  1. Hi all.

    My battle plans usually start with some sort of prep fire into suspected positions. The problem I have is moving my FOs onto position to get "eyes on".

    As soon as I'm in position I attract HMG fire etc. I've tried going in slow with "Hide" at the last way point but still ended up seen before I could call in the fire mission.

    Any advice as to the best way to move into reciprocal LOS and stay hidden?

    Thanks JTF.

  2. It's the "Training Demo v1.01"

    The other 3 CM's had a "do this and do that and you will see this happens" type of thing.

    Guess I'll have read the manual.

    I See what you mean about the need for suppression. De-bused the troops only to put 'em back on board so they didn't all die.

    Cheers JTF

  3. Example from the site listed above. The site also shows a "family tree" style layout of the all the sub units.

    Typical Structure of Naval Rifle Brigades

    Equipment.................Amount

    Manpower..................4500 men

    Light Machine-guns........149

    Heavy Machine-guns........48

    PPSh submachineguns.......612

    Antitank rifles...........48

    76mm guns.................8

    57mm guns.................12

    82mm mortars..............16

    120mm mortars.............8

    Automobiles...............178

    Horses....................812

    Remarks:

    1.Naval rifle brigades were formed by staff of common separate rifle brigade;

    2.Up to 50% of manpower consisted of marines;

    3.Initially all commanders (including junior leaders) were from seamen;

    4.Unlike Marine brigades Naval rifle brigades were formed by military districts, but not by fleets.

  4. I'm after some information on the 48th Panzer Korps, formally the 48th Armee Korps (mot).

    I'm trying to build up a detailed picture of it's movements from the opening shots of Barbarossa, thought the Russian winter counter attack and into spring. June 41 to May 42.

    The info I so far have is top level, Panzer Group etc.

    If anyone knows of any good web sites which could give me more detail I would greatful for any links.

    Where, when, what was it doing and who was the unit above. All that on a weekly time scale would be great.

    Thanks JT Fox

  5. Good bumping Blazing 88's.

    I have searched a number of times for this sort of thing yet somehow managed to miss RQC generator.

    I had started to write my own campaign rules. I had a 8 page sequence of play mapped out when I read this thread. 75% of what I had planned is cover by RQC generater so a lot of time and effort has been saved on my part.

    To Robo, thanks for the time and effort you put in to producing this piece of work.

    Finally. Has anyone coverted the Excel spreadsheet macro's to work with Open Office Calc? That would save me even more time and effort.

  6. Hi BlastDuke.

    I'm in the process of putting together a ruleset for a campaign game.

    It's called:

    Combat Mission: Solitaire Campaign System. (CM:SCS)

    Although the title says solitaire the battles can be played head to head or PBEM.

    I was relieved to see it differs a fair bit from you ruleset. I thought I might have to throw mine out of the window.

    I like the look of running three campaigns but would do it in the following manner.

    Move to Moscow

    Move to Leningrad

    Move to Stalingrad

    The aim of the game would be to hold all 3 cities simultaneously in order to force a Russian surrender.

    Taking Moscow and Leningrad by winter 41 and then pushing south in 42 while holding the first two against Russian counter attacks would be a very interesting game.

    I'll watch with interest to how people respond to this and what they say as it might effect how I complete my campaign game.

    Good luck JT Fox

  7. Fictional with Minimal Story

    If you have a large equipment data base which can be expanded, then you can take CMx2 engine to any location.

    A few visual mods and you would soon be fighting in Cold War Europe in the 1980's for example.

    I have have not been around CM for very long but one thing that stands out is the way in which the game community can bend the CMx1 engine to do almost any campaign. With "Fictional with Minimal Story" you keep all options open.
