  1. As for a CM Normandy, who really needs another game ? ;)

Just got Marines Module "locked, loaded and launched." A modular success and jollification jolt increase. Up way too late playing RT with ... come to think of it, "explosive pineapples" would be a nice feature in MM!:)

"Implementing a sorting system would be huge leap forward." Ugh. 3 Cheers!:D

Sorry, inactive for more than thirty seconds so into my tea brewing animation.

  2. "WeGoers want more structure, RealTimers want more chaos."

Can't we have our chaostructured and enjoy it too?

"the game mechanics are 99% identical for each style of play"

    We Have a BINGO!

But as a closet WEGO who is infatuated with a new RT lover can't you fix my 'entertainment itch' for my RT replay with a chaotic replay?

I just ordered Marines so you all understand:D

  3. The 177.79 drivers with INF & Plain Jane 1.10 solved the problems for the MacBook Pro (laptop).

I recently loaded Armor Attack, the HUGE georgemc scenario that would CTD pre updates and it worked on my laptop! Slow as the map is 2x@3 KM with lots of stuff but it works ... with all in game settings maximum!

Ordered the Marines Module this week.

    Another Happy BFC customer:D

  4. 'Antialias / Multisample: ON' solution for the MacBook Pro

Solution = ForceWare X 177.79 drivers with INF for the MacBook Pro.

Set 'Antialias / Multisample: ON' and for several hours over two days while testing QBs and some Scenarios / Campaigns. in regards to the "CMSF 1.10 QBs - Not improved very much?" thread.

All in game settings maximum! The game looks great! This is a major improvement in how the game looks. I think the FPS may have improved a tiny bit a well. FPS are not stellar but as long as the scenario is not too big the v1.10 patch seems with the new drivers work.

MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz

System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.5

    Apple BootCamp V2.1

    CMSF V1.10

GeForce 8600M GT is in single display mode driving an external: Apple 23" Cinema Display 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hertz

    Thanks BFC:D:D:D

  5. A quick visit to CMMODS and now my personal QB Map file contains 290 maps. :D So my QB generator can now generously generate speedy struggles. Tested for 3 hours late Pm and no problems! QBs in CMSF with the v1.10 standalone patch ("Plain Jane") work fine on my Mac Book Pro.:D

Thanks BFC for the game fix. Looking for to the Marines hard goods to be available soon. Thanks again Mark & All for the advice / suggestions.

  6. Thanks Mark & all.

The CTDs were send error report warning screens as I recall.

I think you are correct re: tiny-small, etc. being the # of units... at least it appears that way because I ended up on the same maps with more stuff.

Tried QBs with "Marine" Maps" only in the folder. Settings went from Tiny to Huge.

All worked (no Blue / Red swaps) but the range of maps selected was limited = QBs on only 2 different maps.

Yes, sometimes AI units are facing the wrong way.

The 'save' file for Large (15MB) was grayed out in the Saved Games folder.

Editor allowed me to open a few Marines maps (limited time so I only tried 3) but some Maps said Marines Module was required.

"A final thought My personal QB Map file contains 243 maps. So the QB generator has lots to choose from."

Sounds like a winner to me. I do have the "QBG Large Maps" sitting on the sidelines. Game time I guess?

    Thanks again.

    Important note:

I was able to install new drivers for the MacBook Pro! ForceWare X 179.13 with INF.

Set 'Antialias / Multisample: ON' and for 1 hour while testing QBs and some Scenarios / Campaigns.

Results= NO "buzzing", NO "interrupt" to the system, NO stalls or corruption in video image!

    :D:D:D

This is a major improvement in how the game looks. I think the FPS may have improved a tiny bit a well.

Maybe I should test a little more and post this in the Tech section?

  7. Thanks. I will try your suggestion with the "Marine" Maps" only in the folder and report.

I checked @ 40 maps in my QB folder after removing the "Marine" Maps @ 25(?)to a separate folder.

Last PM I tried all settings to 'random' and QBs worked. Set size to 'tiny' and CTD x3. Then 'small' and got the problem Sandy described #2(side swap after set up) once! Went back to random and QBs worked fine. Then tried medium w/o any QB problems.

