  1. Glad to see this is still around out there and being updated. I just got tired of constantly having to update it for all the games myself, and dealing with the constant complaints from guys saying their text was screwy when it says MUST be updated with each patch. Have fun!
  2. Very polished and well presented Free Whiskey! I'll have to go over to youtube to thumbs up you. Agree, the WIND is most important thing to check with a smoke mission. Also, I've seen WP actually be effective against Tigers if they get hit with it. My favorite mission to run in an HvH is the harassment mission at max duration. In this way you can keep shifting it for a long time instead of having to recall from scratch, plus it keeps the pucker uncertainty factor up for along time to keep em guessing. Use to keep nervous from occupying key ground for a long time.
  3. Yes, made it for CMBN years ago. It's so long ago I would have to hook up my old PC to get it to work on. It's made for HvH, and basically the skull forms a ridge line across the map.
  4. I need to brush this "Death's Head" map off that I made ages ago . It's like playing inside of a surreal painting
  5. Agree with Bulletpoint. When vehicles turn on their own without having a spot on something it usually means they have been given FOW contact info through the C2 chain, and are reacting to that. From the video the tank looks like it had info the enemy tank was coming around on its flank, and it was reacting to that.
  6. Personally, I prefer smaller more thoughtful unit scenarios of a company size or less rather than the larger ones. The platoon size ones are fun to take advantage of the small size sometimes to do a straight up real time game with no pausing which plays much differently than WEGO, but still play most of. Unlike other RTS games CM can still be a challenge to stay on top of playing that way with just that size, but it's fun to change it up now and then. The great thing is the series just has so much content of variety anyone should be able to find something that is to their different taste. For learning the game I still think CMFI is the most forgiving as an introduction to CM, but as the others say once your hooked you will want to have all the games. Even though they all share the same engine they all have a certain feel to each of them. Also, once your hooked I warn you will likely end up a lifer like so many here. Been playing pretty much nothing but CM going on almost 20yrs now. I try other game but.....
  7. Also, if you are new I HIGHLY recommend you watch Usually Hapless's Combat Mission Basics series on youtube. Hap does a great job explaining things in an easy to follow manner. Start here -
  8. My advice is Italy - CMFI. It has good variety of terrain, and is easier than hedgerow fighting for a noob as in CMBN. It runs the smoothest graphically IMO too. I think the Soviets of CMRT are a bit harder for new player to get the hang of compared to western forces. Haven't played much CMFB since testing it way back, but terrain and units may be a bit less forgiving than CMFI. Would recommend any WW2 for noob over any modern warfare title like CMCW or more recent time frame. Modern is deadlier, and less forgiving than WW2 combat. Great thing about Battlefront is there is a FREE demo of each game one can try before they buy. I highly recommend any new player try a demo so they understand they are not buying Men of War or any other more "gamey" type game. CM is the real deal that takes some time to understand the depth of it, and how to master it.
  9. Word to the wise as I've already seen comments recommending. No matter where you are, especially in a NATO country if you've not done any prepping for a cyber attack that takes down power grids you need to get to it. If youv'e not already exercised your 2nd amendment right I suggest that too. All these world leaders are controlled by bankers, and mega corporations. If you do not know who Klaus Schwab, head of The World Economic Forum, the Bilderberg Group, and Davos Group, is then it is in your interest to investigate who he is. In his arrogance he openly brags of infiltrating half of the cabinets of the world, including Canada's to name just one. You may not know of his connection to the pandemic in his book "Covid 19, and The Great Reset",and his round table war gaming of the pandemic 5 MONTHS before hand in Oct. 2019 along with The Gates Foundation which they called "Event 201". You can investigate these things for yourself https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaus_Schwab - Capture of democratic structures and institutions He is now openly bragging of the possibility of a cyber attack on the power grid as a next phase of their "Great Reset". This war is convenient in the wanting to facilitate that desire. I normally do not get into these things on the forum, but I think this is important enough to post to inform especially if you have never heard of Klaus Schwab, The World Economic Forum, and the term "The Great Reset". Oh, and you may want to learn of his relationship with Putin. Prep and you will be wise. Seek and you shall find .... 10. Too hot, and a very sad day because it is the kind of heat the average person no matter where they are doesn't want. Although I know this world event is not the type of thing Battlefront would want to gain interest in CMBS, but the only good thing hot to come out of this is I see is the title getting more notice if not only for the irony of it. Prayers and wishing a quick peace to all the Russians and Ukrainians on this forum and in those countries. This is madness!
