  1. Thank you Schrullenhaft for your excellent and timely technical support. Windows 98! now that is legacy! Definitely got to get this game going. I've noticed some skin technicalities that are of interest. Also the editor seems straight forward. (Not that I've been able to create a mission yet.) Cheers,
  2. No success. E-license control panel not associated with anything thus locking the .exe's out. Hence I cannot even "unlicense" the PT-Boat install to my pc as registered during purchase. Have to deal with Zuggsoft support to see if they can offer any advice. At least I didn't pay a fortune for the software.
  3. Thanks for the super quick reply! This looks promising... DEP settings got some impossible programs to run for me before. (The original MSFFB2 configuration program for one!) I hope to post a success.
  4. Saw the videos and read the forums. Seemed like a simple "add privileges" to get the games working in win7. So went ahead and bought it. Did the default install to C:\Program Files (x86). After install the desktop icons were default windows so no surprises there. Went in and changed privileges and run as admin, changed ownerships etc to no avail. Uninstalled including the Xvid directory. (Manual uninstall.) Installed to C:\ this time to get around some of win7 privileges issues like many other games. (This time the path is C:\Battlefront\Akella\PT Boats). Still got the dialog box when trying to execute the executables. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Fine... I've gone in and changed the run as admin settings, changed ownership to administrators, then user, to no avail. Checked that all admin and users have full permissions. I have full control of all the files except the 3 .exe files for the game. The editor comes up okay. Still cannot get around the denial on the .exe's. Anyone had any joy getting this game to run on windows 7?
  5. Need full steel road wheel pics please to compare.
  6. Agreed Praetori, you have to remind yourself that this is a table top war game, not a first person shooter graphical game engine. Rest easy knowing that all the nuances of combat will be accurately modelled, and with this game that is the most important factor. The game engine just can't cope with the eye candy that well, and most likely never will.
  7. I should've mentioned that I get those error messages too, but I click on continue and carry on. So the first error is where it all goes pear shaped. There are error log files in the log directory that will explain the error further. I would sit down and look at these further but I'm pretty sure it is an issue within the .exe itself and possibly newer versions of .NET. This app is not supported by 1C. Only through the very good grace of the venerable Dr. Jones that any SFS extractor has reached modders. For the benefit of the whole TOW and IL-2 community. He may revisit that app at some stage if he is so inclined but I am certain he would be a very busy man. I'm sure if you could speak russian you may have a shot at tracking down a fileslist.txt file for Kursk43 somewhere on the net. Cheers,
  8. This is as far as I get. (Pics then description.) I set the mission editor location by clicking on the elipse (3 dot) button on right to get the dialog box up. Then drill down and highlight the right directory and click ok. I set the extact location by clicking on the next elipse button to get the dialog box up. I'd created a directory called myextracts. Goto the menu, file, save. Enter you configuration filename, which will be an XML file. I've named mine myextractsettings.xml -> make sure you type in the .xml part to your filename and click save. Now you need to mount some SFS files. Goto menu, tools, mount to get the dialog box up. Click to highlight an SFS file and click open. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IMAGE REMOVED DUE TO LIMITATION OF 5 IMAGES. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you go menu, tools, unmount, the dialog will show what SFS files have been mounted. I believe you need to keep mounting the SFS files to make them accessable. (I only get one shot at mounting a file so I save mysavesettings.xml file, close, reopen and mount the next new file. Repeat until all needed SFS files are mounted then close. Restart the extractor and go menu, files, load, and in the dialog box open your "myextractsettings.xml" (your filename). The white box on the left is a standard directory tree modal/display. I believe if it were working properly, that all the files named in the fileslist.txt file that match with the mounted SFS files will display in this tree box. You click to highlight the file you want, go menu, tools, extract. An bingo, your file is now in the "myextracts" directory. The top right of the program box is there to help drill down to find specific files displayed on the left hand side for selection to extract. The above pic shows what I get, that is where I am at, that is what I get for now. The add/remove dialog is when you right click on the tree box. If you get further please post. Cheers,
  9. Thanks for the Heads Up Knokke! Unfortunately didn't work. Gives me more time to work on other projects I guess. Maybe one day...
