  1. I wonder what the developers are thinking right now.
  2. Wow Blaine you are a godsend. This game is lame out of the box, I'm fighting to want to love it, but some things just don't work the way they should. If you think the AI is BS, then you are 100% that they need to focus on MP. I touched on some ideas to make the MP interface more easily accessable, but I can't make any suggestions for behind the scenes code that I have no clue about. I think my ideas were more work then BF intended to do for a simple patch, but I would like to see what BF roadmap and patch fixes list look like... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=63;t=000762
  3. The mission where you have to defend against a tank rush to your bunker, my AT crew die's all the time and I lose the mission. I tried placing them in every position before the match started and that makes no difference. It's funny, when that mission starts, I run everybody to the back bunker that seperates the two AT guns and after they get de-crewed, I have more troops to recrew the guns. But the only people with high gun skills are the original men that are on the gun. With a game this complex and where your entire mission is riding on one or two units. If there's any gameplay issues that cause you to lose, or makes those units ineffective for any reason, I just start cursing at the screen and bang my fists on the desk.
  4. I'm gonna sell my copy on ebay too, it's gonna be fun because you'll have to give bullet points on what's so great about the game, when typing the page, but most of what I type will be exactly the opposite of how I feel. The game is just too boring. When SF comes out, I'll be sure to test the demo before I buy, and If they try and trick me again by saying there won't be a demo, I won't get the game.
  5. Multiplayer still has the 'enter ip address of host to play multiplayer' system. I want TOW to be more exciting! Playing real people online who talk smack during the game should do it. In 3 months from now, I'll get bored of the same old single player, just like it did in Combat Missions. I don't want that to happen with this game, it's just so much more advanced than CM and deserves to stay on my hard drive for more than 3 months! What you see after clicking that multiplayer button: 1) A news page where BF developers can keep you up-to-date on the latest developments, major bug fixes, patches, big announcements, etc. 2) An email button - to check your battlefront email. This is how you will play-by-email and by being able to read your email, inside of the game, you won't get distracted trying to use outlook with TOW. You simply look in your unread mail inbox and double click on that email from your opponent, which loads the game fast, you find what your opponents latest move was, then you can do your move, and click the send email button to finish - simple. 3) A Chat Room button - I have no clue what will go on in this room, but I hope it will stay game related and it makes it much easier for players to organize games, discuss tactics, strategies, and anything else that is legal. 4) A Game Browser button - Lists all the 'in progress games', and all players that are waiting for someone to join their game. You simply double click on a game to play. No pencil and paper required to write down IP addresses. No reading books to find out what an IP address means and what IP stands for. 5) Recorded Games button - You can replay all the 'play-by-email' games in their entirety. You can even load up the latest match between the top USA and top German player using the advanced search feature. I think this is the best way to improve your tactics & strategies, to learn from others. The next step is to review the recorded games in the forums and go over what the player did right or wrong and how you would've played it differently. 6) Rankings button - With no ratings system built into the game, you have no idea who you are playing and what their skill is, until you mop the floor with them. A simple ELO ratings system, like the one used in Chess, would work just fine. Without ratings, there is no point to play multiplayer, unless it's for fun and you are not trying to become a better player. Ratings are the only way to become a better player because they keep you focused. TOW is one of the most advanced war simulations on the planet and without a ratings system, multiplayer games will never be considered 'competitive', but rather 'a fun thing to do' ---------------------------------- Those additions will keep the replay value WAY up on this game, and when TOW 2 is released, I would be very excited about TOW 2 and would nag all my friends to buy the game when it comes out. Let me know what you think. [ April 22, 2007, 06:42 PM: Message edited by: WooTzu ]
  6. Scratch my post above. The prince comes through for me and answers my prayers. I vote Eckmuhl king of BF !!! Honestly, all I can relate to you is my own experience. I pre-ordered the game, and received a confirmation of purchase email that included the download link. When I visited the forum this evening and learned that downloads had begun, I went to my email client and clicked on that link. It took me straight to the download page where I provided my proof-of-purchase code. I was then able to download the game. PoE </font>
  7. Sigh. I got CM:AK and CM:BB, BF makes great war simulations. I don't doubt TOW will be great also. Keep hope alive!!! But I'm disapointed. Not for the delay, but the fact that I had to read this bs thread to find out what's causing the delay and what the ETA for release is and I still can't find an answer. Please post something on the news page before midnight tonight. Thanks.

  12. No problem, I just want to play the dam game. I'm too excited, it's way above and beyond combat missions. But the videos are pretty lame, I know that it's all we got, but it'd be nice if we had a demo that was released sometime in March to wet our appetites and eliminate buyers remorse. Ok, I'll quit complaining. I'm glad the game is finally taken out of beta stages after, what was it, 4 years and 3 name changes later? I'M SO HAPPY YOU WILL BE SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY! Not many companies care and just hope communities build themselves... But you beta testers, you guys suck. I don't care if you been playing for 4 friggin years, I'm gonna mop up the floor with ya'll in multiplayer !!!
  13. For people who have pre-ordered the game, can we please have access to the beta forums? Probably not much there as far as content goes, but we can get some more insight on how the game operates more Plus I'm sure that there are some 'tactical' tips in that forum as well that will help us hit the ground running. Please voice your questions or concerns. Thanks.
  14. Stop it already! Man! It's like dangling a carrot in front of the rabbit, sooner or later the rabbit will get too hungry and chew its arm off. My new computer should be ready this weekend. I'll be willing to wait in line to do whatever rune asks of me, I'm tired of waiting.
  15. WOW!!! This game looks amazing even from a low-res YouTube video! The people that own the russian version and the beta testers are some of the luckiest sons of beaches.
