  1. Thanks for the reply but it sounds like you missed my question. Your answer seems to be describing the tutorial "campaign", the manual implies (to my mind, weak as it is) in the paragraph before they launch into an explanation of the campaign tutorial, that there is a "single battle" one should play? Am I wrong? EDIT: I guess the answer to my last question is YES. I must be trying to read something into manual text that was not intended!
  2. Okay, I know there is a Tutorial Campaign, nicely identified. However, I get the impression in reading the manual that there is a Battle, that is designed as a Tutorial, but no where do I see it identified. Can someone enlighten me?
  3. Some of the folks I normally play with are "Eastern Front" only types. I finally decided that is was because playing either side it was Bad Guys vs. Bad Guys, so either way you Win! My own feeling is like and early post here, it's the game mechanics that's important.
  4. EoS is very similar (though potentially better, IMHO) to the game ADVANCED TACTICS of WORLD WAR II. Since that latter game has PBEM, I fail to see why EoS cannot. I can think of half a dozens sales to start if you add PBEM.
  5. The closest game to EOS presently on the market (IMHO) is Advanced Tactics of World War II, available from Matrix. What EOS brings to the table, and makes it the better game (again IMHO) is the Resources. The need for them, both to "find" and to "protect" and to "use" for building up your cities and/or war efforts.

    Pbem

I understand you are NOT providing PBEM for this game. I think you are really missing the boat (translation: missing a lot of sales) by not doing so. The very nature of the game begs for PBEM ability. MOST TURN-BASED wargames on the market provide for PBEM. Maybe you can't have it by original release, but I do hope you consider it for sometime. Meanwhile, it still makes a good solo game.
  7. Okay, I didn't realize that "neutral" cities were excluded. That could help. Of course, I've been playing for awhile now in a solo game and haven't even found the AI guy! Glad you will consider the suggestion for future patch.
  8. and a day! Especially on a large map. I would at least like to see some options, such as setting a time limit (number of turns) then evaluting "degree of victory", like some games have. It could be based on the relative percent of cities controlled.
  9. I didn't see anything in the manual defining how victory is achieved? Is the only way the total elimination of the opposing forces? Could we not have some variable victory goals, such as amount of resources garnered, cities controlled, etc. etc. Perhaps even a "time limit" such as nnn turns and then a score given based on cities/resources etc.?
  10. That it would be a very good idea for you to include a feature that would allow you to set up AI teams. If not by "game time", perhaps in the inevitable "first patch"?
  11. Please add the ability to use a Mouse wheel to zoom the map in and out. Some of us with poorer eyes need all the help we can get! I went through the tutorial with no issues. This is looking very nice.

    Any news?

The AAR, the Review, etc. make it "seem" like this game is ready to go. However, it obviously isn't or you would release it (show me the money). Do you have any estimates of when?
  13. My friend and I just started our 2nd PBEM game. He sent me the initial file, all I was allowed to do was select a "new password" and return the file to him. He did whatever and sent back to me. Again, all I was able to do was enter a "new password", which of course I used the same one. E-mailed back to him. This time on his return file, I was FINALLY given the Scenario description and allowed to do a "set-up." Moral of story: Just keep plugging away, it comes.
  14. Eventually the game gets underway, it just seems real strange that you need about three "e-mails" before you can setup and go. Once it gets going though, it is faster.
  15. LOL. I know I could of just hit the surender button a little earlier ...
  16. Was doing a PBEM game with a friend. All of my forces became casualties with about 7 or 8 minutes left in the game. Yet the game did not end. Why is that?
  17. It is the Al Huqf Engagement. Okay, I guess I just send the file back to my opponent and wait ...! Thanks for that. We will see what happens next.
  18. Okay, I did find where VISTA hides the incoming/outgoing files for this game. However, I still can't figure out HOW TO PLAY. I sent my opponent an initial file from my "out" box. Received his back and put it in the "in" box. Started the game. Only choice seemed to be Load Saved Game, so did that, it asked me for a new password, which I gave, and THAT WAS ALL. Couldn't get into the game to move, or see any type of replay, etc. Can someone please enlighten me on how this system is supposed to work?
  19. I guess by default I am logging on to my User account, though I don't know why it wouldn't be the Administrator (I am the only one who uses this computer, at all!). However, it seems the simplist solution is setting up a "shortcut" to that weird places Vista wants to tuck the files. Thanks for that suggestion.
  20. Could you clarify that statement. Is that something you did when installing CMSF? How?
  21. That was my problem! Thanks for the help, have now found the illusive files, and should be able to get on with the game (hopefully). I would guess when I "receive" a file from my opponent, I stick it that same location (except incoming not outgoing) and then when I start the game turn it will show up in the LOAD game screen. Thanks again.
  22. Thanks for this suggestion I will see what I might find.
  23. But I am not getting this: Can some one give a like step by step? After doing the preliminary through password then what? If I go to LOAD game, I can see a file, I can do something with it, like Setup/First Turn, press "red" button, watch play out. Now what? I can "save", it gives me a file (seen in the LOAD screen) but I can not find that file in ANY of the game folders??? Certainly not in the obvious one that says something about email's (there are actually two as you know one for out one for in. Those folders are EMPTY.
  24. There is nothing in any of those folders. I think the problem I'm having is deeper (or simpler?) than that. I never get into the game? Not able to do a setup or take a turn or anything. If I want to play a single player game then it works just fine. But when I tell it up front that the game is to be 2 player by e-mail ...???
