  1. Man DaddyO you did a good job in that battle! I'll take notes and give that a try when I can. My pc has been acting up and I'm getting a few crashes. Yuk. I've enjoyed replaying some live games on DMB with the 2014 projection but mostly still doing old replays of World Series matches...usually with 59 WSox. This years WSox have had their moments. Abreu injury hurts...he was one of the few bright spots. Even my Cardinals are struggling. Oh well...59 and 2005 WSox are great. : ) Hope your are feeling some better and improving. Take good care. Forgot you were into CM.
  2. Been watching for the RT demo for two weeks. Caught it about an hour ago and after just playing for about 15 min it looks terrific. I've been away from CMBN etc for several months so I started working with that again two weeks ago. I'm getting pretty old and this brain doesn't remember a lot. Anyway look forward to getting into RT. Thanks BF for the demo. I'm sure I'll be buying this shortly. With this old memory though I've got my work cut out. Example in CMBN I took some fellas off of a jeep too early. I tried and bunch of icon solos and combinations and never could find a way to get them back in the jeep. : ) Going to have to restudy the manuals. Anyway...the demo has a great look to it.
  3. Sorry to waste time. Been awhile since I played my CMBN and for the life of me I can't find anywhere that shows was version # I have. I'm getting back into CM games and thinking of getting Red Thunder. Just don't know if I have the latest version of CMBN or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks again fellas for the help. Got my questions answered. I have enjoyed the big battles in my time but in my old age I enjoy the much smaller battles. One division or the really little ones. And I take my time on those. Looks like RT handles all the variables. Glad to hear that.
  5. Thanks for the info. I guess then my next question would be does RT have a smooth system to create your own battles/skirmishes like CMBN does? Thanks
  6. I've enjoyed the old Combat Mission games in the past. And I like CM: Battle for Normandy. But my preference most of the time is using the small mission setups in CMBN. I like having just 10-20 soldiers on a probe mission or something like that. I was just wondering if Red Thunder has those as well. Thanks for your time.
  7. You take good care DaddyO. My last post here. Many people don't understand the English language and most here in this thread probably never served 5 minutes in the military. Glad to hear that CM will be staying away from the gutter talk. Good to hear about the buildings. Had no idea this would cause such a stir when I just wanted to know if the game would be appropriate for my young grandson. It is a game. Would appreciate the forum manager deleting this thread.
  8. Really looking forward to BN. Enjoyed the old CM games. Couple of questions. 1. Will any foul language in CM:BN be any worse than the previous games? Hoping my grandson will be able to enjoy the game without the crud. 2. Noticed in some of the game movies that buildings seem to either be basically destroyed or not touched. At least that was my conclusion. Will the game show buildings with just some partial destruction etc? Such as one or two walls remaining. Curious. Thanks for your time.
  9. I own TOW original and TOW2. I was looking forward to this demo of TOW3 Korea but the demo won't work for me. After the dl and install I went to play the demo after hitting play. Screen went blank and then the original screen came up with the box to order the game. The little play box was gone. So I deleted everything and dl from a different site. Same results. I wonder if it is because I have TOW on Steam. Won't work on my Win7 HP. Guess I'll have to wait for a demo on their site. Disappointing.
  10. Thanks Sand Digger... I was just getting impatient. I think I'll try to grab the game on ebay. From using the demo my grandson can move the soldiers etc much easier than he can in CM Shock Force. So I'll stick with TOW2. Thanks again. The search wasn't very helpful but I probably didn't try it enough. Have a great weekend and thanks again for helping the old man.
  11. Oh well...skip this thread. Guess I'll go back to CM Shock Force as it doesn't look like there is much interest in TOW anyway. Disappointing.
  12. I've enjoyed Combat Mission and Shock Force through the years and TOW and TOW2 are interesting. Especially since now I have a new more powerful PC. So I'm considering getting TOW2 for myself and my young grandson. Couple of questions: 1. I noticed in the demo that there appears to be no ability for medics to impact the injured. Is that aspect not in the full game or just left out of the demo? 2. Are there any mods for TOW or TOW2 that just involve small squads? I like those sometimes better than a large confrontation. I did a little searching and could only find a few mods for the game. 3. Checked the manual quickly but couldn't find the possibility of saving a replay of a battle. Is there one? Thanks for your time.