  11. Rest in peace Micheal. I'm glad some of the guys here cared enough to investigate your fate, and am sad to see you gone. You were a good fella!
  12. What?, I understood every word . Oh crap yoouu George! Now I'm craving haggis, and dars only wee crap canned haggis in the USA!
  13. Here is my latest set for CMRT shown in Veteran so you can see both sides HQ icons available. If you are familiar with my other sets it uses distinctive geometric shapes for different units same as the others. The set updates from a previous set I did long ago with my latest refinements. It includes a choice or green (default) or blue set for Allies, and a red set for Axis. To change go into "spotted" folder and cut "z" off green and add it to front of blue icons folder instead. The FOW icons are grey(Germans), and Khaki (default), or Olive(Soviets) The HQ Icons default are a red star on green(Soviets), and German cross on red (Ger). See pic. There are other HQ variants for Soviets to choose from like Hammer and Sickle ect... (see pic below) You can also use the vanilla black HQ flag too. To change HQ icon to use if you want go into the HQ icon folder and cut the "z" at the front of one folders name and paste in front of the name of the one you want to use. Look at pic and see the "z" added to front of names now chosen. That makes it choose that folder instead of another. BONUS! Comes with my arrow base mod, and easy vis command buttons that highlight the order color when hovered over. Two choices full color or just color outline. Again take the "z" in name from one and paste into name of folder you want to use. Default is outline. You can use what you want. All set up to cherry pick, but think you will like defaults I have set. Enjoy, Vin TO USE: Put the folders inside the game's "mod" folder found in the "Battlefront" folder in your "documents" folder. 14. Things were a little better there this hopefully last time there. Little bit more staff, but all new FNG types. Little better response times. The room was the best so far as I had to have my own room because of a secondary infection called C-DIFF. They put in new much needed improved beds with a Usb port, and the plus that nobody may not have died in already like one of the nurses says while she's making it for me Food service at this particular VA is VERY bad to the point of complete incompetence. I'm not talking quality which I'm sure is not the best. Wouldn't know because I lived on broth and ensure there. The incompetency of putting foods on there that could actually put someone in emergency surgery or cause fatality. This is even after meeting with dietitian. I have lots of stuff can't eat now, and one brother there could have died from having something cold served to him, but they kept binging over and over and over. Broken comms system with incompetent workers and system in place.
  15. I can say that the care at least at my hospital has gone form a 9 to a 4 from my first stay end of May to may last stay last month. Lots of people have left due to mandate which i don't blame them. I can say from first hand experience it has hurt not help the quality of care there no matter how you stand on that issue. The ER were never overrun and rather empty too all seen with my own eyes. Stay out of the hospitals these days if you can!
  16. I thought the words in this summed up what it means to be a Veteran very well, and wanted to share it this Veteran's Day. I've spent more time in the VA hospital this year than I would certainly like due to a perforated colon that must be surgically removed soon to get well again. I can say it's not a fun experience being there especially sharing the bathroom with 4 other men. They only give you socks so you do the math . I learned after my first stay there to bring sandals or slippers, and to bring your own toilet paper. The stuff there is worse than the packets in an MRE (my booty only takes Charmin ). My last stay there I had a roommate who was a 75 yr old with colon cancer who was a medic in Vietnam. The best thing about being there is a feeling of brotherhood with each other just like being back in the military. When the nurses would come in to do their thing he would always say "Take care of my buddy first" referring to me a man 20 yrs his jr. I would insist the nurse take care of him first which luckily they listened to me because he really needed priority, but how beautiful and unselfish is that that this 75 yr old man would try to put me first when he was in worse shape than me? That's brotherhood. To all my fellow Veteran's I thank you for your service because we did not all take the same oath to only serve the civilians in our nation, but each other. I'm proud to be one of you. I'm proud to be a Veteran. Happy Veteran's Day!
