  1. Still playing/testing V4.1. Biggest flaw still in existence: the demilitarized zone in germany still remains neutral even after DOWing France and even AFTER the fall of France...that's very unrealistic. At least this time France kept being neutral until 1942 (on 61%) when I finally attacked them. Sami
  2. Still on V4.0 as axis. After the capture of Paris I was asked whether I wanted to completely wipe out France or NOT. I chose NOT (because I thought that I then would be given the possibility to create Vichy). What happened? NOTHING BUT the french morale went UP to 100% and I was never given (until now) the option of Vichy (NM stays where it is, although until now I almost captured all France with my german, italian and spanish troops. Strange... Sami
  3. Started V4.0 as axis yesterday. Strange or improbable thing happened: Although I did NOTHING to annoy the allies (except for the "Anschluss*), i.e. I left the Rhineland demilitarized (and didn't do anything with Italy in Abyssinia) and (as usual) did NOT attack Poland, France dowed me in 1939. There are two problems to this. 1. Since there is a demilitarized zone (with the Siegfried-line in it), I couldn't garrison the crucial points, therefore France every turn noticed the weak (no one there) german border and eventually dowed me. 2. I really do not think that France in 1939 or 1940 would have gone to war without Germany attacking Poland and even leaving the border demilitarized. What else Germany could have done to appease France or England? Didn't take Sudetenland, didn't attack ANYBODY. AND signed a non-attack-treaty with France some weeks ago... I nevertheless go on testing. Oh yes btw, I spend most of my MMP's on diplomacy and got Spain to join in late 1939! Right now Spain is invading France from the south... Go on with your good work! Sami
  4. Just finished the V3.0. This time playing as allies. As usual I tried an ahistoric version. I dowed Germany just about 3 weeks before their invasion on Poland (late july or early august 1939). Result: Germany surrendered in August 1940! Conclusion: the axis scripts need improvement. Germany even started Fall Gelb or dowed Norway, when the allied troops already had advanced deep into Germany (and one polish tank was near Berlin). Looking forward to V4.0 Sami
  5. Just finished the V2.1 as axis, which I enjoyed a lot! Here some observations: As always, I tried an ahistoric variant. In this case I never attacked Poland until 1945 (!) but attacked France in January 1939 in a direct attack through the maginot line. Result: France fell in June 1940 (Belgium and Netherlands remained untouched). Then I sea-lioned England successfully, but to my surprise at the end of 1940 the US dowed me!! I'm not at all sure, whether the US really went at war "just for England" without the Japs attacking them... Another surprise that turned into a disappointment: somewhen US amphibious landing vessels landed in southwest England. At first I was delighted about this surprising move. But then, turn after turn, the US sent vessel after vessel, all appearing at the same spot in the Bristol Channel. Once knowing that, I easily could sink them one after the other by stationing subs at this spot. I finally conquered Egypt and Russia (having Poland a a neutral "buffer" between Germany and Russia). I then conquered South America and from there on to Cuba. US was down in late 1946. All in all I wonder if it's worth keeping Spain as a major, since they finally joined axis in 1945 despite my diplomatic efforts. Does it make sense to "waste" a major spot on a country, that hardly comes into the game? I don't mention minor bugs here (like the US hampering spanish economy even after the US defeat etc.), because I think that all in all this is a great version. Last word on subs: unlike other SC2 versions, they don't do very well against battleships, cruisers or carriers. Not sure if this is on purpose? Thanks for the good work, I am going to test (as usual in an ahistoric attempt) V3.0! Sami
  6. Hi you can easily change the end date within the editor! Samichlaus
