    Not sure how much of an interest there will be, but I decided to share some faction mods I have made over the last month or so in case anyone wanted to use them. Not everything is completed in full, but are near a state of completion that I am happy with. I may make some tweaks/adjustments as time goes on, or if any major issues pop up.

    -Russian Faction ca. 2008 (or as close as I could get it) modeled after the war in Georgia. Conscript units wear mixed VSR/Flora uniforms, whereas regulars are primarily in Flora. Weapons have been visually changed in some instances, ex: AKM swapped for AK-74 model. Helmets are updated to the SSh-68.
    Iran
    -Iranian Faction modeled after resource pictures I could find online. Units are wearing Iranian DPM. Load Bearing equipment is featured in a US DCU pattern that I frequently saw Iranian troops wearing online. AK family has been replaced with G3 rifles. PKM has been (mostly) replaced by the MG3. All vehicles have been painted a uniform sand/desert tan color. I was going to try and replicate some vehicle patterns I found online but I was never really satisfied with how they came out. After thinking about it, I may leave them untouched, as it paints them in a more generic light and doesn't force them to specifically be Iranian; they could be any kind of make-believe faction you can think of. 
    Notes:
    -Regarding the Brits, Canadians, Dutch and Germans there are two sets for each camo type (woodland/mixed): one set that is clean and one set that is dirty. That way you can pick and choose which you would prefer. 
    -In relation to the above, you only need to choose one of the options (Clean OR Dirty, not both) for each faction and drop that folder into your 'Z' folder to use. 
    -Regarding the Russians, US Army & USMC, I did not alter the vehicle colors. There are a few mods (Euroscape) that come to mind that will give the vehicles more of a European paintjob. I would download those currently to complete the overall look.
    -Most folders in each download will have a section titled "PSD". These are the photoshop file types that I used while editing. If you have photoshop or a program that can accept .PSD files you can open them up and make any changes you'd like. 
    Known Issues: 
    -Russian Faction currently does not exhibit any changes to the SF units. I have a few ideas here for what I want to do in the future but this will require some more experimentation. 
    -Iranian MG3's that are setup via tripod are currently sunken into the ground. Have not been able to figure this one out yet.
    -Iranian G3 rifles that replace the grenadier rifles do not have an underslung grenade launcher. Pretend they're just shooting rifle grenades!
    -Any instance where a weapon swap has been performed (AKM to G3 for instance) is purely cosmetic. The G3 will still use the same ammo type from whatever rifle it is replacing; equally so, the magazine sizes will also stay the same. There is nothing that can be done about this on my end. 
    -The Editor Logo for the Iranian Faction correctly displays the Iranian Flag button, but the text still reads "Syrian Army".
    -The Editor Logo for the Russian Faction displays both the Syrian Flag and the text reads "Syrian Army".
    -Some of the weapon icons in the squad overview have black backgrounds, I forgot to alpha channel these out and only just noticed today. Not game breaking by any means but I will see about fixing it up later on if/when I make further adjustments. 
    -The Russian faction is still currently using Arabic voices.

    Huge thank you to mjkerner who, about this time last year, walked me through how to begin changing/editing the base game files. Modding has brought me just as much enjoyment as playing the game and I would not have been able to do it without him. 
     
    Again, hopefully these will be useful to someone and help mix things up a bit. That's all I have for now!

    He ain't joking.....I'm amazed at what has been done in 'H&E' and I've been watching from the inside! 
    Best armoured Lee/Grant ever.....But as we discovered with 'H&E' experiments, you just won't notice that if the tank/gun firing at it is in turn slightly overpowered (like a 50mm L/60 disguised as the earlier L/42 gun).
    This could be done, for sure.

    This is EXACTLY what @Bil Hardenberger's rules are designed to moderate.....IMHO they do a bloody good job of it too!

    TBH fella I think you got the wrong end of the stick with @Bil Hardenberger's very carefully crafted rules.....But as he and others have said, if you don't like it (or part of it), don't use it!
    FWIW, I'd been using a 'lite' variant of Bil's earlier rules for ages, the current rules are very streamlined and IMHO can add a lot of enjoyment to the game.
    These rules can also be a real boon when plotting out action plans that will eventually be translated via the editor for use by AI controlled units.

    I don't play ArmA so I've never seen this 'in person' but I instantly recognised it from the various videos I've seen on YouTube.
    I thought I might take the liberty of posting a screenie of your map that everyone can see (at least I think they can)

    I wonder where they might wind up?