  17. His grin at the end is priceless. I remember when I went through there was a Drill standing outside taking photographs of dudes coming out saying "Smile Pvt!" click. lol
  18. Bootie, I dropped you a message a week ago, and never heard back. How do I go about updating my mods at the new warehouse? Do I join FGM again to do it? Belonged years ago, but don't see my profile there anymore.
  19. Vin's Geometric Icons CMFI This an updated polished set from the original set I made years ago, and expands to include all the modules. Improvements include diamond shape now for armor, and available nation HQ icons. If you are familiar with my other sets it uses distinctive geometric shapes for different units same as the others. Allies are blue Axis is red spotted icons The FOW icons are grey(axis), and olive(allied) The HQ Icons default are a white star on blue(allies), and German cross on red (axis). There are other HQ variants for allies and axis to choose from if you look at pic. To change HQ icons for different nations you may be playing you have to do it manually. Go into the HQ's folders and cut the "z" at the front of one folders name and paste in front of the name of the one you want to use. Adding a "z" to beginning of a folder name tells the game which folder to use. You can also use the vanilla black HQ flag too. BONUS! Comes with my arrow base mod, and easy vis command buttons that highlight the order color when hovered over. Two choices full color or just color outline. Again take the "z" in name from one and paste into name of folder you want to use to change. You can use what you want. All set up to cherry pick, but think you will like defaults I have set. Enjoy, Vin Vin Geometric icons CMFI v.3.rar
  20. Vin's Geometric Icons CMRT This an updated polished set from the original set I made years ago. Improvements include diamond shape now for armor, and available nation HQ icons. Again take the "z" in name from one and paste into name of folder you want to use to change. You can use what you want. All set up to cherry pick, but think you will like defaults I have set. Enjoy, Vin (Sorry, just noticed I posted this in the general CMRT forum instead of mods where this should have been. If BF can move this to the mod sub forum I'd appreciate. Thanks) Vin CMRT geometric icons.rar
  21. One thing also important to remember in reference to Ian's excellent advice for using engineers to blow gaps for vehicles - Give the blast order as a parallel line on the side of the wall your on that you want to breech for example instead of through it putting waypoint on other side. Doing it this way assures a gap blown wide enough to get a vehicle through, and also prevents your engineers from running through the gap to the other side potentially into a kill zone.
  22. If your an animal lover, "No Better Friend". Amazing story of the only officially documented canine POW in the Pacific.
  23. Navigating the game is very easy, but I suggest using a mouse with as many programmable buttons as possible. Assign camera movements to it. I also -use an old Nostromo speedpad controlling the entire game effortlessly and quickly. Faster than any other RTS I've played. I use default camera set up, and the tab button (lock camera) most of the time via middle mouse button. Camera instantly flies to and locks. Then use mouse wheel to zoom in and out. I have camera views 1 - 6 too for quick jumps tied to buttons. The front and back mouse buttons I have as =, - to cycle through units forward and back. Wide and zoom tied to mouse wheel on Nostromo. Another one that is very handy is F12, select last unit. Re-selects if you accidentally de-select a unit, and also allows jumping back and forth between two units not in =. - order. The thing about CM is the camera is different in that ii uses the right mouse button for slow panning. I think the camera in CM is the BEST of any game with it's tremendous range and angles available. Controlling it too is awesome once you get organized and get the hang of it. Camera usually makes or breaks games for me often too lose and limited.
  24. What can I say Capt, you have a real flare for clear, well presented graphics any second grader would be envious of .
  25. Happy hunting Capt, and look forward to seeing all of yours, and Bil's hard work in action. Early Mid 80's was when I joined so this will be particularly interesting to see how this time period plays out in game.
