problem is other games need latest drivers, so rolling back to an obsolete driver is not a great solution to a problem that is quite old. It should be fixed by now.

we gotta love both companys tho one company completely ignore the issue and keeps pumping out cheap cards for everyone to storm the market but fails to expand its workforce to support such a market,
and the other company just reskins units and UIs adds a few new missions and sells it as a new game and white knights defend them.

Sure i could have hit you with a block text, but if you give this statement a minute of thought you should realise that is is the truth "we gotta love both companys tho one company completely ignore the issue and keeps pumping out cheap cards for everyone to storm the market but fails to expand its workforce to support such a market,

Vehicles will block small arms fire. In the various titles I generally want infantry to keep some distance from the armor. 1) If the infantry are leading they might get the drop on enemies with relatively short ranged AT rockets. 2) If the armored vehicle gets hit and blows up* the infantry doesn't get suppressed and killed.

*This is even more important with the modern titles and BMP3s. I am convinced that the BMP3 remains the best VBIED in the game.

Haha... I know the engine history of CM but I'm still floored when I try it out again just how terrible it runs on high end hardware. I know it's opengl, and all the in my opinion bad engine choices (remember no Speed tree?) back in pre CM2 days but you'd think through the years some kind of improvements would have been made.

We wanted to concentrate on the British Army of the Rhine and Canadians first, mainly for selfish reasons and also because we have a couple people on the team who are experts on the British Army so it was the obvious choice for us.
We do have plans for the German Army too, but that will unfortunately have to wait.

    Cold Warriors.
Well it looks like Steve has already dropped the mic over on the annual update thread, so let myself, Bil H and Cpt Miller (along with a small team of unwashed heathens - two of whom are actually from the UK), be the second to announce the first CMCW Module - CMCW - British Army On the Rhine (BAOR).

We are still in development so I will only outline the broad strokes of what we are working on, and insert the caveat that we reserve the right to add/subtract -
     - Time frame of the game is going deeper backwards into the Cold War.  We are setting the clock back to 1976, so CMCW will now encompass 1976-1982 (including some minor tweaks to the existing US orbats).  As has been noted we are less interested in the later Cold War years largely because they really do start to resemble the later CM titles and we are shooting to keep CMCW distinct in its own right.
    - UK BOAR - right now we have a pretty comprehensive build planned for the UK units as they transitioned from their 1974 structures - to where they landed in 1980.  As per the picture above players should be able to become deeply engaged within the historical BAOR sector of the ETO.
    - And because I just have to represent the home team, we are also doing the Canadians.  That little black box is the planned 4 CMBG AO - you will note this was right at the tail end when the brigade was still part of the BAOR, although for those that really want to play First Clash and park them down in Lahr you are fee to do so because the basic unit structures remained the same.
    - We do have plans for the Soviet side, but are going to hold off on details until we zero them fully in...more to follow.
    - I will let you all speculate and discuss what new vehicles and weapon systems we are talking about but there is a not insignificant list of new ones we are planning - more as we start to get some cool screen shots.
As noted by Steve, we are well on our way and are planning for a release this year - content and full scope remains TBA.
Thank you all very much for your support, the response to CMCW has been well beyond what we were expecting and that is entirely thanks to you guys.

Nice that they fixed the T-90s but

Gil still broke, even worse, the hotfix I made for it doesn't work anymore 😪.
They changed it from firing out at the angle of the launcher, to a totally horizontal launch now, then it falls into the same ground-skimming obstacle-seeking flight profile.

I'm actually not offended, but I invite you to take a look at it from the other side. Some of us spent a long time testing and reproducing bugs and dutifully logging them in order to help improve the game.
Maybe in a couple of cases, I've been wrong about a bug, that's possible. But in most of the cases, I'm pretty sure I have been right. And in some cases, those bugs have then been picked up by a beta tester like yourself, verified, and then fixed, which was very nice.
In recent years though, patches have been getting pretty scarce, and I'm sure there are many good reasons for that. But I'm also sure the reason is not that there are no more bugs to fix. If BFC prefers to focus on developing a PBEM tournament system instead of doing patches or new features, that's of course their decision.
The thing that triggered me was not that the stuff I like doesn't get worked on. I understand there are many different things to balance when running a business, and feedback from geeks like me is just one of them. It was more that I was getting the feeling that the community here is in general being looked down on and portrayed as irrational, childish, and unreasonable, when I think there are actually a lot of really clever and creative people here.
Not including myself, because my contribution has been mostly limited to bug reports, various gameplay change suggestions, a couple of scenarios, and trying to help people with tech and gameplay questions. And, yes, occasional grumbling.
But I think Battlefront's "typical customer" deserves a bit more credit. Unless there are a lot of angry and stupid players out there that I overlooked.

Ok guys we have been green lit to make a formal announcement on this shortly.  Until then let’s just clear up a bit of confusion with respect to timeframes - we are going backwards not forwards.  More to follow…

I will add the last thing this game series needs is bureaucracy intervention nonsense by Slitherine. Release the games when they are ready, ffs. You all already wasted a year on this nonsense PBEM++ which was clearly a downgrade. I assume this was heavily persuaded by/forced upon by Slitherine.
I'm not mad or anything but it has to be said. What the hell are we pushing release dates back for? These games are niche and pushing release dates makes absolutely no sense until you can market the game as something more. I.e. multiplayer.
I wouldn't doubt a large percentage of people see the lack of multiplayer and are turned away.

The tool to make maps is painful to use. At the very least the format for combat mission maps should be open sourced so that someone could build a better tool. I saw the recent thread about a terrain mapper tool, but the way it has to work is pretty hilarious.
Expecting adoration for profoundly negative news is unrealistic. Besides, since no progress is made, new bones have no point.

    True...
But one thing that Battlefront could do is to improve the map editor...or the entire scenario editor for that matter.
That is something the community can't do...

This mirrors my thoughts almost exactly. Problems in the game last for years without being addressed, both gameplay and technical, and nothing ever seems to move forward. Even the new content seems lesser these days (CMRT, CMBS, and CMCW seem to have the same list of quickbattle maps, more or less.). Hell, I posted about the T-90 issue in CMBS 9 months ago, and finally heard a month ago that it was fixed and we would see it "very soon". Well, very soon has been a month so far, and now it seems like maybe there are months left to go. Not that it matters, without some sign of life from Battlefront, I doubt I can convince any of my friends to turn up for another CM2x game. This copy paste of last year's status update has not helped. Seeing features for the Professional version that have been wanted for years veto'd from ever seeing the light of day on the commercial version is especially demoralizing.

Battlefront seems to be a company with the output capacity of a single guy in his garage, but the agility of a company with 50000 employees. It's frustrating.
I will disagree here. There is nothing wrong with OpenGL for an older game. I wouldn't recommend it for new projects, but it is still strongly supported in Windows environments, and some top quality games run great with it. You just had to have implemented it correctly, or if not, kept up with maintenance when your spaghetti code breaks down with new driver updates. As for Apple support, nothing can really be done about that. Apple has always been willing to pull the rug out from under customers and developers with little notice.
