  1. While I still probably won't' upgrade (maybe, $10 isn't a lot of money) until I personally see some additional benefits to upgrade, I've always appreciated BFs up front, no bullsh!t replies. I like BF, just a little disappointed.
  2. I guess every vintage video of troops from all sides riding on tanks was completely fabricated, LoL. Not even including quotes from infantry vets saying, "We saw the Tiger, and before we could jump off, etc." It may not have been doctrine, but as a prior service Ranger, I know at the platoon or squad level, a ride to anywhere would be greatly appreciated. I love BF, bought EVERY CM game/upgrade from CM1 on (except Afghanistan). But I'm definitely not impressed with the 3.0 upgrade release decisions, and very disappointed. And then to pay for the upgrade twice for FI AND BN? Not to mention, I'm sure flame throwers and tank riders will be another upgrade we'll have to pay for down the line. It's a rip that I can't support or defend. (Maybe "defend" is a little harsh) but I think I'll be passing this upgrade up until there's more content.
  3. I would think you all know about the movie "Fury," due out this November. But if not, check out the trailer. First movie about WW2 Armored warfare in decades.
  4. It's been a couple of months, but the new video inspired me to figure out what was wrong with my login, and post what happened. So I upgraded CMBN to 2.0, and the next day when I fired it up, the unit names were all wrong, for example where there was a Bren carrier, it was renamed ISU122, and no T34s, but the squad unit types were all displayed as Soviet something or another, with Soviet weapon icons (although the in game units were still British). In fact, the first odd thing I noticed were the squad names seeming to be Soviet. I first assumed that the install got corrupted with Afghanistan (which I don't own) or one of the Shock Forces I had installed. That was, until I saw the ISU122.

  6. To quote Yoda, "Obi Wan, there is another......"
  7. I'm thinking Friday or Monday, but my fingers are crossed for Friday.
  8. Well, I think if one particular thread got over 142,000 hits, BFC must be doing something right. Figure 1/3 are the same people logging in on different computers, that leaves almost 100,000 people. Not too bad, maybe?
  9. BTW, I knew I was sold when a T34 crew threw a track (extremely nice animation on that!). After a bit when, when they weren't under fire anymore, a crewman jumped out with a sledgehammer and started repairing the track! He was killed in a spray of blood , but Damn!
  10. After doing some research the last few days, I think I'll be awainting Panzer Command: Ostfront (almost) as much as CM:BN. I think i played the demo of the first one, and was not that impressed when comparing it to CMX1. But the 3rd iteration looks to be quite impressive, maybe a "CMX 1.5" quality.
  11. Not tryiing to take the glory of CB:BN (I preordered the first day!), but this isn't a bad game at all. Last year was a hard year for my family, and I guess this one, as well as Panzaer Command Kharkov musta slipped under my radar. Can't comment on PCK (which looks interesting), but Achtung Panzer - Kharkov 1943 is pretty cool. Not specifically better than the CMX1 series, as they both have good and bad qualities, but if your looking for Eastern Front action, I would say that it's a very viable alternative to CMBB, which I love, BTW. And may last you well into the Eastern Front module for CM2. The graphics are leaps and bounds, as would be expected, above the original CMX1 engine, and it is pretty competetive even to CM:SF. Nowhere near the content of the CMX1 or CMX2 engines, but cool, nonetheless. I think the AI may be smarter than CMX1. MY personal gripe is: if you've been playing Combat Mission for the last 10 years like I have, the view & movement controls are, at the best, bewildering. I may get used to it, but I doubt it - CM:BN will be out soon! I only bought it ($19.99) as a distraction from checking here every 2 hours!
