  1. Not long after CMSF was first released I came here and posted comments praising the game. Shortly thereafter a number of replies explained how wrong I was, and that it (CMSF) was a dog, at least in its early form. Though I have been enjoying digital gaming since “pong” debuted in the early 1970s, I accepted that perhaps my understanding of what constitutes an excellent modern digital wargame is lacking, and I deserved my visit to the “woodshed”. So tell me please, all you digital wargaming masters, what is your assessment of CMRT now that you’ve had some time to shake it down? The campaign and its massive scale are probably not for me, but I think that I, a 60 year-old casual gamer, could enjoy QBs and smaller scale scenarios.
  2. I'd like to say that I love the demo Battlefront, but when I praised the release of CMSF way back when, I was told by some that I must be an idiot because that game was a POS. I guess that I just love war games, especially the WWII period, and understand that most new games are improved with time. Anyway, thanks for the game, and for what it will become, P.
  3. Battlefront, I have a suggestion for you. One that may (eventually) silence the throng of disgruntled CMSF customers that complain left and right on your forums and others. The problem isn't with LOS, or pathfinding, or tactical AI, or any other "issue" that is incessantly raised. The problem is that you have made a game that depicts the evil, expansionist forces of the US beating up on the noble, peaceful forces of Syria just like they have in real life elsewhere in the Islamic world. Your next game should depict the US getting its ass handed to it by, say Iran. At the rate of decay in the West, (especially Europe) every so-called man will be wearing a turban by the time you release the new game, and it will sell like hotcakes. And anyone who dares complain about it will be beheaded! Praise to lord Mohammed!
  4. I too have enjoyed these scenarios very much, but I felt compelled to post a reply when you mentioned playing with Airfix soldiers as a youth. I trace my love of wargamming back to those same soldiers and an assortment of matchbox (metal), some other plastic HO scale armored vehicles, and a big 4' x 8' train layout. My brother, myself, and one friend in particular would spend literally hours setting up close to a thousand figures, and then somehow "play out" the battle. Being the youngest I would be forced to play as the allies who would always lose. I didn't care much though, because it was so much fun to me. It was fun, like I think CMSF is fun. A lot of fun. One thing I haven't seen mentioned much in the forums which makes CMSF enjoyable for me is the pause function in RT. It might make the game too hurky-jerky for most, but you can stop the action and give or change orders whenever you want. Anyway, I like to play it that way. Forgive the stroll down memory lane and keep up the good work. By the way, what's a rockery?
