  1. Ive seen alot of threads b!tching about LOS/LOF issues and most of them get replies like "you aren't allowing the tank to see the enemy well enough", or "try aiming at the top of the enemy". I have proven this theory wrong however, there have been so many circumstances where my tigers will ambush an enemy armor unit or arty battery from behind and while they are within full view (I can see the entire unit when in first person view) they will just sit there not firing, allowing the enemy to reposition themselves and fire taking out my tanks at point blank. This has become increasingly frustrating on the later missions of the german campaign when I have a limited number of highly capable tanks vs. a seemingly unlimited number of russian T-34s and British equivalents.
  2. I agree with most of these replies. I too have a problem with my stupid hull mounted arty turning every which way until finally taking a round to their already pitiful side armor and blowing up. Except mine do it with little or no reasoning, even though they cant see the unit (but others can) they will constantly turn towards it exposing their vital sides to others that ARE in sight. Horrrrrrrific AI. However, as one stated above, I also find it most effective to turn a tank towards an enemy, apply the "dont move" order and than engage them. This usually keeps them pointed at the right enemy. The downside to this is I find myself constantly pausing and unpausing the game to try and reconfigure my tanks just right everytime an enemy gets knocked out. In the later missions this can become frustrating considering the amount of enemies that usually find themselves appearing all over the map and usually turns a 30 minute scenario into hours of micromanaging. Oh yeah, why dont we get the option to take control of individual tanks and troops? This could be done easily enough, even with a simple A W S D configurment.
  3. Thats BS if it really took 3 heat rounds. Any heat round should be over kill for a stupid sherm.
  4. -Is this patch compatable with the US version? If not when will the US version be available? -Will this fix the god awful crashing that has forced me to stop playing ToW? -Is this going to offer a realistic chance at successfully hosting and playing multiplayer missions throughout the community? -Will this patch/add on, when released U.S., be issued via a CD as it should to its deserving ToW community? -Will there be further patches/add ons such as this one in the future?
  5. Platoon: Which ones do you mean? At the end in that city? Heres another video, massive column of modern german mobile armor moving through the country. Many leopards
  6. Ah ok, I was just commenting on the fact that I knew the Kellys Heroes tank was a mock up T-34. I was sad when I learned this too because it looked so puuurfect in the movie.
  7. Maybe an actual server hosted by C1 or whoever to play MP would be the right choice to make, instead of relying on co-workers and neighbors to have it.
  8. From my favorite mission so far, Kovel. Commander of a tiger I, shelled the onslaught of russian T34's allowing the rest of the reinforcements to get into position and hold off the attack. They were hit by a shell disabling the tank and killing the driver but these crewman hiked through the forest back to friendly trenches where they stayed protected for the remainder of the mission...
  9. Yes. The multiplayer works but only two or three of the whopping eight missions that the dev's provided work. The rest CTD or lock up with "not responding", hence my first post. As it stands they were fools to release such a beta multiplayer at full retail price of $45 ($63 for me I bought the game case which hasnt been delivered might I add).
  10. I dont really hate it but what were they thinking adding multiplayer which crashes 99% of the time.
  11. Yeah I was just logging on to post a thread about the same thing! Happy to know its not just me. Cant wait for the print manual but when I ordered the game it said nothing about a late ship date. WTF
  12. I created a test mission for MP using the walk through read me step by step. But when I went to multiplayer I couldnt find the mission. Whats up with these missions not appearing?
  13. Thats your fault for having a buggy game not our fault for having Nvidia's. They are stable cards, never will I go back to a Radeon. Issue a patch for christ sakes.
  14. I love this game guys, dont get me wrong but this thing crashes like a SOB. Anyone else getting CTD's, especially when in the game menus (looking at soldiers stats, assigning skills). I sure hope the patch fixes this crap.
  15. Couple rough edges but pretty good video overall. I like to see things from a different side once in awhile and Poland is one of those battles you dont hear much about.
  16. Which video are you talking about? I knew the tank in Kelleys Heroes was a T-34 mock up but didnt know it was still around.
