  1. Once you Add to Cart the discount applies bringing the download price down to the advertised $45 though a physical copy (only) will still cost an additional $20 in postage
  2. Then you are right that would seem to be a bug. We'll await a more knowledgeable response than mine to confirm this.
  3. From the manual "Any changes in a unit's attachment or detachment status will not alter that particular unit's readiness value until the next turn." Unless I'm confusing support and attachment.
  4. If you are more interested in WW2 Europe / Med than Global / Pacific then 1939 SOE Fast Play (available in the Repository) is a good one.
  5. In regard to historic flags, Japan has the "meatball" flag (i.e. large red circle on a white background), Germany has the "historic" flag with a Balkenkreuz replacing the Swastika. Although I also prefer to have historic flags I find the SC German flag the least jarring of compromises. Don't know of any standalone flag mods for GC or the WW2 scenarios of WW1.
  6. In regard to realistic flags / symbols as standard in both GC / SCWW1 (as well as all other SC2 games) you can select NATO symbols as opposed to sprites by deselecting the 3D Units option. I personally never play with the sprites and I'm not sure why almost all the AARs use sprites as the NATO symbols are a lot clearer and in my opinion significantly better looking and in keeping with the scale of the game. With further thought if I had to chose just one of the games I'd go with GC Gold (but it would be a very close choice)
  7. As far as I am aware both GC Gold and SCWW1 use the latest version of the SC2 engine. GC Gold has all the theatres of WW2 on a global map in a scale that makes it playable in about the same time as W&W. SCWW1 has WW1 (surprise!) and with the Storm Over Europe scenario WW2 European and Med theatres with more units and larger maps (covering pretty much the same area as W&W). For both I would highly recommend Storm Over Europe Fast Play scenario (available from the repository, though I think the SCWW1 version may be awaiting an update) which is essentially W&W brought up to date using the new SC Gold / WW1 engine. To sum up - if in addition to an updated / expended version of W&W you would prefer to have WW2 on a global basis go for GC Gold, if ETO/Med is your primary interest then go for SCWW1 with Storm Over Europe / SOE Fast Play for WW2.
  8. Just wanted to say thanks for this scenario - gives all the fun of WaW with all the new features of Gold. For me this is by far my favourite iteration of SC yet, just the right scale to be played with a Grand Strategic viewpoint and with a focus on the Euro/Med theatre which has always (from my Third Reich days onwards) been my main interest.
  9. Kommandant - thanks for the advice I don't really know what I'm doing but gave it a go anyway and changed the hover_click wav file for a silent / nul wav file I had installed as a mod on Distant Worlds (to get rid of the very annoying alarm siren effect) and it has worked perfectly. Now I get a click when I click on a button but no longer have the clickity-click-click irritation when I'm just moving my mouse pointer.
  10. One (admittedly very minor) thing that irritates me with all of the SC games is that when you move your mouse pointer to the right of the map to scroll you invariably drag it over one of the buttons/switches causing a click. is there any way, bar turning all sound off in the settings to turn this off ? P.S. having a lot of fun with the SOE Fast Play at the moment, gives you the original SC2 with all the bells and whistles of Gold/WW1.
  11. Found a solution that works for me My desktop resolution is 1920x1080 If I select in Settings a full screen resolution of 1600x900 then the scroll lag pretty much disappears and to my mind / eyesight it looks better at this res anyway.
  12. FYI I also got a segmentation violation error when trying to start a newly downloaded version of Brute Force - using Excalibur 1.06 version of SC Global with Gold upgrade. Don't know if this is related or not.
  13. Moon - thanks for the reply Address on my CC statement and in my BF account are identical so no idea why this is happening. Used the Paypal option - success. Downloading now.
  14. Thanks for the reply Tried to order 3-4 times but continually got the following error Error: Fraud Protection Services Filter — Declined by filters Error: Failure in Processing the Payment (payflow_pro) Using exactly the same CC as with previous purchases from BF Had the same problem when I tried and eventually gave up in trying to buy PT Boats adding in that post Maybe it is a sign that I should just save my money for the upcomming SC Global Gold Which now seems somewhat ironic. P.S. Just checked my BF account details - all my successful purchases were from previous addresses, move to my current address in May since then my purchase attempts (PT and now SCGG) have failed, double checked my billing address which is correct and the same as my CC address.
  15. Thanks - I had already patched to 1.06 via the Battlefront site. Now that Gold is out I am assuming that there is no point in me (or any other UK retail customers) buying it until there is an Excalibur compatible version of the 1.07 patch. The Excalibur site itself seems to have given up supporting GC afte the 1.04 patch so assume I should keep my eye on the Battlefront site instead.
  16. Looking forward to GC Gold but it appears that I'll not be able to use it and therefore there will be no point in buying it until I can patch to 1.07. I'm assuming as per previous updates we will need a separate patch to the Battlefront one that has just been released. Any indication as to when it may be available - the Excalibur website is still displaying 1.04 as the latest available patch.
  17. Thanks for the reply Notice it now has been updated on the store screens as well. Tried to order 3-4 times but continually got the following error Error: Fraud Protection Services Filter — Declined by filters Error: Failure in Processing the Payment (payflow_pro) Using exactly the same CC as with previous purchases from BF Maybe it is a sign that I should just save my money for the upcomming SC Global Gold
  18. Sort of tempted to buy the combined pack at $15 as advertised on the home page but when you click through to the store page the discount isn't available.
  19. Happy to pay c£15 for the additional features and scenarios assuming that it will work with my UK (Excalibur Publishing) retail edition.
  20. Sounds interesting, waiting with anticipation. One request - keep the scale of the map the same as it is now. I have all of the SC series from SC2 Blitzkrieg to SC WW1 and whilst I like them all and like the improvements to the game engine that have been made with each subsequent release I find the games I play most are Global Conflict and Clash of Steel from PDE. I find that with these the scale and unit density provide for me just the right balance between detail and fun, the resultant shorter turn lengths also makes it more easy to dip in and out of playing the game as time permits. Following on from the above and dependant on the extent of the planned development of GC an ETO only (ie same map parameters as SC2 series) campaign with the GC map and unit scale would be a great addition.
  21. The scrolling lag seems to have been a problem from the initial release onwards, this thread http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=95378 has a few more details. From email communications with Hubert at that point one suggestion was that using a wireless mouse may have caused some of the problem, however not having a non-wireless mouse I haven't been able to test if this is the case or not.
  22. Admitted I was venting a bit. If it is only pre-orderers that are able to download then no problem - but the warning on the e-mail implied otherwise. In any case it is now nearly midnight here in the UK and I've got to work in the morning so maybe a blessing in disguise.
  23. Don't worry at the d/l speed we've now got the physical copy will probably get here first even by Royal Mail !
  24. Agree with this At the download speed I've got now its back to PCO for me for the time being. What bit of ATTENTION! We are offering these early downloads exclusively to pre-order customers as a reward for your trust and loyalty. In your best interest, please do not tell anyone else about it, or the download servers may be flooded with a lot of new customers, robbing you of your ability to download the game quickly. wasn't clear ?
