  1. Do the Stryker M128s (with the big guns) auto-reverse? I was playing a well known scenario and found my force, consisting of M128s and M126s abreast confronting a platoon of T72. The M126s, sighting the beasts, backed up smartly behind the hill to the rear. The M128s stood in place and and tried to duke it out with the Syrians. Who destroyed them one by one.

  3. Good, you've finally arrived at the seventh stage of grief: Acceptance! By now it's pretty clear that, with their current format of combining WEGO and RT, the current and future iterations of CM are always going to incorporate two similiar but non-identical games. Short of tweaking the TacAI to Newtonian perfection, WEGO will continue as, OK, the not the ugly stepchild, but as the sub-optimal alternative to RT. But I suppose this has been discussed to death....
  4. Agreed. Addressing a minor, unglamorous limitation like this would go a long way towards decreasing the 'flavor' deficit in regards to infantry ops.
  5. Not currently, possible. CMSF restricts the deployment of the squad to the outer peripheries of rooms. No intermediate positions for ambushing or extra concealment as in CM1x; they're always nose to window- or balcony. Maybe something to revisit in the future.
  6. Thanks for the input, Webwing. As I recall, the Syrian vehicles rolled by unmolested by the hiding, cover arc-endowed squad. We're probably talking 10 meters. No saved file. If you want to test it, the scenario is Small Gain by El Terrifico. (Side note: hmmm, I note I'm actually playing the game instead of whinging on the forum.)
  7. The situation (vs. AI, WEGO) I experienced was: a US platoon in light woods, behind a short wall overlooking a road. Syrian vehicles were expected and I gave them a Cover Arc. If I Hid them they saw nothing much past the wall. Standing, they had a good view of the road- blue lines- but were, of course, more exposed. So- crossing into their Cover Arc provokes the same response, Hidden or not?
  8. Well, one can see this technique functioning in RT. What about WEGO?
  9. Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but: OK, if your guys are Hiding, they can't see. Or they see a lot less. So how does one Ambush without giving away one's position? You could Hide while ambushing in CM1, but not now(?).
  10. Is water *really* important for operations in Eastern Syria? (Just curious)
  11. In a non-combat zone? Maybe it's time for the developer(s) to step in. (Hehe, this thread is pwned)

  14. OK, I'll bite: the FAST command continues to be about as useful as the Pope's pudenda. QUICK, will get a unit the same distance minus the fatigue. FAST troops may have less situational awareness but should this effect speed in protected, non-fire zones? Am I alone in thinking that this small stuff is more important than tweaking the 'shatter gap'? (/kvetch off)

  17. It's definitely getting better. Humble prediction: CMSF will hit the sweet spot, pleasing 90% of us, around update #12. In other words, the same number of patches CMBO required.
  18. Because most developers maintain a remote, guarded presence on their fan forums if they don't go screaming from the room and vanish forever. Steve possesses Olympian forbearance. Myself, I'd go raving bonkers.
  19. Bingo, Ken. It's like viewing an actor's face close-up on a HD digital screen instead of one derived from an analog source; the blemishes, wrinkles and razor burns really stick out. Pitiless, but there's the dilemma.