Is there an issue with the 'size' of the map setting in QBs?

  8. "That's one of the beauties of this new engine, you can play much smaller scenarios (and I mean small) and get a real sense of tactical drama.

Well said Mord. BTW: Thanks for all your great Mods.

BYTES are great for time limited CMSF folks. Just grabbed Byte Armor for tomorrow.

    Thank you Derfel.

  9. Thanks again for the Scen maps / QB tips.

"...how many pre-loaded QB maps are on your clean Marine Install?"

I will need to check on the number of maps and get back. I have a MBP & the Booty Camp issue... till we get the OSX CMSF+ Normandy 'upgrade'.

I have not purchased Marines yet. I am waiting for the hardgoods = old school. I removed all the QB . Scen maps and mods before I installed CMSF v1.10 standalone patch ("Plain Jane").

I forgot to mention last PM that while mucking with the Editor I noticed some Marines only maps AFTER I tried the QB feature that appeared to remain broken. I then removed the Marines only maps so I could easily stroll through the 1.10 maps. It was after removing the Marines only maps I noted this thread and tried QBs again and they worked!

    Could this be a factor?

  10. OK. Sandy's description ..."2nd attempt - after setting up the US forces and pressing the go button, I found myself with a view over the Syrians and giving orders to the Syrians...." pretty much described my 1.08 and recent 1.10 QB experience = broken.

I tried again tonight on my MacBook Pro and QBs worked for the 1st time! :D

The only difference was the settings used Veteran, Real Time, and Random. Prior to this I had Beginner, Turn Based and specific settings like Tiny, etc.. The only QB maps in the folder are the new ones that came with CMSF v1.10 standalone patch ("Plain Jane"). I moved all of the old maps out to a separate folder.

What I do not understand is I know I tried @ 10 times testing if the QB feature was fixed in 1.10 with only the new 1.10 maps and no mods and QB did not work. Tonight it works! Hallelujah! Can I Have a Witness... because... I am witless as to why all of the sudden, tonight QBs work!

Thanks for your hard work MarkEzra.

I wonder if all the pre 1.10 maps are OK for QBs now?

  11. Why just last week Mr Zardari affirmed ISI & the Pakistani military 'may' have been suspect in the past but now that Mr Zardari is 'in charge' of the gravy spoon.. everyone was to be trusted. Sounds like a flare firing to me.Maybe Asif Ali Zardari can debate the Tribals & A.Q. or is that an ongoing discussion?

CogNative ... UCAV technology is a good thing.

  12. Fair enough.

Would like to have better multi-processor graphics but rather have a single processor system with QB that works.

Good Luck Handihoc. "A great battle, but on a very big urban map with, after an hour, many many units in play. At this point the game slows to a crawl and often crashes..."

Don't have Marines yet but I suspect my MacBook Pro 2.5 would not get very far in the Marines Campaign mission Battle for Objective Pooh. Hours of game fun in the deal with the CPU I have.

Now if 'work' buys a Mac Pro for me next year... I demand multi-multi-processor support. :D

  13. Thanks.

DaveDash, No Audio / 3 D image issues with Antialias / Multisample: ON?

I am impressed. I tried hacked inf drivers from laptop2go but could not get it to work. Maybe I should try the newer drivers again.

I run the MBP in single display mode now for ease of hit on the GPU.

Steve sums it up well re: 10.5. "So for me, anyway, it's a lot of little things that I like about 10.5.x over 10.4.x..."

I disagree with Steve size matters... " Apple 23" Cinema Display 1920 x 1200" is addictive especially when all graphic options are set to maximum & working.

    Thanks again guys,

CogNative ... work gets in the way of play some days 13 hours today ... so I play harder to balance :D

  14. The best way to avoid crazy Windows installation problems is to not install Windows software

Amen to that. CMSF is pretty much the only reason I bother with...variety.

PT great to hear the Marines are available to follow your order on your great scenarios. Enjoy the movies and holidays.