  7. Hi Mats I just finished your V1.8. Just in brief a few flaws I discovered (perhaps already corrected in V2.0?): 1. I again invested in the Uranverein, but nothing ever happened. 2. I invested 300MP for 10 turns into Reichskommisariat Ukraine, but nothing ever happened. 3. Although I was very cautious as german in the pre-war period (never attacked Poland) and could conquer France without getting at war with England, England dowed me a few turns after the surrender of France anyway (in a VARIANT) and again the US followed already in the end of 1940 (and in the same year Norway in a variant joined the allies...). 4. Unlike in other games, the axis seem to have very little possibilities to diplomatically influence other countries. It's 1947 now and Spain still remains neutral although I invested the maximum diplomatic points. 5. Starting in about 1945 I get the annoying decision to give Franco Oran in exchange for some ports. It pops up every turn and I always answer "yes" but nothing happens. 6. From the moment I conquered France I get every turn a partisan reminder, although NEVER any partisan in France appeared til now. 7. Although I never attacked Poland I got the reminder to garrison warsaw as long as russia wasn't at war (I denied the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact btw). 8. When I attacked France I got the option for op Tannenbaum, but at the time when Tannenbaum could be launched, France was already history... These in brief (there are other minor flaws, like messages that are outdated at the time they appear, f.e. Hess flying to Scotland or the british withdrawing at Dunkerqe when these events were obsolete or the british never had their in France at all...). Hope this helps to improve your good mod further. cu Sami
  8. Hi Nupremal just sent the errorlog.txt and ERROR.sav file to Hubert... I hope he can fix it. Loved your campaign very much so far! cu Samichlaus
  9. Whenever the British surrender (after capture of Glasgow) I get the following error message: "FAILED (animate_and_update_auxilary_control_id_for_a_surrendered_country): Segmentation violation" And then the game crashes (CTD). Is there any way to fix this? Otherwise I can't go on playing... Help is appreciated! cu Samichlaus PS: Playing as Axis, time January 1944
  10. Hi Mats Ok I finished V1.4 and encountered the last bugs/problems: 1. There is a norwegian coastal gun I bought, that behaves like a rocket (I can move and attack with it...). 2. I wonder what became of the "Uranverein" I invested early in the game. It's january '47 now (and I conquered the world...I mean the US and Canada, South America before). The US dropped the A-bomb on the Japs but nothing ever happened with my investments into the german A-bomb. 3. Are you sure that upgrading the fleets should cost that much? 4. The US didn't get tired to send amphibious assault boats on and on. Unfortunately always on the same path (so I had only to put some subs there and they would be running into them on and on). Ok, I probably forgot a few things I encountered, but that's it for V1.4 to me. I will go on with V1.5, but probably will take some time off. I encountered a bug btw, that isn't your fault: a russian fighter escaped into one of my cities. I was never able to attack it (because I owned the city). Strange, but I think this is a bug for Hubert. cu Samichlaus
  11. You should make it available as soon as Germany is at war with France. It was designed by the germans as a variant to occupy France by the south (as addition or in state of breaking through the Benelux!) Will start to test V1.5 now... Go on! cu Samichlaus
  12. Here are some more things I encountered: 1. I alredy conquered Iceland with one unit but after the defeat of Denmark (in '43) Iceland declared independency and my unit was gone and Iceland joined allies... 2. Norway early in the game joined axis (don't know why, didn't spend points on diplomacy). 3. Operation Tannenbaum comes always far too late. When I got the option my troops were already in Paris. I feel this option should pop-up as soon as the germans attack france otherwise it's too late and no more useful. 4. Unlike other SC2-scenarios Russia never occupies finnish territory and Finland so far doesn't do anything. 5. Russia never annexes baltic states so far (end '43). 6. Is it on purpose that some russian cities seem to activate their reserves several times? 7. Allied destroyers give my land troops a hard time. Is this realistic? In other games my destroyers hardly ever hit land troops. 8. Suddenly I CAN OP-move in Russia. I think this might have to do with the fact that Russia is being conquered from the bottom (Odessa) and OP-movement becomes available when I occupy the northern cities (not sure about that). Ok, now I will go on testing... cu Samichlaus
