  1. First just a quick note of appreciation for the new patch - well done Battlefront! One thing I've not been able to locate so far - is there (or is anyone making?) a database listing the in-game point value of each unit? Particularly when using the Quick battle generator I'd like to be able to balance forces better for a fairer MP game. My favourite system was always the old CM2BB style set-up screen where players where allowed to allocate a certain number of points to amrour/inf/arty etc. Any think that such a system could be devised by a third party editor which might add additional units automatically to a QBG file (ie not worried about unit placement within the set-up zone, just to add the extra hardware). As a intrimn measure I'd like just to be able pick a force balance from a database - and I can't see the info anywhere in the in-game encylopedia/manuals. ta to anyone who can help...
  2. Erm... yeah, that's kinda the problem mate- on my options screen these IS NO option for screen res. ,,,, where is it? Is this a problem with the Paradox version? Help..
  3. Am seeing alot of people on these forums saying 'i'm oplaying at XXXX x XXXX screen resolution - thing is I haven't got the option to select this anywhere in game. Where can I change my resolution please? uk paradox version Using a 3.2 g iNTEL P4 dual core Nvidia 7950 GTX2 (on 162's) 2 G's ram one thing I noticed that I couldn't believe was legal- the Paradox version doesn't even state anywhere on the box or in the manual what the min/rec specs for the game are.... ! Have to say I'm dissapointed with what I see so far FPS wise & I'm running a good system - graphically the game looks just like the old CM:BB (my fave, but come on, it's 5 years ago..)- where's all that power/ram going to? Any help appreciated.
  4. My favourite bit of CM seems to have gone too (unless I've missed something blindingly obvious) - in multiplayer is there any way to 'buy' your own force set up? I loved this feature in CM - made the game so much more random & unpredicatable against a felklow human - not knowing what the other side was bringing in to bat made the MP tension so much more enjoyable. is there any way this can be implemented in ToW? Can't even keep the secretary element by using the editor to produce a custom set-up each time.....
  5. thank you jesus, moon & matt ... only 5 hours to go, but it's all pay day from now in... Just in time too - my refresh finger is a tad bruised
  6. Many thanks for the information & its honesty. I look forward to the email & wish you the best of luck with the release. damn, will have to get myself a new signature now
  7. Elvis - you could yet challenge Gordon Brown for the next PM with ideas like that ($45 a month?, that's like 8 pints mate!)(though i suspect peole won't read a 90+ page of voting instructions as closely as a manual for this game...... I'm an old CM (mark 1) hand myself, and have enjoyed all of the series - I just prefer to withhold the right to complain (but I do try to spare the whip (Rune seems to like it though, even the self=application variety.. ) Best of British etc & look forward to seeing you online/ingame the Snipe
  8. just gone the 19th here - shame Rumpole of the Bailley (http://www.tvheaven.ca/rumpole.htm) isn't availible for my 'imminent legal action' - BUGGER, 'Arwf to bed with you' says my missus..... nite all & enjoy the 'American' release , the rest of the free world will have to queue in line like normal... the Snipe
  9. "And I understand what you mean about voters but that isn't a good example because voters didn't give the polls $45 for the right to vote and then not show up. " - lol try living in the new 'Uber Tax' UK and then saying people havn't paid to vote. $45 isn't even ball park when people are looking to cream 40% of your total earnings - for the average voter, he/she's paying nearly $14,000 per anunum for the 'right not to vote' (and they have the cheek to suggest that non voters might even be fined for not exercising their 'democratic obligation' to vote... Take your point about being quoted out of context .. noted & gracefully withdrawn. Happens to us all... All that aside, surely even loyal fans would be rewarded by a simple 'sticky' explaining when downloads might reasonable be expected to start? I've a good deal of patience - for 5 years I've waited for what was 'Wartime Command': and I've a healthy degree of admiration for BF for picking up something that Codemasters didn't feel competent enough to commision final publication for . . . however i still consider that a simple act of delcaration (and re-vised) of date will avoid all the unnesscary "right(s) to make outrageous claims" if not quite love, then repsect, The Snipe [ April 18, 2007, 07:24 PM: Message edited by: guttersnipe ]
  10. "I would be willing to bet that much more than 90% of the people who preordered do understand and are not complaining. I would even go so far as to say that over 99% understand and are not complaining. " substansiate your figures before contesting other peoples... ""point of law" "binding contract" silliness" - these are merely sympthomatic reactions to the lack of respect some customers have felt by not having their points dealt with rationaly, and openly, by representives of the BF company - no matter how often you voice your personal disdain for them, they are still entitled to use these forums to raise/vent their reactions. Blow off some steam, that's what a good forum is for, not stifling all arguement with prodigious superlatives (So do yourself and the other 99% of us a favor and just go pay the demo for while) FYI - just as an example, when the UK has an election, representation rarely stretches beyond 55-60% - ie nearly 40% of the population don't vote because they are too apathetic to be bothered - but asked at a personal level, nearly '90 %' said that they appreciated the intrinsc value of the other sides policies. Not totally confident that the USA isn't any different; but if you can convince me that 10 out of 'all the people', who made that effort to register their grievances, is only representive of 1% of all the people that pre-ordered and were dissapointed by the fashion of the 'release' (still waiting) I'll believe you at face value...