  10. Since migrating to Windows 7 64bit I have lost access to the usual tools for modding this great game. Would someone be kind enough to provide access to the 1.3.1 version of the ..data/local/en files please. (I have gone through all iterations of SFSextraction without success, that is why I am asking.) filelist.txt contents would be; (Some file references may not be relevent to Kursk43) data\local\en\ammo.utf8 data\local\en\award_desc.utf8 data\local\en\awards.utf8 data\local\en\credits.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_armoredcar.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_artillery.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_car.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_flak.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_hmg.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_spg.utf8 data\local\en\encdescription_tanks.utf8 data\local\en\epilogue.utf8 data\local\en\guns.utf8 data\local\en\hkeys.utf8 data\local\en\items.utf8 data\local\en\messages.utf8 data\local\en\months.utf8 data\local\en\names.utf8 data\local\en\ranks.utf8 data\local\en\skills_desc.utf8 data\local\en\strings.utf8 data\local\en\tips.utf8 data\local\en\units.utf8 Thanks!
  11. Do the modders of the Eastern Wind Extension mod have a website?
  12. You have a pm VonManstein. I could not find the english update, where would I find it?
  13. Okay. There were two items that I could not identify in the mod pack. They both seem to have very very long barrels that I've not seen before. After googling I found that they are fitted with the long calibre 57mm. The T34-57 were manufactured in small numbers. It looks as though the appropriate files are available in the mod to modify the descriptions. Will look at filling in the details for the ?'s
  14. Sneaksie, can you vouch for this mod since it implies you are involved?
  15. I was hoping that some dedicated people would fill in some equipment gaps in this great game. And they came to the rescue. Many thanks to all involved!!! Is there any chance of getting an english translation of the readme please? I understand the directory copying but I want to make sure I get the kill-bin.bat sequence right for the missions. (After doing a full copy of my working Kursk directory of course. )
  16. No. Still broken. And now they bring out broken Korea
  17. After the patch 1.3, infantry still turn 180 degrees to the direction ordered after they move. Not fixed as stated in the patch readme. I still have not got past game 2 of the German campaign.
  18. Where can I get the filelist.txt for Kursk? The Battlefront Repository is down at the moment.
  19. Nice work! (about your first post.) If you have the capacity, adding more RAM is the cheapest way of squeezing that little bit extra oomph to your computer as you have found. Unfortunately you can only squeeze so much before a complete upgrade is necessary.
  20. German campaign mission 2. Repeated behaviour with different Orders of Battle # units sent toward the left flank of town will turn and face rearwards after completing a move forward command. (As per Stimo's post - including double start.) # Tanks will attack close infantry in a trench while under fire from distant AT fire. (Two tigers and a charging panther after one solitary soldier in the very first trench in town, while under attack from the AT guns. Three main battle tanks grinding over a single soldier, all the while under AT fire and getting taken out.) Saved games have been deleted and the mission started again. I think the sliding Tiger tank was just an anomaly. (Caught on fraps though!) Infantry fighting bug seen as well.
  21. I feel your pain. My sniper gets so close he could whiz on their helmets in the emplacements - if he could spot them...
  22. Fortunately I've got the save just prior to the condition. Unfortunately I was able to reproduce the condition consistantly. I will pm you the save file and report, if I can compress them enough, the fraps movie captures as well. One thing I didn't notice until retesting was the PzrIVF1 also did the same thing more so than the Wespe's.
  23. First mission in German Campaign with 1.2.4 installed. Selected two Wespes for Arty support. If the Sturmoviks attack, the Wespes start shooting at them and turn like crazy to get a line of fire on them, just like the Flak guns. Would someone confirm this. (Haven't tried the Hummels yet.)
