  1. Where did i say i was playing wego? Ive checked my own post ten times and im sure its not there. Of course it wont be there because i was playing realtime!

And on the point of it being a game, ANY game is only fun when EVERYONES playing by the same rules. The idea that the computer has its OWN rules kills any sense of fairplay.

Also, no amount of REPLAYING a one minute round will let me spot a unit (thats stationary) unless the game mechanics dictate that ive spotted it.

And seeing as we are almost two modules into the development of this game shouldnt the games most basic mechanics be working. To be asking us to pay for modules when this sort of problem still occurs is CRAZY!!

  2. Come on, this is beyond funny. I tried playing the new demo, focusing on the british mission, and was a little supprised to see a recoiless rifle suddenly get spotted by one of my scimitars (at about 300 meters)

"Wow" thought I, "surely BFC have fixed the spotting issues" and seeing as i was moving my boys reasonably quickly i thought nothing of losing that scimitar (on the right flank, on "our" side of the ridge)

However, after 5 minutes none of my units (2 sniper teams and 1 javalin) had spotted anything even after incoming rounds took out a jackal.

So i loaded the same mission and played as the syrians. Now imagine my horror as a jackal drove down the ridge and across maybe 300 meters of open ground TOTALY unobserved by ANY of the syrian units on the (syrian) left flank.

I left all syrian units in situ at the start so one sagger team in particular had an elevated possition, was facing towards the jackal, and yet still didnt spot it!!

How can this still be happening so long after launch and after so many patches?

  3. Adam,

How much of a chance do you think a single, trained and experienced soldier, would have of spotting a MG firing at him over a period of 20 seconds when the terrain is fairly open and cover is not all that good? Let's just say 1 in 10. If he was alone this wouldn't be good odds, but if you have 10 men then statistically speaking the chances of spotting are almost a sure bet. Correct? OK, well... let's say it's 1 in 20 and you have 10 men, you're now talking about at least a 50/50 chance of spotting the MG, right?

    Steve

Errrr No, and im sorry if someone else pointed this out but i didnt see it if they did, but the odds of spotting dont increase because there are more soldiers there (to sit the test game wise) the odds remain 1 in 10.

All soldiers INDIVIDUALY have the odds 1 in 10 to spot whatever, chance dictates that they could be there forever with out actualy spotting anything due to the fact the previous people (being tested) cant effect the actual situation.

ie: ten balls in a sack all numbered 1 to 10 and ten people, if you tell them to pick a ball and KEEP it then the first guys odds are 1 in 10 but OVER THE GROUP its a sure thing. Tell them to pick a ball then put it BACK and the odds over the group REMAIN 1 in 10.

  4. Id agree with the guys here, does sound like an overheating gpu, i had a mate whos fan fell off his card and he just glued it back on, it even worked for a few months :D

A format cant hurt either, if its fubar and non responsive right now youve got nothing to lose from a format. Redo everything and start with the last driver combo you know worked.

Even if you go through all that and it still doesnt work it was worth a shot.

Best of british to you old chap.

  5. You cant say that a whole squad should be more effective then a H/M mg in a sf role.

And realy dude you lose all credability when you say things like "the rpg-7 is much better than the gimpy" Im going to type this as clearly as i can so you get it.

An rpg is an anti-tank weapon and the gpmg is a machine gun, one is for killing hard armoured things, the other for killing soft squishy things. How exactly can you say one is better than the other! Your an idiot! How about you try telling me why cheese is better than ham in a samwhich, oh wait, you cant!

Lets try an easier one for you shall we, would you care to explain how even ten guys with rifles could put down the same weight of fire as an MG at over 400 meters?

Seriously people, lets think before we type please.

  6. Hi all, I did some testing yesturday with US snipers and MG's and not once did i manage to supress the enemy.

I did my testing on two empty "lanes" of terrain, one with sand and one with short grass, 500 meteres long.

On all tests (played wego) i ordered syrian squads to hunt for thier first two turns, on the US second turn i gave the fire order, and for the syrians remaining turns i ordered an assault move the rest of the distance. The firing troops were firing from ground level.

All troops involved were normal, or the middle selection, for all veriables.

Not once did i suppress the enemy as they moved towards my possitions. Infact with the sniper units (taken from the compaqny level) i could cause upto 50% cassualities in the squad and they would keep moving.

The m240's faired even worse. Even "deployed" which im guessing is supposed to be in sf mode my mg's could barely cause a cassualty. And even more supprising every time i performed the mg test both syrian squads would actualy make it too the US lines. (eventualy they would get close enough to the mg's that the mg's themselves would get suppresed and take cassualties)

Also, with the snipers, NOTHING i could do would just make the sniper engage targets, even at 430 meters! Target, target light and cover arcs all meant that all three men would fire at the approaching hostiles.

I also couldnt get the snipers kit to change, i tried all five "equipment" options and thier rifle stayed the same.

Now, i dont want to end on a bad note so heres three cool things i noticed. Firstly, i had a harder time keeping visual on the guys on the sand then on the grass, im guessing that the game is simulating the fact its easier to "bury" yourself in sand then soil with a crust of grass.

The second thing i noticed (which may not have been something changed in the patch but is so cool its got to be mentioned) was that at about 300 meters (in one test) one of my US guys was managing to get m203 rounds on target. Now these nades were landing realy close (within 5meteres) to the stationary part of the squad and werent hurting anyone, but during thier bound a nade landed at about 15 meters out and wounded one runner and killed his running partner :D

The third item was something that pleaseed me alot, in EVERY sniper test i conducted the snipers first kill, and in alot of cases first shot, was ALWAYS someone with a long barreled weapon, and that was usualy a machine gunner.

I was also realy impressed with how the snipers would switch targets realy quickly when loosing eyebal on the original target, very impressed tbh!

Its things like this that make the problems worth living with.