  13. Thats's no error. UK hadn't surrendered then, I just had conquered the whole island.
  14. Hi Mats here are some things I encountered playing V1.4 (as axis, it's summer '43 now). As always (to test variants), I didn't do anything to anger allies (never at war with Poland so far, attacked France first and broke through maginot, conquered England then): 1. After the forming of Croatia, one of my armies is surrounded by Croatia (which is at 80% axis) and cannot move anymore anywhere. 2. I feel that at least at Lorient axis should have a harbour with more than 5 supply! This way all my subs have to go back to germany for repairs. Perhaps make a DE to build up a sub-port at Lorient? 3. There is an annoying pop-up that comes up every move that reminds me to strenghten my forces in France (although I occupied every hex where partisans could show up). It even pops up on AI turns (=hundreds of unnecessary clicks). 4. Operational movement into russia impossible (you can just OP-move to Odessa, even with air) most of the time. 5. Hess flies to Scotland even though I already conquered Britain. 6. After Pearl Harbour I get dowed for the second time by the US... 7. Allies establish bases on the Azores although I bought the Azores from Portugal by DE. Nothing happens fortunately... Ok most of the above are minor things, but I still wanted you to know. Since you seem to like these big numbers in MPP's, apart from the sub-problem (that was slightly improved I think) I wonder if this makes oil-wells or industrial centers less important? What's the point in conquering Baku or Maikop when you get only some lousy points compared to the price you pay for the units? Okay, now I will play on to see how long it takes to conquer Russia and then even maybe the US (I prolongated the game end time with the editor and also made every unit upgradeable for a decent price). cu Samichlaus
  15. Hi Mats playing V1.4 now. I did everything to please the British, France and the US. (with the exception of the "Anschluss" I denied every action that could anger the allies. England declared war (VARIANT-AI) before France. Never attacked Poland (the Russians nevertheless reminded me I should garrison Koenigsberg AND Warsaw, although I never attacked Poland and am therefore not in possession of Warsaw). It's early 1941 now and the US have dowed Germany on december '40! Italy never did any "evil" thing in Ethiopia and they are defending Mogadishu with the help of the DOAK. Russia has joined allies two or three turns ago and I easily took Odessa. France fell in August '40, Vichy installed. It's a little too early to draw any conclusions about V1.4 and I'll have to go on a little further. Hope this helps a little for V1.5! cu Samichlaus
  16. Why not making a decision event about the invasion of Greece? Samichlaus
  17. Hi Mats while playing on (with V1.2) I realized that I think you must overthink the u-boat war! When some of my axis subs occupy a convoy route, they usually damage for around 9-13 MPP's (at level 1), but given the fact that (depending on season) all majors get between 200-2000 MPP's per turn, this is completely ridiculous and never worth the effort. I think I will leave out V1.3 and wait for V1.4. I will now go on testing on V1.2. cu Sami
  18. Just tried to recreate the crash. Went back to the autosave and captured Paris again. As with the first try I install Vichy France. When I answer "yes" another decision screen pops up, completely blank (no text in it), which also happened the first time, and I answer "no" (first time "yes") although I have no idea to what I am saying no...this time the game doesn't crash and I am able to go on (strange thing in Africa btw, where first a french colony declares neutrality but then is taken over by Vichy anyway). Until now, I tried a slightely ahistorical approach to the war. 1. I never occupied or remilitarized something (like Rhineland, Saarland) 2. I didn't occupy Tchechoslovakia. 3. I did the "Anschluss" of Austria though. 4. I committed the italians in Eritrea/Ethiopia (which seems to be a bad thing, since the british kick my ass there, they even took Tobruk btw). 5. I never attacked Poland so far. 6. I didn't use the "Altmark-Incident". 7. I didn't sign the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact. All in all I did little to annoy England, France or the US. The decisions led to the following situation: 1. France declares war sometime at the end of '39 (don't know why, because I never attacked France, their colonies or even Poland). 2. Decided to invade France through Switzerland then, without attacking Belgium, Luxembourg or Netherlands. 3. I captured Paris in August '40 without ever being at war with Benelux. 4. Russia always reminded me, that I didn't "maintain order" in Poland (although I am not at war with Poland) and then soon declared war on Axis. 5. Long before the fall of Paris the British declared war on Axis. I hope these observations help you in improving your good mod! Samichlaus
