Thanks i will look at the mod. I replayed the Demo last night and i must admit that i enjoyed it far more this time. I do like the Chaos that it brings to you, but in a way that you can tactically fight your way out of it as opposed to mass brawls found in other games. Seeing my armoured reinforcemants push back the onslaught of british tanks + the damage i did with carefully hidden panzerfausts was a triumph!!!. Then to find myself having to quickly scurry and rotate to face a right flank sweep was great. Hmm roll on the 25th June (payday)

Is it just with this game? If do i know that heat issues cause this, but if not then have a play about with your settings from within the options. Also have a look at your forceware drivers and make sure that anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing are on application controlled.

Looking back i think that i will go ahead and buy it soon. I will download the patch in the meantime to avoid having such a huge download later. If as you say the editor is that good, then maybe i will finally have a good tactical WWII rts game in my collection. What is the campaign like by the way? and is there a recommended mod for the game? (do like to add mods in my games)

Downloaded the demo last night and i must say that it was quite good. I love the close combat series and more hands on rts games like company of heroes, so i was hoping to see the game working a bit like the two almagamated together. I wasn't dissapointed but there was something i couldn't quite put my finger on which has stopped me from buying the full product. The defence against the British onslaught that you get with the demo seemed very easy......i was just wondering if this is the general feel from all. Also i didnt have to do alot to achieve it apart from set up as best i could. Now i know that the set up is important and maybe i deserved the victory for the way i did it, but i feel that the British tanks could have swept my rear at anytime.which they didnt. Any replies welcome

Ah i see I have just installed an ATI HD3850pro which is a cracking card for eye candy gaming. However, it all seems a bit much for this game. This card is DX10.1 compat, and your card is certainly better suited to older games. Happy gaming then

It's difficult to say, it all seems a bit hit and miss.

Respect to you Sfox28 Squad leader was the start of it all for me as a spotty teenager in the 80's Like you i went through the close combat series (not 1 or COI though) Just wondering about this game at the mo, i'm 50/50 about buying it. I would respect your opinion as a fellow wargamer on this

The virtual pc might be worth a shot. However, Matt from tech support just got back to me regarding my problem with my new HD3850 pro and said that there is a good chance that it's down to the newness of my card. With an HD2600 i guess that there is a good chance that you are in the same cesspit as me. Good luck

Yeah i use CCleaner which is a great tool for tidying up the registry. Matt form tech-support got back to me and said that there is a huge chance of it being down to my new gpu. I'm at a loss now

Oh dear!! I can't even get the bloody game to run properly on XP. New hardware all installed etc............ I for one am not prepared to take back my new HD3850pro for one game. oh well maybe we need that update after all.Wish i read this post before buying the game at the weekend

well don't buy the HD 3850pro if you intend to play this game. I Love this graphics card for all my games except this one. It's a nightmare for this i can tell you

Hi all, Ok i went and bought the game.....guess what 1)Game loads 2)I select the resolution 3)Pick my scenario 4)Pick my team 5)Map loads 6)White boxes no text (no anti-aliasing + no anisotropic filtering) Ok i think, i will have a look at another way of getting rid of that. 7) look around map 8) game freezes 9) No amount of alt-tab , ctrl+alt+del will get me out 10) BSOD 11) "Windows has recovered from a serious error" ARGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Latest drivers etc.......no spyware etc.....all known fixes tried.............. No other game crashes, my computer runs like a dream. Have i wasted my money?? It's ok , i am putting it down to being a demo and not the full product. There is also a chance that my new graphics card is having some issues with the game (just because it works with everything else doesn't mean that it will work with this 100% etc.......) I always get there in the end and i will give it a go. It was the fact that it crashed my pc (self built, tweaked over years pride and joy etc....) which upset me a bit. No it was the proper download......i have been into computers for too long for that (comp is self built) every game i have runs like a charm, but they are all modern (apart from CCV but that runs fine) Oh well if i can pick up a cheap edition from ebaY then i will give the full version a shot.

It seems to be a case of the newer the Graphics card the bigger the problem. I have moved to sudden strike 3 which runs great.

Thanks for all the replies, I have had far too many issues with the running of the demo to warrant a full purchase. Yes i have all up to date drivers etc..... All my other games run great so i'm disappointed that this doesn't. Hate to say it but with the issues here + the problems people have had with the new COI i have decided to buy Sudden Strike 3. Yes i know it's not as intelligent, but i played it for most of the weekend and it hasn't disappointed me (realism is lacking but it's fun). Perhaps for casual play this is a better option Thanks again for all your help

I thought “Ok troubleshooting page” Applied the relevant fixes………..no good Added 98, Me compat to the exe file no good. Put the game back to original state, minimized and then full screen……….game crashes and no alt/ctrl/del or alt tab will exit. “Computer recovered from a serious error” was my welcome message on restart. ARGH!!!!!! I haven’t seen that for ages. Oh well back to the old drawing board then Looks like a "No sale for me then!" L

hahahah yeah i expected it as much. well one thing has helped to sell it for me and its this http://europeanhistory.about.com/od/gamingresources/tp/aatppcwar.htm number 4 eh?? looks good to me. Also your mod link looks very promising for long play. One major question i would like to ask is... Is the game a linear experience or do you get to take territories as you see fit?? (like the total war series)

Hi everyone, i am just about to purchase a new wargame and its a choice of either 1) Cross of Iron 2) CMBB I already have Close combat 2-5 so i was wondering if CMBB is a better option. I don't have an awful amount of playing time so i was wondering if the learning curve might be a bit too steep for casual play (loved hearts of iron but too deep for casual gaming). CCBB looks a very good game, but i have a pc built for the likes of oblvion etc......so i worried about the possible issues with a new graphics card (HD3850pro).