  11. Speaking from my little motorcyle & sidecar shaped part of the old world ... there's no such thing as 'taking it like a man' (hey men give it out, not take it), and if there are any little girls crying it tends to lift our high moral hearts to their defense, rather than ridicule.... Each to his own sport I guess...
  12. `only if we're in scotland, playing under gentleman's rules, pistols or swords only, and only if we're not up against David Landale (http://www.amazon.com/Last-Duel-Story-Death-Honour/dp/1841958255) . then i'll second you...
  13. "I'd be surprised if they were modded in. Mostly because the PIAT is already in." Silly me - there must be a pic in the small arms gallery... oh no, wait! there isn't... hard to tell without the full release, unless you're a beta tester...lucky s*d
  14. i was afraid you might say that. laundery service only from now on.... death to boxer shorts (or 'fertilty pants' as they're known in the old world)(if your wife asks for them: you've been out-manouved & out gunned, you're having kids soon...)
  15. The 'Question'/point of law/opportunity for a standing ovation is: what colour were Noddy's socks? erm, no, try again: At what date, as advertised in the pre-order page, will pre-order customers be able to download their purchase? Clarity, not just a name of a very fine, and drinkable Australian Shiraz...
  16. Wedgie patrol ?! now I AM worried : is there a problem with the infantry formation button in-game that is only coming to light now? (or should I be breaking the glass on the only pair of spare underwear my wife has ever ironed for me? (wouldn't volunteer myself for that one)
  17. Honest opinion : I like it. Have to admit it I find the camera controls a bit unwieldy & as previously stated think I might be missing out on some of the better graphical moments because the camera is jinking away (at last I understand why the pre-pub-ed videos were always jumping away from the action (I had thought the cameraman was having a fit). Would love to see multiple waypoints enabled. Also be delighted to see the first mod with a British PIAT implemented. Anysways .... back to my demo..
  18. hartmn - i want Spartan on my old world side for the 4 on 4 - he understands history as I was taught it (never minded history classes, but why did they teach us Latin?, not like the Romans were likely to ever get to beautiful Greenwich again was it?)
  19. be my pleasure to oblige hartmn, soon as the game is out! the old world will never forget how the new world saved it's ass in ww2 (aside from the ruskies who saved all our bacon). just remember, we saved yours in ww3 (oh, wait that hasn't happened yet )
  20. "Silly me making someone stay up to 4:30 [altho we have all been doing that for months] for the retail download which I never mentioned in the DEMO thread." sure get the whipping post out if you're into self-flagellation, but don't imply you made me stay up late - i'm a big boy & make my own bedtimes, as well as being able to read. I was stung by the fact that whilst the demo was being heralded by a fanfare, no-one had been able to stand up & say 'Not tonight Josephine'. Still, I get that you're strung out & tired...
  21. I've a 2 yr old Pentium D 3.2 which runs like silk without switching to single core - from what I remember it doesn't do hyper-threading - think Redwolf has the right line on this one.
  22. oh what the hell, I'm sorry for the trouble to all BF customers too. if only my old world money, wasn't worth twice the new world stuff, and us old worlders hadn't been so silly with our Greenwich Mean Time, maybe we'd all be enjoying the release together..... anyways, back to my demo..
  23. "it is after all them who are making the game not you, so they can release when they want to" Yep, fair point, except that 'it's us that's paying for them to make the game' Business & customer I think the relationship is called: ie it's ok/a consumer right to complain, just as long as it's not a personal attack on one of the team's character (that cowbell thing went way too far in my opinion )
  24. well, that just about sums it up - the communications strategy in a nutshell: let other people apologise for you. ('no offense', the old world)
  25. Dissapointed with the lack of pre-order downloads like so many others here - certainly not be in any hurry to pre-order from Battlefront again - sorry, but there it is, too much credit simply burnt up by not having a clear & upfront communications policy. (so & so says in this thread that maybe, and if you could only read german the man says that etc. All we needed was a date for the pre-order as promised, and when it became blindingly obvious that that date was unassailiable, then a clearly stated revised date for BOTH pre-order & full release.(I notice they're still taking pre-orders with the same message of 'download early/date to be announced later')(com'on, at least edit that one paragrapgh!) I guess what stung me most was, having waited up till nearly 04.30 GMT in the hope that the deal would be fufilled at least for the American contigent, that Rune et al made such a fuss over releasing the demo ('John has a big moustache etc' - fine & well but leave the hype for the full release - if you have any faith in it. Oh well 'over tired' (though not over-whelmed). I'll wind up with a quick question: from what I've gathered the game is already 'gold' & in the press processes for dispatch. Alot of people are giving credit to Battlefront for holding off on the digital realease to counter various last minute software bugs .... my question : does this mean that the retail version as shipped (ie more than likely already burnt to thousands of disks) will be fatally flawed? ie will it require a visit to patch heaven immediately we get it? If so - why delay the digital release, ALL of the copies will need patched anyway? Ho hum , back to the demo (I cracked and had to d/l it anyway) ... rather ejoying it!