    Uh... not to burst any bubbles but none of this is going to be in Fire and Rubble, and none of it was promised or even remotely hinted at. 
    Also, using unencrypted, open air civilian telephones in modern warfare is very not smart. Unless of course you like being hit by an artillery concentration mid-call. In which case go for it. 
    Fair enough. Just want to remind you and others reading that F&R is more than just Berlin 45. It reworks the Soviet TO&E in the time period CMRT base game covers to be more realistic and historically accurate. Plus as others have mentioned it adds winter to the Eastern Front, which at least to me is a big plus. Also, the improved infantry AI behavior which is present in all the other CMs will finally be coming to CMRT with the release of Fire and Rubble. Best part is, that part is completely free, included as part of the patch.
    I get that late war is not some peoples cup of tea, its not exactly my go to time period either. But there is a lot more here on offer that I think makes F&R worth it. If nothing else it will help round out your experience in summer 1944.

    Sahrani has always been a favorite of mine over the years. Recently, I stumbled across a mod made by |||CPTMILLER||| that turned our Syrians into members of the SLA. Feeling inspired, I decided to see how feasible it might be to recreate Sahrani, or a portion of it, in CM.
     
    I ultimately decided to go with South Sahrani (and a small part of its northern neighbor). The end result was a fairly accurate recreation of the map itself. Due to map size limitations, the island is roughly 12% smaller than the one featured in ArmA but still comes in at a whopping 4,272m x 3,856m. Some features, like building placement and terrain, had to be modified to fit the smaller scale or changed slightly due to not carrying over in CM's world builder the same. Other features, like the light houses, had to be left out all together because I simply was not happy with the available substitutes. It is not a 1:1 recreation by any means, but it is close enough to where I am happy with it.
     
    The map is pretty much completed at this point, with only a few changes left to be made to the terrain, so I would expect a release sooner rather than later.

    Thank you...I think that Northern Sahrani is actually far more interesting geographically than the South, but I am hesitant to try and map it as I am not sure the elevation will transfer nicely. Trying to get South Sahrani's main mountain looking halfway decent was work enough and I am still constantly finding ways to tweak it. But should I ever do so, there are several islands dotting the northern coast! The one's featured thus far are small, but with the right equipment each can be reached and used for a variety of tasks. Might be a good location for an FO to call fire missions in as BMP's storm across the bay. 
    Thank you! If anyone should get some sort of credit it would be yourself, as I never tried doing anything too serious both in modding and in the editor had it not been for your words of wisdom some months back. 
    The SLA you created are fantastic. I owe the creation of this map to you and your work. I don't think I would have thought to even consider Sahrani had I not stumbled across your units. 
    That is perhaps one of my favorite parts about the ArmA series - the maps! They are fantastic and great to work with when creating maps in CM. I have a few other maps I've started work on based on the ArmA series. I would love to do Chernarus or a part of Altis, such as Kavala. I know at some point someone else on here was working on some Turkish forces, makes me wonder if Greece would be hard to cobble together as well to fit such an environment. Certainly generates a lot of ideas!

    ...and thank you to everyone else, should I have missed anyone. I did not really expect much if any feedback after posting this so the positivity has certainly been encouraging.
     
    The so-called 'beta' version of the map is done at this point. Although I've labeled it 'beta' I expect the terrain portion of the map to be completed at this point so I doubt there will be any changes made in that department unless during play testing issues are discovered. I have attempted to double check everything and make sure there weren't any glaring issues terrain wise however the map is so big its hard to make sure everything has been covered.  I have had some trouble with walls not sitting correctly along elevation changes as well as disappearing/moving flavor objects that had set me back a little bit but otherwise we're rounding third and heading for home. I even added some forces for a rough scenario and created some rudimentary (read: AWFUL) AI plans for REDFOR to give it some play-ability solo.  I am going to add in some objectives and setup zones tomorrow; after I hope to post to the forums with a dropbox link sometime after work (assuming I don't run into any major issues).

    Here we are  guys. Had some issues where the original "beta 4" file got corrupted and I had to back track and start over. There are some poorly setup zones and objectives currently which I may work on at a later point. But everything else is completed at least in a usable manner. Please feel free to make any changes that you feel necessary, no need to be concerned with modifying anything. Hope everyone enjoys.

    If there's anything that unnerves pixeltruppen is getting hit from an unseen enemy from an unexpected direction. I recall reading a (real world) anecdote about a Brit Churchill crew in NW Europe. They were proceeding forward at walking pace when BANG! The crew immediately bailed then looked on as the Churchill continued to trundle forward without them. The driver was so ashamed by his actions he sprinted after the tank under fire, managed to crawl back into the moving vehicle, then returned it to his fellow crewmembers.
    I recall another anecdote that Kubinka museum got its Merkava MBT when an Israeli crew in Lebanon spotted a Syrian Gazelle helicopter on the horizon, immediately bailed and ran away.
