  1. There was so much more to it. This series is pretty good and covers a lot of the aspects of the SWW and it's sister series Between the Wars does a better job of the causes. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP1AejCL4DA7jYkZAELRhHQ
  2. Pals of mine who spoke German on REFORGER '82 had various requests to have their "panzer" (actually M113, but whatever) hit their fence or car too. Bit of a scam but people are the same the world over.
  3. That's the FN C2, and we technically called it a Light Automatic Rifle. Kind of like an old US BAR, but with a 30 round box magazines. The ones my Militia unit had couldn't handle more than 28 rounds or they'd jam. The ones we had when I first joined were "0Lxxxx" numbers, so were among the first lot acquired by the Canadian Forces at a bet. Even had a ziggurat shaped butt catch on some of them. We had 2 * C2s per 9 or 10 man Rifle section, or at least that was the idea, very much like a SWW Bren group except with double the firepower. E It was even run by the Section 2 i/c like the Bren groups. Some units, like mine, imitated the US fireteam concept and split into 2 * 4 or 5 man fireteams. One run by the Sect. Commander, the other by the 2 i/c. My pals sure liked it as it was mostly reliable, unless it was one of the older clapped out ones that had parts fly or fall off when firing it. That was awkward, especially in deep snow.
  4. Still waiting here in Canada for a non-Amazon.com release. Any update news re any other retailer would be great. I don't really want to have bugger all to do with Amazon.com at this point. I did check the Brit Amazon site per other posts but didn't find it there - might be a wet-ware issue though and pointers would be appreciated.
  5. I can quite honestly say that I've enjoyed all of the mods at one point or another along the route to FINALLY getting to the Cdns. In the interim I was using USMC armoured trucks, LAvs, and UK patrol vehs to try to simulate Nyalas and such for our troops. You can tell where my loyalties lie too I'm sure. There are some killer UK scenarios for light infantry out there in the repository if that's up your alley. Argo Valley for one: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=425 I really like the idea of eventually playing a mixed bag of Cdns supported by other allied forces. Given the CMSF overall scenario, or a home made WW 3 scenario, having our troops supported by US, USMC, Germans, or Dutch elements only make sense. That said, check your budget. I figure if you get an hour worth of gaming for every dollar you spend you've got a heck of a deal. Mine's paid me back a long time ago.
  6. ....which would be less of an issue if I had just bought an iPad thingy. Silly me - buying a really good Android. Waste of coin without Touch to liven it up.
  7. Noob, not sure if Pete has passed you these links to articles with aerial shots of some of your proposed battlefield as well as an aerial photo int shot or two: http://www.wlu.ca/lcmsds/cmh/back%20issues/CMH/volume%208/Issue%203/Wilson%20-%20The%20canadian%20Role%20in%20Operation%20Charnwood,%208%20July%201944%20-%20A%20Case%20Study%20in%20Tank-Infantry%20Doctrine%20and%20Practice.pdf http://www.wlu.ca/lcmsds/cmh/back%20issues/CMH/volume%204/Issue%201/Brown%20-%20The%20Capture%20of%20the%20Abbaye%20D%27Ardenne%20by%20the%20Regina%20Rifles,%208%20July%201944.pdf You may also want to see if a local library has a copy of The Canadian Battlefields of Normandy. There are a few aerial shots to supplement and that excellent map you have.
  8. You might get a good idea of Juno's defences from a book by Company Sgt-Maj. Charlie Martin, DCM, MM, CM, of the QORs. Page 2 of his book "Battle Diary" by Dundurn Press. Sgt-Maj Martin included a sketch map of many of his battles in the book. They're rudimentary but just how much detail do you truly need ? ;-) There are also some post war picture to help out a little bit. Cheers !
  9. ....although I had every SL module up to GI Anvil of Victory. By the time ASL came along there was an old computer based game that was a forerunner to this sort of system. I can't even remember it's name now but it was a great little monochrome effort. There was a follow on modern version that had Brits and helicopters on the cover of the box. There was a Pacific version too. You could do some real neat cheats with the unit editor, like transform your truck platoon into Tigers or switch weapon slots like SPWaW and have a Sherman with a hull mounted 16" gun.
