  1. well gamey tactic will not work in this particular scenario. Have not been to the forums in a few days. But I notice its still going on with the ignorant sarcasm and poor analogies. You just don't get it do you, C3k and the rest of you?

C3k, you are not very smart, are you? The thread you started:

"I bought Civ I in 1991 and I have to pay for Civ V? Why?"

Well I will spell it out for you and the rest of the toadies and stooges who agreed and laughed along in that thread. I will clear it up for you with a few facts. Here they are:

Civilization I to V these are all totally different games build ground up

on totally different engines with new maps new countries, new combat systems new races, new world etc. So you pay for new games-Get it!

And therefore you should pay full price if you think it will be as good as

the previous games in the series. (So you're not even being funny just stupid)

Now CMBN 2.0 update is just that an update with added interface features and a tweaked

shader graphic update that is so subtle as to not make much of a difference- so say the expert reviewers. Whether or not you want to spend $10 dollars on these extra features is up to you. I may prefer to buy a full game for that amount or even wait till BF has an expansion for CM2 to purchase that I am interested in with these features and a whole new theater for full price.

I believe I've said all this before and once again dealing with brainless fanboys

I find myself repeating this again.

C3k, you test the games or you make scenarios?

You know I have played a lot of CM and CM2 games, even shock force. Have bought a lot of games and expansions here and thus was happy to give my support. I would like to continue supporting this franchise but with people like this behind the development I'm starting to lose interest for fear of what direction it may take.

  2. This kind of stuff is what's making me totally despise the internet... along with the OP's cartoon. The total anonymity allows everyone to act completely (one hopes) different from the way we'd like to be known personally. I'm just guessing, but I suspect if I acted like this IRL, my dental bills would have peaked at one time until I no longer needed the services of an oral surgeon.

I believe (and unlike others on this board, I'm frequently wrong) this forum is a place to share ideas. Faxis has shared his and many others have shared disparate opinions. No one is going to change his mind; poking fun just keeps him going and serves no other purpose than to put on display our own immaturity.

I know this site has an "ignore" feature, but that usually serves little purpose because it tends to leave holes in discussions making them difficult to follow. I recently left a pay forum, related to one of my favorite sports teams, because I grew weary of this type of behavior; I'd been a member since approximately 1996. I'm not a grog in any sense, I have limited modding skills, I'm still trying to learn the editor, so, in truth, I serve very little constructive purpose within this forum other than to share my enjoyment of the game... I have no doubt that my absence would be missed not a whit.

I've stayed out of the cesspool for a reason... is it really necessary for the rest of the board to jump in with them?

    JMO, Rake

Thanks you, Rake, you seem to understand and even if you don't agree with me you disagree in a mature intelligent way with this statement. I though this forum was full of older mature, rational people. Boy was I mistaken. For a while there I thought I was in the Farcry 3 forum or the call of duty forum.

  3. Ok, to badman and robin... ah come to think of it you're all robins (you all bought the "upgrade for ten bucks and then had badman slap you for it) As for me I will spend my hard earned money on a full game for $10 and there are plenty of good ones out there at Gamersgate, GOG, steam etc. or I could just get an actual expansion with enough actual game play content to justify paying 10 -15 dollars for it.( have bought many good war games for this price) Maybe when an actual game or expansion comes out that I'm interested in and that will have these features. I'll then buy it for the full price as I have the other BF games.

I know you can't imagine how I wouldn't want to do what everyone else here in this club in

this forums is doing, what a fool I must be for wanting to save my money in stead of

give it to battlefront whenever I have a chance. But you know just as Steve and whoever else here who works for battlefront(which judging by the previous post I noticed was just about everyone who was arguing against me)just like you need to make money and "economize" I need to do the same on what I choose to spend it on. I need to eat to

and if I spend it all on upgrades like this I'm going to kick myself for not spending it on

    some good food.

But you say why wouldn't I want to support BF. I have already. As for the rest of you. I believe if Steve and company came out with a beer can opener with CMBN for twenty dollars which he insisted would cover all the manpower and material in payments (and who knows he may well be telling the truth) you'd all jump on the bandwagon and buying them with the rest of your BF club members and talk about them but not dare to ask if it could

have cost a little less and question its usefulness or rather uselessness. The good thing is you are all together on this foolish or not you've paid you membership and Steve and company like you. So doesn't your priest when you write him out a check.

  5. By the way, the Batman slapping Robin post said it all.

Franko were do you live so I can donkey punch you? And you won't have you BFC friends to save you old man.

And badgar73 what do you know about Shakespear bit ch.

Guess 10 dollars is nothing. After you get the patch what's to do but wait 5 minutes for it to load.