  17. Some more clips I found. The first one is of a really good reenactment with a Kfz 251 and PaK 40's. Audio is very delayed however. (A good documentary of French tanks) (Unrelated. Halarious) (Cough cough)
  18. Tiger tanks, Jagdpanzers, king's everything... Took me awhile to fish them all off the net so please enjoy! Turn your speakers up and listen to the rumble of WWII muscle. (Very good walk through of a tiger) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDTtBEdKVqI&mode=related&search= (A Finnish T-26!!!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nlboCGdR1k&mode=related&search= (Must watch) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFeGIm65Pe0 (M4A1 "Spit Oil") (Another M4A1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9xB3xIK9k4&mode=related&search= (Panther baby) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i129YSCL8zs&mode=related&search= (Unrelated, T-34 going crazy in Hungarian riot) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUbZDhgF8kg
  19. Chern Station is the first Axis vs. Russian battle right? Cake walk. Nice story though, but how did you loose six tanks to a t34?
  20. I thought I was going crazy, but yeah my ATR squads in my german campaign have no AT rifles that I can see. The only difference is a lower rank commander with a grease gun and +10 points to get it.
  21. Of course fixing everything on a damaged tank in battle would be unrealistic, but a tread fix would be possible "behind the lines". What I mean by this is the supply trucks that get sent with reinforcements could easily have an engineer that would be able to fix or attend to a broken tread or the damaged hull of a tank. I have had many situations where the tanks are disabled at the very beginning of the map and the fighting is several miles ahead of it by the time reinforcements arrive. Maybe not the best time but deffinately doable by a repair team. It comes back to the point about tank crews being absolutely retarded when it comes to common sense situations. Letting the controls go if the gunner or driver become incapasitated and sitting there like idiots is NOT realistic. Even if their skill at gunning or driving had a major negative modifier added would be better than nothing. I am a pilot in real life and if the captain of a 737 were to pass out at the controls the co-pilot isnt going to just sit there and let the plane crash, he would take the controls. Same principal applies with these tank crews. My .02 cents
  22. I never played CM so I guess I cannot compare but am familiar with RTS games of the era and must admit TOW is a relief to play. I have been holding out on buying games such as company of heroes because they are just too damn arcadish. Finally I can play a realistic (maybe flawed) game that allows things that really matter, such as crew and skill management. If this makes me a fanboy than so be it.
  23. I wish (wonder) there was a way to change the load outs of tanks before battle. Even if it ment having only 20 HEAT shells vs. 4 HEAT shells and 40 HE for example.
  24. Whats the best way to promote the crews and squads so that it will best benefit you in missions to come? I've noticed that individuals all have their own leadership rating regardless of rank, so in other words a low ranking soldier with a high leadership rank might make a fine commander some day, if he survives long enough. The Iron cross also bumps up leadership but I think it should increase skill too, theres no point in awarding an infantry grunt who killed 10 infantry in a mission with the Iron Cross if all its going to do in benefit his leadership. This takes some of the role play out of the game for me and should be fixed with the patch. On a similar note, how is everyone promoting rank/skills of their tank crews? It seems to me that two crewmen generally start out with skill sets (gunner, driver and commander if applicable), the other 2 crewmen are useless and are essentially infantry grunts with tank uniforms and no guns (which makes them increasingly useless). What I've been doing in my german campaign is taking the same tank crews into battle to build skill sets that benefit the whole, for example awarding Iron Crosses and lots of rank to commanders to build up leadership, and racking the gunnery and driver skills up on the rest of the crew. This way if one crewman dies, another will be able to take over (because we're all sick of watching the gunner die in our PzIV's and instead of someone taking the controls the tank spins in circles dumbfounded or goes armageddon and charges the enemy trenches killing itself). Couple questions in relation to crews: -The scouting skill, does this only benefit the commander? What if there is both a commander and a gunner? Will it benefit both? Machine gunner, driver? I would think it would help all of them. -Same as above except for infantry squads, does this benefit the whole or only the squad leaders? -Gunnery skill is to tank guns as marksmenship is to machineguns and rifles, right? How can you build up marksmenship? It should really be an option for rewarding your infantry squads after a battle, I can only put so much "scouting" skill into them and whats the point of having gunner and driver unless they haphazzardly stumble upon a tank thats worth a go. -How do you get special infantry such as snipers and panzershreks (bazookas)? -Whats the point of ATR squads? -Some of the infantry carry mausers (rifles) but have drum ammo in their invantory? Is this to replenish the MG-34 soldier? -Lastly more of an opinion. The PzIV's are great tanks in this game but seriously lack on armor ratings especially for front and treads. Usually my PzIV's will only get half way through the map before getting disabled and crew panicking, but my 35's and 38's go FOREVER. Also there should be an option for tank and equipment repair on sight (or is there and I'm just missing it?) More questions to come and thanks in advance!