  19. Hi Mats Testing your V1.2 calm before the storm mod, I encountered some problems/bugs. 1. Right on the first turn (Axis) there is a popup that says a) that the japanese lost the war and that therefore the US increases their production. 2. The program crashes when trying to install Vichy France. Perhaps this has already been fixed in V1.3. Otherwise keep up the good work! Samichlaus
  20. Finishing my first global conflict standard campaign as axis, the main thing that bothered me was, that after Germany was at war with russia, my japanese units were never able to join the fun and attack Russia. Even though (after barbarossa) I left all garrison cities in manchuria unoccoupied. Then another strange occurrence: I was (as Japan) SOMETIMES able to attack russian units, f.e. in Egypt or Turkey. But I never could attack them elsewhere. I conquered Mongolia, Tibet, India and almost whole africa, but, as mentioned above, could never mop up eastern Russia. In fact, the game never considered Japan at war with Russia and I was no more able to dow Russia, because axis was already 100% at war with her. Suggestions? Solutions? Thx Sami
  21. And here a link to the map for the maginot line: http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Datei:CarteLigneMaginot.png&filetimestamp=20060218180651 To my surprise, the maginot line existed also on the french-italian border, a fact, that is widely ignored by almost any sc2 scenarios! Sami
  22. Hi Mats just sent you (only) the map files I exported via the editor (around 2.6 Mb!). Good luck with the improvement of the scripts, especially the decision events! Sami
  23. Hi Cantona! I just finished your V1.3 and encountered a few oddities (axis vs. AI). -I denied (decision event) to invade Poland (Fall Weiss), but attacked them anyway about two turns later (and accepted Hitler-Stalin-pact). What happened was, that I could conquer Poland without France or England going at war. In fact, they never went at war until 1944, when (after defeating Russia) I attacked France by myself. This even though I attacked "British africa" and conquered Egypt long before. Even after dowing France, England didn't go to war with axis. In fact, it was nice for me as axis to be able to conquer Poland (and Russia afterwards) without being bothered by the western allies. -many pop-ups were completely illogical (notifications about Vichy, although Vichy in my game never existed, notification about Germany occupying the channel islands although I wasn't even at war with France or England, notification about Churchill ordering operation catapult and sinking the french fleet at mers-el-kebir, when everyone was at peace, and so on...) -the map around the swiss-french-german-border is incorrect. I corrected it with the editor (see attachment) and corrected whole Switzerland (added 3 fortresses to represent the alp fortresses St. Maurice, St. Gotthard and Sargans, removed Lausanne and corrected the position of Geneva). This may not be of much importance for gameplay except for the fact, that on your map version Germany has a fortification on the WESTERN border of the Rhine river, which they did not have, on the contrary, the maginot line followed the Rhine to the swiss border. I also saw on the editor, that you didn't draw the Rhine completely (no river where the fortifications are!) All in all I like your attempt to start the game early (1938) so I can try to build up and research what I like. I also love decision events (if they make sense...), but they need a lot of scripting. (I by the way noticed, that some decision events, like operation Tannenbaum, never showed up or only in 1945, when I dowed England). I followed this thread and I know that your most recent version is 1.8, but I am not sure, if the above issues were solved yet (following your comments, I don't think so). If you like me to send you the corrected map (corrected a few spellings too...) I will do so. Thanks a lot for your work and keep it up! Samichlaus
  24. Confirmed. I tried twice and Russia DOWed me around feb or march 1940...although I thought I garrisoned right...
