PanzerMike got a reaction from A Canadian Cat - was IanL in Inferior to CMBB
Making scenarios for CMx2 is harder than it was for CMx1. I have made 9 scenarios that have been published so far (one included as a stock scenario in CMRT, the rest for CMBN/MG and CMRT in the repository). And I have quite a few in the work (including a few for the upcoming Bulge title), so I have some clue what I am talking about.

And IMHO, many of the user-made scenarios for CMBB where not that great as I recall (no offense to anyone). There were a lot, but quality was pretty meh. I prefer quality over quantity.

If you want to take the plunge to make scenarios that will actually be finished and ready to be published for the crowd, start SMALL. My sweet spot is Company size or just little bit larger. Anything bigger is a lot of work to make and to get right. Playtesting large battles is a lot of work. A large map is fine, but not every nook and cranny needs to be stuffed with units.

Devour the excellent guide JonS made and look closely at what other have been making. I have learned a lot from the likes of Pete Wenman and Benpark to improve my map making skills for example.

I have not played CMBB in years now, but CMRT fits my bill nicely!

PanzerMike got a reaction from LukeFF in More Bulge Info! (and a few screenshots...)
Odin, keep the faith. Just wait until the release and all the final details are known. Then decide if it is worth your while. I am confident it will be.

I am pouring considerable time in right now to make content that I hope will be good fun to play. I want this game to be good and try to help within my capabilities. It's great to make some kind of contribution. A great engine is useless without good content. It is what keeps games like this alive.

Some really talented folks (much more so than silly ole me) are busy doing the same. Like sburke I hold them in high regard and consider it a privilege to be a small part of it.

This game has grown over the last years. Bit by bit. It is the best out there IMHO. BFC seem to know what they are doing.

PanzerMike got a reaction from Placebo in The problem with Bagration
Finding detailed accounts on tactical battles is hard indeed for Bagration in my experience, compared to the wealth of sources available on Normandy/Market Garden/Bulge.

That is why I decided to go the fictional/semi historical route. All scenarios I have done for Bagration are fictional but rooted somewhat in reality (the backstory and units names are often historical, but maps and OOB are mostly/completely fiction).

Take a look for example at Fester Platz Polozk. The backstory is historical. The map only slighty resembles the real city though. There was a bridge over the river in the city of Polozk. There was heavy fighting for it. But the streets/buildings/OOB are pure fiction.

But hey, so what. If the scenario is fun to play, good enough for me. Use your imagination
