then again, maybe I had issues BECAUSE it was on different drives?
  3. Yes... I'm relatively certain at least, Everything up to and including the vehicle pack and as I recall one patch after that (or was the vehicle pack 3.11?)
  4. My upgrade to Windows 10 Pro ate my CMBN. The shortcuts and whatnot were all there, as were the files but all of their icons and graphics were gone (like, the customized BF ones.) When I tried to launch them, I got an error that the application was not compatible with Windows 10 and that I should contact the manufacturer. I checked out the registry and any reference to the game or battlefront was gone. I'm going to try to reinstall, but I'm pretty sure I am out of activations.
  5. I come bearing ill tidings. Woe unto thee who harken unto... me. I ran the update last night. The *only* thing that didn't survive was my CMBN. All of the icons were deleted, and when I tried to launch the executable it actually popped up a message saying that it was unusable on Windows 10 Pro and that I should contact the manufacturer. I did a bit of troubleshooting and it looks like every hint of Battlefront has been wiped from my registry. I haven't tried to reinstall yet... I came here looking for the long ass post about the proper order to reinstall everything. I'll let y'all know how that turns out.
  6. When the enemy guys die, I want a lil' pit to open up underneath them and then demons come up and drag them down. When my guys die, angels should ride beams of sunlight to their side, and them carry them back into the heaven while Gary Moore plays 'Parisienne Walkways'. Please and thank you.
  7. In re-reading my post, I did mistakenly give the impression that the gunner was laying on heavy fire. It wasn't like that. He was pretty shaken up and was the last man in his unit. He popped up and fired on them 3-4 times. If we take the first 2 volleys as bracketing, he hit 50% of his aimed shots which isn't totally suck. Just mostly.
  8. I was playing one of the Commonwealth battles. Small unit action cleaning a cluster of farm buildings from a start line. This was 3/4 of the way through the mission, and I went to move a section of 11 men across a road into a building that had already been cleared and was being held by an assault team. The road in question was single lane, about 4-5 meters from the building entrance. When the first men in the section were about halfway across the road, the lone remaining member of a German FOO team opened fire from around 30 meters away with an SMG. Slowly but surely my men went single file through the door, all the while under fire from buddy with the SMG. Just as the last soldier is stepping into the door, a bullet catches him and he drops to the ground, wounded. Immediately the entire section, inside the building and safe from fire, panics and begins to run back out the door into fire. Across the next turn, they continue their flight until they were right back at their starting position. And they left buddy lying there bleeding out. Like, seriously. Argh. A feature of the AI that I would like to see in a situatiobn like this: A panic causes the unit to split. After the split, one part of the unit would engage in whatever activities their panicked state encourages them to (including but not limited to leaving cover to run back to their start line) while the rest of the unit would remain under control... maybe not carrying out their previous orders but at least retaining a certain degree of cohesion.
  9. I have to go an play sick for the boss now.
  10. Windows 8 is Vista and ME combined, with a side order of demonic possession. It suffers from the Microsoft curse... every second version is terrible. They try to change too much and leave a bunch of stuff broken. It most likely will not be terribly useable until at least the first service pack, if not the second.
  11. Ubique Rudyard Kipling There is a word you often see, pronounce it as you may – “You bike,” “you bykwee,” “ubbikwee” – alludin’ to R. A. It serves ‘Orse, Field, an’ Garrison as motto for a crest; An’ when you’ve found out all it means I’ll tell you ‘alf the rest. Ubique means the long-range Krupp be’ind the long-range ‘ill – Ubique means you’ll pick it up an’, while you do, stand still. Ubique means you’ve caught the flash an’ timed it by the sound. Ubique means five gunners’ ‘ash before you’ve loosed a round. Ubique means Blue Fuse, an’ make the ‘ole to sink the trail. Ubique means stand up an’ take the Mauser’s ‘alf-mile ‘ail. Ubique means the crazy team not God nor man can ‘old. Ubique means that ‘orse’s scream which turns your innards cold! Ubique means “Bank, ‘Olborn, Bank – a penny all the way” – The soothin’, jingle-bump-an’-clank from day to peaceful day. Ubique means “They’ve caught De Wet, an’ now we shan’t be long.” Ubique means “I much regret, the beggar’s goin’ strong!” Ubique means the tearin’ drift where, breach-block jammed with mud, The khaki muzzles duck an’ lift across the khaki flood. Ubique means the dancing plain that changes rocks to Boers. Ubique means mirage again an’ shellin’ all outdoors. Ubique means “Entrain at once for Grootdefeatfontein.” Ubique means “Of-load your guns” – at midnight in the rain! Ubique means “More mounted men. Return all guns to store.” Ubique means the R.A.M.R. Infantillery Corps. Ubique means that warnin’ grunt the perished linesman knows, When o’er ‘is strung an’ sufferin’ front the shrapnel sprays ‘is foes; An’ as their firin’ dies away the ‘usky whisper runs From lips that ‘aven’t drunk all day: “The Guns! Thank Gawd, the Guns!” Extreme, depressed, point-blank or short, end-first or any’ow, From Colesberg Kop to Quagga’s Poort – from Ninety-Nine till now – By what I’ve ‘eard the others tell an’ I in spots ‘ave seen, There’s nothin’ this side ‘Eaven or ‘Ell Ubique doesn’t mean!
  12. The title of that page is misleading. Although I guess 'TheTwoMostPopularoftheNineWorldWars.com' is a bit much to type.
  13. The only reason I am anxious for the patch is because I know that the longer it is worked on, the longer it will be before the Commonwealth module is ready.