No that's you Franko you little whimp hiding behind the forum members.

  6. What about long load times? Has that been fixed under the performance increase?

I mean the longest load times I've ever seen in any game. I have a samsung SDD drive, 8 gigs of ram and a intel I7 quad core with my system specs reads and writes are very fast.

This all sounds just great! I have to get this upgrade no matter, 10 dollars! its worth it.

With all you said to convince me and its my choice and if I know what's good

for me like the rest of you I will get it.

  7. You are supposed to know what the effort BFC put into the latest patch in terms of time more than themselves. They charge 10 dollars simply because that's what they consider neccesary to keep CM alive. They possibly love CM much more than you and me, so why would they like to keep customers unhappy? Get rich with 10 dollars or maybe, make all that effort worth it? Nobody will charge money if the revenue will make customers flee (except banks, maybe..). Use it or lose it, and then learn to live with life frustrations,...

Gaming industry nowadays is crazy, games for 60 bucks that last (in terms of time, not enjoyment) 3 CM Quick Battles and being sold as pop corns...while games like CM are attacked repeteadly because 3 guys need to get some money from their effort.

Yeah, I agree, 60 bucks for a waste of time a waste of 8 hours at the most.

After you've beaten main story or whatever which is usually the same crap gameplay rehashed its good for the trash. And yes I know its not a big team here, only a few.

  8. From what I read the 2.0 upgrade that was released actually cost more in terms of manpower and other resources than what the proceeds will take in.

What would possess any company to spend arduous months completely giving away their time? That is close to what they are doing now.

This isn't a perfect game; but I absolutely love what this game represents. I for one would hate to see this company go belly up because it catered to the whims of the selfish few.

I read this too whether I believe it is another story.

Yes I'd hate to see it go belly up too. Though if Steve and company were to take a look at my sales history they'd see I've given quite a bit to the cause already

  9. Most companies call it a new game or a new version of an old game. And they usually charge $30-$50 or more for it. Why, by golly, that's more than BFC is charging!

    Michael

Simply not true. What you are refering to are actual expansions or maps added, new campaigns etc. Paradox for instance has actual content packs with new units for a dollar

as does Total war for a few bucks.

  10. (snipped and italicized by me)

No, it's just that almost everyone else has the brains to think about it before posting.

I'll give you your FREE patch. Really. I'm about to do you a favor, and show you how giving this community is. I won't even request that you PM me. I'll set it up so you can download your FREE patch from a 3rd party server.

    Look up.

Not that far up. Just up to the top of the forum announcements. There! Yes, that's it. The part that says, "Combat Mission Battle for Normandy patch v1.11". Here's the link: http://www.battlefront.com/community/announcement.php?f=124&a=579

Sure, you wanted 2.0 for free. Well, 2.0 is an UPGRADE. v1.11 is a PATCH.

So, there you go, one free patch, from me to you.

Now, you want movable waypoints? Upgrade. And pay for it.

    You want...

Ability to assign special uniform types for select units types on a unit by unit basis.

    Target Armor Arc Command

    Expanded Floating Icon Categories

    "Fog of War" Floating Icons

    2D Editor Map Overlay

    Auto-Assemble Road/Wall/Hedge Tool

    Camera Jump to Groups

    Target Briefly Command

    New Rendering Shaders

    Bump and Normal Mapping

    Improved Framerates

    Pausable Realtime TCP/IP Mode

Well, you've got to PAY. See, the original wasn't broken because it did not include that stuff. So, no patch to "fix" what isn't broken.

Now, I'd like some ice cream - for free. Why can't we have THAT?

    Ken

Seems that almost everyone here doesn't have the brains to realize that you don't pay for extra features and justify it by calling it an upgrade. No other publisher big or small has the nerve to do this...you my boy keep staying on the side of the angels and moving with the herd.

Batman: that should be me slapping you for going along with the rest here and paying for that "extra" Save your money son!

  11. I know where you can get new scenarios for free on the BTS website.

Yeah, I was waiting for someone to say this. But we want professional stuff.

as for paying for extra features such as in battlefield and photoshop well you just can't compare them to this: these are either new engines, new software and the features they add make it add quite a bit worth paying.

  12. To all of you who want something for nothing >>

    http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=107549

Bottom line I already paid for the game. And this is just the kind of response I would expect from Steve.

So you're willing to fork over $10 dollars for almost nothing so you can be part of the CM forum crowd who all did?

Programming is a tedious job and very long and difficult just for some minor things to be added or fixed, but the fact of the matter is you never have to pay for a patch with a few extra features. No where except BF.

Again why didn't they throw in a few scenarios if they were going to charge for it and 10 dollars?
