  1. In one of CMBN's loading screen pics there is an un-buttoned Sherman,if you look closely at the guns muzzle you will see the bore sighting threads still intact.
  2. True enough......but did they have any ? Pzgr40 was a tungsten core round which most sources say Germany was almost out of post 1943 as no source for Tungsten was available.
  3. 60....and its a tactical thing !! As long as I am back here in my library/computer room The Mrs thinks she has me surrounded.
  4. The M10 people new there job...however infantry commanders didn't seem to and frequently employed them as assault guns/tanks in Normandy. That lead to the 50cal AA mount being cut loose and moved to the front of the turret bye battalion armorers. What percentage or exactly how many is unknown. Which would make it difficult for Battlefront to implement it any other way then how they have. All Tank destroyers got HVAP when it became available starting in August of 44 and had priority for it over all other armor units. The M10 used the same 3in gun through out its production run and there was no early or late in that regard. The M10s 3in guns HE round had very nearly the same blast radius as the 105 but didn't crater as badly making it a popular indirect fire weapon and the battalions were fully equipped for that role.
  5. I saw that this morning when I restarted the game. I didn't have it last night nor did I have any 76mm showing up in the oob with the rarity set to strict, I didn't think to change the rarity settings at the time. The 76mm should be the default gun for those battalions. Thats what they were equipped with. Now if you are talking infantry regimental anti tank assets then the default gun would be the 57mm with the 76mm extremely rare if at all. Regards Walt OK...I see how there doing things. The 57mm was the more common gun theater wide thus the big difference in rarity and cost. It just struck me as odd to find the 57 as the default gun in those battalions. Also didn't realize that every time you purchased a Tank destroyer ( Towed) battalion you could get a different oob with costs that I have seen running 5100 up to 7406 (11,511 with a full compliment of 76's ). I have had a couple of instances were the page loaded slow or didn't load completely but thats on my system not the game.
  6. Ok....I figured it out. just went back and rechecked, its the rarity settings.Set at strict I am getting all 57mm's. The lower the rarity setting the more 76's show up. For tank Destroyer ( Towed ) battalions it is showing the 57mm as standard , in reality the 3" M5 was the standard gun. Of course in the infantry regiments it would be the other way around. Regards Walt
  7. Excelent...thanks. tried to set up a QB the other day but the only gun listed as available under tank Destroyer battalions towed was the 57mm for some reason. Regards walt
  8. All the information I have states that all US tank Destroyer Battalions ( Towed ) Hit the beach at Normandy equipped with 3" ( 76mm ) M5 trail guns. Thats not to say that some 57mm guns could not have found there way in to battalion inventories as replacements at some point or another. Is it possible that we could see the 3" M5 make its appearance in CMBN in a later module ? Regards Walt
  9. First of all rarely will I ever discount another persons opinion on things ,everybody is entitled to there opinions and I learned long ago with these games things can appear differently to one person compared to another. That said what I am finding in regards to the LOS in Battle for Caen specifically is largely what I would have expected and hoped for. That not so say its perfect because it isn't ,I have encountered on a couple of occasions issues with my troops unable to locate objects that were very close by and required additional small movement orders to locate them as others have reported . Why do I like the LOS in game ? LOS in the bocage country of Normandy was hedgerow to hedgerow with few exceptions. The vast majority of information being supplied to commanders in the field came via recon patrols and was sketchy at best at times. We as players are not the tank commanders and riflemen in the field,we are the commanders that are dependent on those TC's and grunts to provide that information. The fact that I can't see through that line of trees doesn't bother me in the least as my troops in the field tasked with that job can.I enjoy micro managing which perhaps is where the difference lies between me and others that have posted in this thread. I believe that extensive recon is vital to success with this title just as it was in real life. Its my opinion with the exception of some of the issues mentioned above that LOS in Battle for Caen is at least consistent with the capabilities and circumstances of the era. Whether this was done intentionally or by accident makes no difference to me.
  10. Is this fix included in the current down-loadable version from BF or do I need to download and install it ?
  11. You may find that you need to set an exception for TOW2 Kursk's exe file. I had nod32 falsely id it as a trojan and shut down the game twice before I sorted that out. Only happened after installing the Battle for Caen expansion prior to that it ran fine.
