  1. Yeah, Graw and rambow 6 are pretty good tactical shooters too they give you the same feeling of tension and are somewhat realistic, but not as deep tactically or difficult as this ARMA Armed assault. GRAW and R6 are more more gamey, commercial tactical shooters.

Yeah, if you lockout other players -little paddle lock on the bottom when you create your own game and unlock AI for multiplay coop it is just you and your squad. Also I hear this game is very modible and has almost the same editor as OFP.

And you can create your own missions on the fly.

  2. LTBull, admit it its too hard for you and maybe you system is a little old. don't worry alot of people get frustrated with these game the require a lot of patients they are expecting call of dog duty or something like that. Anyway you can say that about any first person shooter, where the AI doesn't really have to see you and it s hard to tell if he is, you could even say that about most 3d person stategy games. thing is you just have to take good cover and shoot at the right time.

  3. athkatla, I'm with you. I hate the jumping up and down and taking all kinds of shots like the were bee stings. Plus your rifle has weight and is heavier at one end than the other and so its going to move differently its to just a floating digital curser and you want be guning and jumping in ever which direction fatiguelessly. Also I love the fact that you can give all these commands and the map is endless, not to mention all the hilly terrain.

There is a certain tension where you have to value ever move in these games which I love.

Slapaho, crysis not at all a tactical sim in the

way that either TOW or ARMA are but nonetheless I am looking forward to this game myself very much so it is going to be one of the my most anticipated games-it looks incredible(what's wrong with good grahpics?). far cry no mater how unrealistic was one of my favorites.

As for COD and medal of honor

those run and gun world war II drama adventure games. No they're not for me. Though I do like brother in arms a much more tactical game.

  4. I downloaded it and installed it today and I've got to say despite all the whining going on in the forums it does seem quite good. I used to like operation flash point some are saying this isn't as good. I disagree, I think they are all just waxing nostalgic-and I also noticed when one whines about something in these forums they all have to chim in for some reason.

But it is very much the same OFP with even better graphics and four times the map area.

For some strange reason TOW reminds me of the old days when I played OFP. It even looks alittle like an over the top operation flash point with a whole company rather than just a platoon.

They both have that tense raw millitary sim look.

yeah, I know they are two entirely different games and different wars, but nonetheless they're not your typical commercial hollywood action war games I see all the time like company of heros and call of duty where you are running all over the place with dispensible lives frantically.

  5. "The thing I loved about CM was using Air support gave you the added suspense that 50% of the time it dropped its deadly cargo on your own troops".

Oh, my god! I almost fell out of my chair laughing after reading this remark and yet it is so true and to the point even the suspense lol.

  6. Thank you, Madmatt, yes I'm still brousing here from time to time. Thanks for all the info and keeping us abreast on how things are going. This was all I asked.

I must say this looks and sound like a game I am looking forward to. And wow you people at battlefront are doing some major revisions of which I am impressed and all the more eager to see.

    Thanks

  7. Yeah, take another year or two or tow lol we'd just love that like he said the llllonger the better! By then it will be soooo good! (oh, by the way I am one of the few who never complains about a few bugs; really I'd just like to see the dam game!).

But we love waiting and thanks for giving us a time frame and an idea of how far along we get to wait-I know its hard to tell. I plan on being patient so patient I'll not even bother to look anymore I'll completely forget about it; and then when I'm old and blind I'll ask my freekin grandson if that game TOW whatchma call it ever came out and if it looks any good. For this fully bake already made game that will take longer to release than if someone else made a whole new game I'll be more than happy to wait. That is fine at least it will not be buggy.

keep squashing those bugs guys...guy? and thanks! A good game is just a bug free game-though I've never played a bug free game I must say my favorite games just happened to have quite a few-that eventually got patched like most games.

I think I'll download one of those wall papers and when someone sees it on my computer I'll say: that is one of the best world war 2 RTS games ever;- when it comes out it will be one of the best world war II RTSes to date. Come on lets go to youtube to watch those russian guys play it.

