    FAQ

The upcoming patch will not have enterable buildings. It will be added with the expansion planned for later this year. I think Battlefront said it is a free upgrade. Many gamers have requested this feature and I'm glad Battlefront/1C is dilgently listening to our requests.
  2. Those videos look more like Call of Duty than ToW. I'd like to see smoke added to ToW. Might give the infantry half a chance. Would require a smarter AI (or very micro management) for infantry to accomplish that. Thanks for the video links.
  3. Hi Gramps I bought the game based on the excellent reputation of Battlefront. As you can see from this forum they really are involved in user satisfaction. I've spent many hours playing this game. Half the time I'm frustrated with the this or that in the interface or game design. But, I have confidence that Battlefront/1C will eventually transform this game into the finest WWII RTS game on the market. I'm eagarly awaiting the patch. Have fun.

    FAQ

FoolofaTook Battlefront/1C is working on this for the upcoming patch release. Various workarounds have been posted by gamers but none seems to work consistently. Here are two suggestions... 1. Be such HOLD POSITION is NOT activated. 2. Click a very short distance behind the vehicle. When is backs up click again, a short distance behind the vehicle. Repeat. If this doesn't work then wait for the patch. That's what I'm doing. Good luck.
  5. crowbar I agree with you. I don't use 1st person view (Enter key) very often. However, this issue is mostly a matter of taste. The best games provide various interface ways to accomplish tasks so more gamers can find a method that suits them. I play a lot of RPGs and for years it seemed each game had some interface features I liked but no single game had them all. Then I played Guild Wars and was surprised at the incredible flexibility. The interface was so flexible, after playing a short while and turning on/off various options I found the game extremely user friendly. The best games provide a large number of configuable features so each gamer can customize his/her experience. IMHO games are not really realistic and to talk about a feature being realistic is mostly a matter of taste. The key to a game's emjoyment is not realism but the percieved experience. Does it allow you to use realistic tactics and still be fun is what I look for in a WWII game. And I always remind myself, it's just a game.
  6. There are no binoculars in ToW. Battlefront/1C is adding a LOS feature in the upcoming patch. We are all eagarly awaiting this enhancement. Check back to this forum occasionally to see how the comunity responds to the new feature. We expect the patch to address many of the shortfalls of the game. This game has the potential to be one of the finest WWII RTS games on the market but needs some additional work to reach its potential.
  7. Someone I certainly agree. Improved formation movement would greatly enhance gameplay. At present I have to move in small increments so my infantry doesn't get too far behind. This undermines good tactical manuevering. Don't know if this can/will be addressed but in the meantime I'll accept that this is a game and not a simulation of good militaty tactics (in spite of what it says on the back of the game box/manual: "...ultimate WW2 tactical sim". The game has so many things I do enjoy it overrides my frustration. I hope when the newness wears off I don't end up shelving the game because of the frustrations. However, Battlefront/1C seem to be serious about improving the gameplay and I'm doing my best to remain positive.
  8. I agree. The missions included in the game are not historically designed. They are still fun and I'm learning the in and outs of the game but historical accuracy will have to come from the MOD community (I hope). I do hope Battlefront/1C will make an effort to provide greater authenticity in the expansion pack they're planning for next fall. In the meantime, I must persevere!
  9. ---------- "We had hoped to include this feature but 1C said that while the game was *based* on the Il-2 code, it is NOT the IL-2 code, and a battle replayer was not possible to include." Madmatt ---------- Ohhhhhhhh! Madmatt you break my heart. One of the great features of the game is the incredible detail. I hate to miss the excitement across the battlefield because I'm busy coordinating the action somewhere else. It's not just cosmetic, it's a gameplay tool as well. Combined with mico-management (stopping the game as the action unfolds), the replay provides critical feedback for the player (replay to observe how my tank or AT gun was destroed while I was across the battlefield observing how my other tanks and AT guns were being destroyed! Ouch!). Your answer is so definitive. Battlefront has already discussed it with 1C and it's impossible. Now I'm weeping; my hopes are dashed to bits like the strike of a high explosive shell. I'm slowly dying as my hope spills out in a puddle of dispair. Uhh, well, OK, that's a little too dramatic. But may I say, "Damn! Damn! Damn!" OK, maybe that's too dramatic also. But, I'm REALLY disappointed.

    FAQ

Leger I just opened the first mission of the German campaign and found the Staff Squad listed at the bottom of the Reserves. Besure you scroll down to the bottom of the list. Here's how to find it: 1 Start the game 2 Click button: Single Player 3 Click button: Campaigns 4 Highlight German and click button: Battle Orders 5 Click button: Units 6 Reserves are in the left column, scroll to the bottom (the Staff Squd is not visible unless you scroll to the bottom of the list) NOTE: 5th unit is a sniper. Use him wisely. Have fun!
  11. SlapHappy Great answer. Another example of attention to detail. Thanks
  12. I like the fact that you don't need a disk to play the game. I don't like elicensing and un-elicensing every time I need to uninstall/reinstall the game. I currently have over twenty games installed and sometimes I have to remove a game to try a demo or load a new game. And yes, I actually play around with all the games now and then. Especially shooters (i.e. Call of Duty) where I can play a quick game or two. Also, action RPG (i.e. Titan Quest) where I can Hack & Slash when I'm in the mood. I support elicensing because of the high level of pirating that if prevelent today. In spite of the flaws in this game it's still and amazing accomplishment and the people involved deserve compensation. Fully supporting them (paying for the game and putting up with elicensing) is the only way we have a chance for the game to reach its full potential. I feel confident Battlefront will work with 1C to ensure this happens.
  13. Thanks nonickch. That's an interesting interpretation I've not considered. The lack of responses to my question suggest that most people are ignoring the boxes since it's not explained in the Field Manual (at least I've not found it). I wish one of the guys from Battlefront would respond. Moon? MaddMatt? Please!
  14. Each soldier has four boxes below his portrait. Sometimes 1 is shaded, sometimes 2 are shaded and sometimes 3 are shaded (haven't seen 4 shaded yet). I've searched through the manual and can find no reference to what they mean  . I've studied the soldier stats but I can't see any relation to the shaded boxes. Of course, at my age (57 years) it could be a problem with my tri-focal glasses  ! If you know what these boxes mean please tell me. If you know where it is explained in the manual, a page number would be nice (man, will I feel old then!). My thanks to anyone who can help. Comments on the game: Between my excitement with the incredible detail of the game and the frustration with the scenario designs and game bugs, I can't decide if I like this game or not. One minute I love it (like when I crawled a ATR soldier to the crest of a hill in the first Polish campaign battle and took out the German tank hiding just over the edge of the hill, out of sight of my artillery). Other times I have to exit the game to recover from my frustration. This game has incredible promise. I'm eagarly awaiting both the patch and the user community MODs. I understand why Battlefront is supporting this game and I have high hopes they will work diligently with 1C to transform it into its full potential (Yes, I'm a fan of the CC series. Man have I spent a lot of hours playing those games!). Enough said.
