I'm trying to read between the lines here, is having arguments and criticism dismantled and countered point by point somehow painful to read so you want it to stop? People resort to the fanboy-card when they run out of things to say, which is why they are laughed at.

Many people here have close ties with BFC, so having someone with vague knowledge on the subject walk in and start insulting people you know is annoying. This is very normal and rational human behaviour. Ignorance and arrogance isn't exactly beneficial.

Hyperbole: 10 years ago this place didn't remind me of Tumblr. Not that it existed back then, fortunately.

Because they make a certain kind of games that I rather enjoy, and generally I have had a pleasant experience in dealing with their customer service. While it is not essential I "defend" them, it is important to have the other side of the discussion in this case.

Also it is part of my long lasting plan to become a highly paid consultant for BF being paid the money they're not spending on trying to code a "follow roads" command.

    Aurelius,

Please re-read my post. Am I defending BFC? Perhaps. I was trying to let Wiggum15 know why his posts don't carry any weight.

Am I mad if someone calls me a fanboy? Not at all.

Am I a fanboy? Maybe you think so.

    Shrug.

As a counterpoint, look at Lacroix's post, just above. He quotes me and adds a "lol". Why? Because he does not have a rational counterargument. Lacroix is another one to whom I give no credence. His posting history has caused this. Criticism is acceptable, even desirable to improve the game. The negativity expressed by several, like Wiggum15 and Lacroix is counterproductive.

Back to your point, Aurelius.  I will not stand by silently when I see posts which are counterfactual. I try to reply to posts with the same level of respect and maturity as they are made. Look up my posting history. Find where I say this game cannot be improved. Find where I do not support ideas to improve the game. There is a world of difference between trying to improve something and just tearing it down. Yes, this forum can get defensive against inflammatory posts. However, this forum also allows those inflammatory posts...for the most part.

Irrational, immature, insulting, and inflammatory posts should not be accepted. Defending BFC? No. I am defending a game system I enjoy. I will not passively watch a few malcontents poison a forum without pointing out their falsehoods and distortions.

    Regards,
    Ken

Edited to add: As a beautiful counterpoint to everything Wiggum15, Lacroix, et al., have posted, look at this: http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119875-worrying-60mm-mortar-behavior/page-1

We have a criticism of behavior which is specific and it includes what behavior was expected. A member of BFC's team checks it, finds it has merit, and posts an internal report about it. And then provides feedback to the OP about it. This is just one of hundreds of threads which prove how distorted are the statements posted by Wiggum15 et alia.

Well, it's a forum which exists for debate.
If someone posts something I disagree with, I will post a counter-argument if I can.
If that = "defending BFC", so be it.

But wait, I am a fanboy
    ( I don't think I find the term insulting either - I like the game, it's true. )

Sorry but that tells me that you are a unconvincible CMx2 fanboy.
You are unable to accept the fact that "Mius Front" has some great features...

If you would have said that you wish CM had some of those features but still think CMx2 looks overall better or something i would accept that, but to say "i'm not one bit impressed...when compared to CM..." is just a joke.
Guys watch the videos and then think again, he said "i'm not one bit impressed...when compared to CM..." !

...and what just made me fall of my chair is that you said "The shadowing seems far inferior to CM..."...wow, shows me how abnormal your connection to CMx2 is.
Really, please stay realistic at least.

Wiggum15 - are you at all capable of rationale and mature debate? From your previous posts it does appear as if you are going out your way to appear both irrational and immature. TBH your attitude and the way you interact with other posters comes across as hostile and combative. You wonder why other posters then react in the way you do?

Also, when comparing a high fidelity sim to mainstream games with regards to optimization...Mainstream games can take optimization shortcuts CMx2 can not. There is a reason why nobody does relative spotting. If you can name one game that uses relative spotting and has fluent loading times and optimization, I'd be interested.

I'm guessing Arma3 wouldn't run very smooth if it used relative spotting.

Engine improvements and artwork is a lot of work, but making content is also a ton of work. Anybody who has made a scenario knows this. And I mean a scenario with full bells and whistles, fit for publishing. Maps, OOBs, briefing text, briefing graphics, playtesting (!!!), etc. The whole shabang.

Many of this content is made by volunteers and playtested by volunteers. They are willing to dedicate their time and talents to make this game shine together with the small staff of BFC.

To dismiss games like CMRT, CMBS and the upcoming Bulge title as just trivial texture/scenario packs... This is beyond me.

You know all the improvements Wiggum15, since you have played CM for years. No need for lists.

But it seems in your book, all these changes are not significant (enough). I am not going to try to convince you that they are. You are entitled to your own opinion.

Let's agree to disagree and leave it at that. It's too hot here already, sheesh a genuine heatwave here in Holland. I bet it is pretty hot in Germany right now too?

Making scenarios in CMx2 is harder than it was in CMx1 days. The bar has been raised considerably imho. It is a lot of work. A month for a scenario minimum in my case. Heck, I play very little. Design takes up most of my time. After havong made my first stock scenario in RT I was so excited. I made a lot more post release. I skipped BS and dedicated my time to beef up content for RT. Now I am making stock stuff for Bulge. I consider it a privilege. Doing what I can to make games likes this (of which there are very few) feasable. It is great to get feedback and perhaps even some appreciation. But I will make stuff and release anyways. Because I want this game to last.

Apparently no BAR or Thomsons. Only a few M3 Grease guns (for the halftrack driver?)

Thanks for the update, PM! I know we hadn't heard anything from him since March and I checked on another site, but he hadn't been there for a couple of years, apparently. sometimes members just slip away and you don't know what happened to them. Glad he's still kicking.

I could never go back to CMx1, great as it was. I do however agree with some posters, that the x2 engine shines with (max) Company sized battles. Bigger than that is a bit too much for me. But some devour those monster battles. I am glad we have choice.

That said, there is no game on the market that outperforms CM at what it does.

    All in IMHO.