"When is it coming out?" "Oh, I don't know and I don't care, the important thing is it will be good that I can assure you, because it is being worked on and worked on and worked on etc...just look at the nice wall paper what do you think?!"

  8. Prince of eck, for that, you're never getting your copy-that should make you happy being the way you are about it.

..."when it finally comes out": Its not coming out so don't you all waste you time here.

When it finally comes out : if it ever does it will still have its share of bugs.

You patient ones don't really even care if it ever comes out. You're content with just slouching and picking your desk tops at work or home waiting to die and not really caring or aspiring for anything just apathetically waiting like mrytars for something you don't really even want. bah!

  9. Yeah, you notice ha.I read sometime last month by someone here-may even have been alluded by someone from battlefront- that it was likely that it would be released the end of this month.

Sure doesn't look that way Does it.

Don't know what everyone is so excited about.

And don't deny it! It was mentioned here in this forum "end of January."

should we expect it maybe this spring or summer...next fall?

    "whenever its finished" yeah.

  10. "Meanwhile, the rest of us--who have a modicum of self-restraint and faith in BTS to turn out great games--go on with what we usually refer to as "life.

Oh, yes and you're the only one here who has a "life" You must think you're special.

You must be one of those slow drivers.

Sip your coffee, sit and read the paper.

watch TV go on vaction once a year get your promotion. wait to die! wow!

Oh, yes old man we must agree here and lets hope you still have a modicum or the balls! to ask what the hell is going on!

Who the hell ever said they didn't have faith in them? You seem to love to have "self-restraint" and wait forever and for one day to be told never.

  11. Personally I'd be happy if they just took all the senerios and unite stats from CMBB and added a few interface changes such as hot keys for specified unites and appied them to this new graphics engine.

but yeah, I guess after all these years, its time to make a whole new game with improved AI, different weopons and a different setting.

  12. I would not be surprised if we were still another year away given that the graphics are not finalized and the plot not finalized etc...

I hear ya, not long ago he was looking for an animator. Be interested in knowing about how far into its completion they are say percentage wise.

Too bad they can't afford a bigger developing team to work on all the aspects of the game. Then again if that were the case we may wind up with one of those high production dumb down inaccurate games -for every one play- that looks technically awesome and gets old and boring very fast.

  13. Yeah, I know. We all know: "when its finished"

But does anyone have any idea what year and what quarter this game may be ready to sell. I'm only asking for a rough estimate of what you think will be the release date.

I remember last winter say, January, in this forum, people saying it was to be release late in the spring as in may or june. And then: the old "when its finished!!" and threats "if you ask about the game again" and to the affect of everyone here will hate you and think you are a stupid pechulant child for asking. Since then everyone gave up and began writing crazy off topic post -cherry waffle TNT, Peng, photos of real modern artillary and tanks; woopie!- all stuff that intentionally avoided asking about the game boring stuff I could care less about. like as if you where all in jail or something and needed something to distract your restless minds or as if you don't really care about the game anymore and where just here to hang out and write bombastic posts ;) .

  14. I have the game and I must say I agree as far as graphics and physics go they are quite sensational, and the game is fun and entertaining to a degree, but it all palls on me after a while and I start wishing I'd loaded CMBB instead. And I don't find the tactics or so call strategies needed to score all that accurate or involved either. Understanding its own brand of gamey tactics and strategies and above all how fast you execute simple commands-key mashing and mouse clicking- and crank out units is the only way to succeed in that game.

No, BF don't put that much effort into mere graphics and physics at the expense of accuracy tactical gameplay, though I'd certainly like something more graphically detailed and up to date than CM-quite a bit more in fact :D .

  15. Good advice, though there was one incident where air strikes hit my company which was in column and on route to where my point made cover and that was all that was needed

to take out 2 MGS and 2 mortars and panic a few rifle squads. It was a surprise and they were beyond the starting point; say at about the 8th turn where the terrain had a slight concavity and there were some trees head.