  13. I have the 7600GS and it works terrific with CMSF. CMSF...just like a brand new game since the 1.07 patch. Great great job!!
  14. Fantastic. I posted a few months back about finding the game for $20 in my fav pc gaming store. You guys game me some good insight and some encouragement (especially the fighting seabee) fella for my 92 year old step father in law that is in the nursing home. Well...I just had too much trouble with the game even with the 1.5 patch. So I sold it last week on ebay. Then I got the email about 1.06 with the popup move/tactic boxes. Guess what...after doing some reading here I'm going BACK to the store to purchase another copy! Back to the drawing board!! Go CMSF!!
  15. Indeed Stoat...the beautiful eagles are back! Awesome. Thanks MarkEzra...
  16. Just wanted to say thanks again fellas for all your input about CMSF. And it was great chatting about my step Father in Law and other matters. I finally went ahead and bought the $20 Paradox version at the PC store I mentioned in my first post. In a word: Fantastic!! With my ram now over 1 gig everything is smooth sailing. Looks great. Just installed the 1.05 patch yesterday. I'll be playing this game a good deal. I miss the WWII atmosphere etc but for me CMSF is just fine. Thanks again. Now...where are those mods...
  17. Thanks fellas. I think I'll go with CMAK and grab some of the mods.
  18. I have CM Overlord. Which of CM AK and CMBB is the best looking on the PC or are they both about the same? Just wondering about a purchase. Thanks. Don't have the time to dl the demos to look myself right now.
  19. Thanks again fellas for the variety of input. And to think the PC store that I'm referring to doesn't even have the game in the bargain bin. It is the original set price. At any rate I dl the demo again and it played well last night. Maybe a few things I removed in the past improved my meager 512 ram. I just wish the scenario that I played (and won) was so dark. Tough on the eyes. Of course maybe winning chances would be reduced in the daylight. East St. Louis. Mercy. Many years ago some of us helped a sweet widow lady at our church move out of ESL to her daughter's house in Troy, IL. Kate Patch said she would never move. Her memories of the earlier ESL were fantastic. But when she was mugged in her home and knocked in the head she changed her mind. Quickly. God bless you guys.
  20. Thanks fellas for making me smile. I live about 20 minutes from the St. Louis Cardinal stadium on the Illinois side. Indeed...flat land, beautiful farming areas, etc. But the scenery along the Mississippi river road is fantastic. Fighting Seabee: I'm going to try to copy your reply and enlarge it and let Frank read it himself. It will be a blessing to him. Thank you for your service! Take care fellas...
  21. Thanks fellas for your time and responses. I've been told the extra gig or two of ram is a given. Another reward from my daughter and son-in-law for the free babysitting of my amazing grandson! I'm going to go ahead and grab the game. It will be a worthy purchase for $20 I'm sure. Despite any difficulties that might be involved in relearning the game. To the Fighting Seabee poster: Your post intrigued me. Are you a veteran of the Seabees? I just got home awhile ago from the nursing home. My 90 year old step father-in-law has been there for about 3 weeks and sadly may never be able to return home. He was a fighting Seabee in WWII in the Philipines.
  22. I've enjoyed all 3 versions of CM in the past. However with only 512 ram CM SF doesn't run smoothly. This has influenced my enjoyment of the game needless to say. Today I couldn't believe it but CM SF is for sale in my fav computer store for just $20. I think for Christmas I'm getting a gift of 1 or 2 gig of ram. The rest of my system specs are up to par. Now I'm in a quandry. Do I go ahead and get the game not knowing for sure I will like the new game aspects or do I wait until I get the gigs and run the demo. Oh well. My call. Dumb question. Although I have to admit that some of the negative talk here has me questioning the game. Anyway, the price of just $20 at Electronic Boutique was a surprise.
