  1. Having proper room clearing techniques implemented or at least taking them into account when calculating the results of CQB battles would be a great step towards realism.

At the moment it seems the US forces have no tactical advantage over any type of Syrian forces in head on engagements in MOUT environments. But since the Stryker units are specially trained for urban combat this should be reflected in the game play somehow.

  2. Hej,

been playing CMSF for a couple of months now. I'm one of those people who refuses to spent hundreds of euro on an up-to-date pc just to enjoy the fancy new improvements on some game.

The notebook I use currently I bought in January 2005 with components who probably came out in 2004. So it's pretty old. But I could play CMSF on it. During intense firefights there of course was fps drops sometime, but generally performance was acceptable. And I love the game for that.

But the new v1.07 patch messed the whole game up for me. After updating my graphic card drivers I get some weird graphical error when ever I start CMSF (doesn't happen with other games). In the menu everything is fine again. When trying to play the game sometimes I get CTD when only clicking on a unit. Even with the ATI click thingie turned on, I still get the same CTD. Sometimes after 30secs sometimes after 5mins. In addition to that performance is much worse. Even with everything on 'fastest' the performance during the setup phase the game is like what I experienced with prev-1.07 during heavy firefights. So basically unplayable.

I understand you guys have to make the game look nice to compete with all the fancy graphics of new games. But that's pretty much the death sentence for people wiht older systems (and I'm sure there were a few like me playing CMSF)

  3. Is it possible to edit the models of the game to or at least import own models?

Been doing Addon Editing for OFP the last six years and would really like to do some stuff for CM:SF. CMx2 is a great engine with lots of potential.

Think for example of a mod adding Israeli and Arabic units, would even fit in nicely with the SF map style.

  4. The only game I played continously during the last couple of years was Operation Flashpoint, partly because of it's editing capabilities. The game is actually the reason why I learned how to do 3d-modells, textures and config/script-stuff.

How editable will the Theatre of War engine be?. Will it be easy to change and add modells. How much of the game is hardcoded? Is there a chance the developpers may release tools to import and export game files?

  5. Hi,

I'm new to the forum and just wondering if I'll even be able to play this game on my system.

    My specs:

    Pentium-M 745 1.8Ghz

    1024MB RAM

    Mobility Radeon 9700 256MB

I now it's not much for today's standards. I can barely run Armed Assault with more than 15 fps.