On one map it took me quite some time before deciding to place my tow 150mm and 105 guns... where they would get hit on the first turn and knocked out on the second or third ha. You see no matter where I put them at setup they were useless, they had no line of sight to even the enemies foreward starting line. They, the russians were higher up and behind little hills. So in order for me to get a decent line of sight I needed to put them somewhere in the middle of my starting point out in the open and what I did was to have them fire smoke on the first turn. Regardless it didn't work to well and so next time I'll save them and just put them where there is better cover or way in back as you suggested for my tanks. Though in this particular incident they would be useless there so I'd have to move them up to get decent LOS, because of the middle having slightly higher ground which would also block there LOS. Though maybe I could just leave an HQ behind to spot for them?

  16. - posted October 21, 2006 11:00 AM Profile for Arkel Email Arkel Edit/Delete Post Reply With Quote Rune, maybe it would help if someone of BF or 1C placed a sticky or announcement at the top of this forum, giving some information about when it will be released and the demo date, something like you just posted

Exactly that's all some of us are asking. Put it some where were it can be seen such as a sticky at the top of the forum or home page. That way you don't have to get all worked up about repeating it for the "100th time" Most sites I can just go to the top of the forum page and there it is "release date." Actually it is all over their site and I never have any trouble finding that information.

I and most members don't want to waste their time raking through every post and paragraph alluding to a release date. All I ever see is "its done when its done!!!! and something to the affect of Now leave us a lone! And "oh, stupid me, sorry for asking."

Hah, anyway that's good to know it will be out this year.

  17. Ok, sorry I haven't had time to post anything and let you know how coming along in the quick battles, but anyway its been going pretty good for me at 600 points using your advice. I won my first but not by a huge score and I will say there wasn't a whole lot of cover. I like to use random for cover when setting up.

As far as time goes for me as in turns I had one battle where I wasted several turns taking out this one tank that was lodged in a hole behind some trees. (I didn't want to move my infantry or recon any further till I delt with this tank.) Of course I used mortar and from my starting line shot carefully with shoot and scoot and smoke with one of my tanks. Still it took too many turns before it was finally destroyed and I ended up rushing my troops to advance thiers to gain points; but ended up losing anyway.

I am wondering how you deal with bombardments and off map air strikes. especially with there isn't a whole lot of cover and the enemy line up on a hill

Seems I have lost at least two or three small arm infantry and sometimes all three of my mortars

with many routs and panics. the last time it happened at my start line and My units where behind some trees but the russians where way up on a hill and behind a small valley. Another time I had my troops running for the next cover running and hiding; it was a long way to the next cover and I still go the nasty air strike. My split scouts had just made it to cover-what are you going to do? Guess you just have to take the loses. What do you think?

  18. All this suppression and guilt as to wonder roughly when it will be released, such as this year in a few months next spring is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. Why shouldn't we want to know. Should we just forget about it all together? This is silly. And for all ass kissing aside it does take battlefront very long to get things out, though there is the excuse that they are not a huge team of developers with a whole lot to spend.

But being human and honest I am not a "I don't care" (I'm so gracious and noble, so patient) ""when it is done"" iterater. I and really anyone who is at all genuinely interested in this game are going to want to know especially after all this time since the anouncement what month or quarter the game will be released and what about this demo that as some where claiming would be out "in two weeks" that is now or has it been three weeks.

  19. "I’m just getting to grips with the fabulous game, and I keep having to put it down because I get frustrated by my lack of understanding – but I keep returning to it. As a smart guy, I always thought I’d have made a great officer: I rather think the opposite after a few games!"

He comes along later graciously, grandiloquently humble (and vainly self flattering) with all "whinning" "aside" what an example of studious piety, splended!- (excuse me, I'm part of a slit squad that needs to vomit)

You do admit to getting frustrated- what else- and well you know now not to do that!

You must be the other half of the split squad who stayed behind and can now join the rest of the platoon with full support now that everthing is revealed. Welcome
